Wow! What an awesome experience to see the landscape of Rotorua from high above the helicopter, flying over the geothermal parks, forest and the many surrounding lakes before the birds eye view of Mt Tarawera site. Volcanic Air Safaris delivered a very high standard of comfort and ease to visit this mountain that erupted some 138 years ago. I was mesmerized with the beauty of the surrounding landscapes when we landed on the mountain top. The pilot took us on a short walk to the peak point and gave us very good account of the history of the mountain and the lakes. I can highly recommend this tour, a bucket list must do while you are in Rotorua. Thank you for an amazing experience.

We had the most amazing experience from start to finish! Katie our pilot was awesome and made the whole trip perfect. If you want an experience You won't forget you have to do this. Soaking in the hot pools for 90min while our pilot and plane waited for us was like being in the rich and famous lol without the price tag. DO THIS EXPERIENCE YOU WONT REGRET IT!.

My family and I went on this tour in September 2022 and we absolutely loved it. Our pilot Steven was a fantastic aviator and knowledgeable guide, he expertly flew us around showing us the beautiful landscape including around Rotorua and Mt Tarawera. We really enjoyed the exploration around Orakei Korako too. The takeoffs and landings in the float plane were so fun to experience. I highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Rotorua. It's 100% worth the money!

Took a float plane to Lake Rotoiti hot pools and it was amazing. Flight was great, the teens in our group exclaimed it was way less spooky than they imagined. Went on a weekday, so pretty much had the entire hot pools to our selves! Bliss. It was one of those - oh gosh I must do that one day experience and I'm super glad we did!

The booking and experience was a total disappointment. They could not book my tour on the early flight because I was the only one flying (claimed minimum of 2 people). Then I was offered and booked on a more extravagant tour at Noon for the same price. Felt pretty good about that. The catch was the weight had to work as I was the 6th and last passenger. I was called a few hours ahead of the noon tour and told that it would not work as the weight was over the limit. Then I was offered a 4 pm tour which I could not make do to my schedule. I certainly will look to another company should I ever return and try again. The company was not at all accommodating as they should have flown me solo.

The sights of Rotorua were spectacular from the helicopter. Our pilot Suk was knowledgeable and shared information about the area and the geographical features. Our flight included views of the crater lakes, the Tarawera Falls and the geothermal reserves. We landed onto Mount Tarawera and began the walk along the path to the top, the views were breathtaking. My husband suffered a moment of anxiety, however Suk calmly encouraged him to proceed and he was so glad he did. Thank you Suk for making our experience a memorable one!

Was more than I expected. Quite a thrill at age 75 to stand and look down at the volcano site. Loved flying over it with my son and three grandchildren aged 11 to 14. We all enjoyed the experience., Staff were helpful and courteous. Pilot was engaging. Thank you.

A really amazing experience to land on the mountain and walk to the summit. The views from the mountain and during the helicopter ride were great despite less than ideal weather. The pilot had excellent knowledge of the mountain and the surrounding area.

This was one of the most enjoyable tours we have done on a helicopter. We landed on Mt Tarawera on the most beautiful day and you could literally see for miles. Our pilot was professional, caring, informative and fun. We then went over the beautiful countryside and saw waterfalls, thermal activity until landing at Orakei Korako. Such a beautiful area to enjoy. We never felt rushed on this tour and felt it was such good value for money. We shared seats so we all had an opportunity to enjoy the helicopter views. This is the only way to go and such a professional company.

An amazing experience seeing the Rotorua lakes region from the air, out-weighed only by the rare opportunity to set foot on the remarkable Mt Tarawera. Josh is an excellent helicopter pilot and a wonderful tour guide. Many thanks also to Steve and his crew for going above and beyond to completely turn our day around - much appreciated. We will be back to experience a float plane ride next time!

The weather was not looking good for the day we had booked. We were placed on a flight the day earlier thanks to Stephen for his wonderful phone manners and ability to be flexible with times. Met at the temporary building (ground works visible on waterfront) Again Stephen was fantastic on greeting and the pre-check in. An amazing trip, although due to low cloud over the Mount was unable to stay as long as i would have liked. Put my complete faith in Tim, our wonderful pilot, though as we headed to our next destination. Very knowledgeable with the history, and Tim was happy to answer our questions. The afternoon at Orakei Korako was also very enjoyable - left to explore in our own time (within the limits of our tour) The flight back was stunning. So pleased this tour was able to be done for us - especially as the weather was pretty unpredictable for the rest of the week.

Absolutely great time flying around the area, awesome knowledgeable pilot who shared interesting things about Mount Tarawera and the surrounding areas. Chasing deer on the mountain was an enjoyable thrill! Highly recommend.

Our excellent pilot, Sam, gave us good information on the areas we flew over which included Tarawera falls, landing and guided walk on Mount Tarawera, Waimangu Thermal Valley, Waiotapu and forestry area including Rotorua waterfront. We could see right down to Mount Ruapehu and out to see to Mount Edgecumbe and Whale Island. The views were amazing! Great way to understand and appreciate the natural beauty of the many lakes and mountains in Rotorua and surrounds. Trip lasted one hour including 20 mins guided walk on Mount Tarawera. Thanks Sam
