Our family friendly rafting trip was a blast today! Can't recommend this experience highly enough. Take your kids and expect to all have a brilliantly fun day! Our kids are 8, 10, 12 and 15 and they all loved it. The adults also had a whale of a time!

Right from the safety brief, through the rapids and back for the lunch, the team made it a great day. We can now say “we have rafted the Rangitaiki River…oh yeah”. Thanks for the experience.

My partner and I enjoyed our experience with River Rats very much. Our guides Nev and Cam made us feel welcome, safe and we engaging the entire time. The rafting was exciting and thoroughly enjoyable. The mix bag of weather we experienced only made the experience more memorable.

Amazing way to spend an afternoon and evening. Nice kayak trip across the lake, followed by a good soak in the hot pools - what a hidden little treasure! Followed by a tasty barbecue dinner - by chef Justin. Our guide, Justin, had lots of stories and historical facts about the area, so it wasn't all about exercise - thank you, Justin. The return trip across the lake was magical: the sunset light, the glow-worms cave, the paddling under the moon and stars. An excursion to remember - we'll return for more of the same!

This was a truly amazing kayak trip. The paddle across Lake Rotoiti in both directions was fun and beautiful and the soak in the hotsprings upon our arrival on the other side was just fabulous. We pretty much had the place to ourselves which is hard to come by these days. We were also lucky in the sunset was so beautiful and we were able to enjoy it while eating a delicious BBQ dinner made by our guide, Justin. On our way back across the lake, we enjoyed clear skies prett much no wind, making for such an easy paddle. The best part, however, was the ending - easing into a little cave full of gloworms hanging from the ceiling then floating back out into a night full of sparkling stars. So very beautiful. River Rats gave us a tour that was beyond our expectations, from great and thoughtful gear, to an informative guide, and an amazing time experiencing some of New Zealands unique and fabulous natural features.

Such an amazing trip! Our guide Zac skillfully led us on a white water adventure that exceeded all our expectations. Our two hour ride was split between traversing rapids and floating serenely along calm stretches. Really lovely. We would happily do it again.

We had a great time with River Rats on the Rangitaiki rafting excursion! All 4 of our party are retired, 3 taking our 1st rafting experience and loved it! Beautiful forest and river views throughout and plenty of whitewater fun ably guided by Zak. Would go again without hesitation, such fun.

Exhilarating! We had an absolute blast! Our guide, Zach, did a great job - highly recommend! Appreciated the wet suit when we jumped in the river at a calm spot: cold but definitely part of the fun. Will do again next time!

Amazing trip down the Rangitaiki River with guides Zach and Justin. They were the only company on this river the day we went so we had the entire journey to ourselves. They were super informative about the area and the history as well as extremely attentive to safety on the river. I felt very safe through the entire journey and we had so much fun! Can’t say enough good things about our guides—they taught us well and kept us all in our rafts through the class 3 & 4 rapids. I would highly recommend this company and would love to raft with them again!!!

Top trip for complete novices. Great banter and enthusiastic guides plus stunning scenery. Highly recommended we went in summer but it would be great anytime

Great afternoon/evening out, guide was very good with safely briefing and getting the kayak ready for us to fit in comfortably. Had a nice paddle across the lake to the hot pools where we had a swim and and a nice BBQ dinner with a good steak and dessert, paddled back in the dark to stop in the gloworm cave for ten minutes and then back to the boat ramp. Many thanks to Justin for organizing this as we had had a few date changes. Not to tough for my 75 year old husband, he loved it even if he had to get helped out of the kayak at the end

The experience exceeded our expectations! Dave our guide was great fun and informative. Would highly recommend this trip if you are wanting a little thrill. We did it in the rain and didn’t even notice it

Justin and Amy were helpful keeping us on course and made us a great meal at such a unique hot springs island. Seeing the sunset from the lake followed by a hidden glow words cave was the highlight of our trip to New Zealand, and of our lives. Thank you River Rats!
