Fun, much exercise, and a unique adventure
Ben took us on an amazing kayak tour! The instructions were very clear. I was a beginner when the tour started and he made sure to check on everyone and make sure we were keeping pace. But when we weren't, he helped us along. I was already tired by the end of the trip there so the dinner was very satisfying and there was plenty. The walk up the mountain was a brisk hike with a gorgeous sunset. And then after all of that exercise and beauty, the walk back down and the prep for the trip back. Kayaking out on the calm bay waters at night was so lovely. We could see more stars than in the city and the city skyline lit up. The need to focus on paddling made me forget all about my fear of what lurks in the water. I do recommend you follow instructions as far as items to bring along. You will want at least what is stated. I used swim bottoms for the kayaking part and that was a good decision. I recommend bringing a 2nd shirt as my top got quite wet as well despite all the gear. But I made it work with what I'd brought and had a very fun time.

A beautiful night of the water
We had a great time kayaking to Rangitoto island. The conditions were beautiful and we had an excellent sunset from the summit viewpoint. Ben was a great guide and looked after the group, cooking us a tasty dinner. Would highly recommend for a beautiful and peaceful evening on the water, overlooking Auckland. Recommend spare dry clothes for the hike!

      Great tour
Great adventure with Ben! Would absolutely recommend. They had all the equipment that you need. I might recommend to have two spare bottoms and tops to change into, if you like to go home dry as well.

      Rad Rangitito Adventure!
This was such an incredible experience! I went on this excursion with some classmates and was very nervous about my kayaking abilities. I shared a kayak with our tour guide, Daniel, and he was AMAZING. He has a true passion for teaching others and he was so supportive - Not to mention that he cooked us a great steak dinner! He helped all of us learn to kayak and hike up the Summit walk! I was really impressed by Daniel's knowledge and skill. This was such a cool chance to sight see and push myself!

      Fantastic experience!
Thanks to Daniel our amazing guide for an unforgettable experience. I was partnered with another lady, and we were struggling to keep up with the pack. Daniel was very attentive, noticed I was struggling and gave us a tow. Once on the island we had a BBQ before hiking to the Summit to see the sunset. Kayaking back to Auckland at night was spectacular! I wish I had pictures from the kayak.:-( Thanks for an amazing trip. I will be back with my husband in November!

Beautiful Sunset Kayak Tour to Rangitoto
This Tour has been my most fun Tour in Auckland. Our guide Daniel was amazing and brought all the required expertise, knowledge and fun to our Trip. It was a beautiful paddle to the the Island where we had a BBQ before hiking to the summit for the sunset. We had a beautiful sunset and a beautiful paddle back in the dark with City lights, stars and some bioluminescence in the water. An experience you cant describe in words or pictures. This Tour is also a great chance to experience rangitoto without masses of other people. Totally recommond booking this if you're fit enough to paddle for an hour there and an hour back. Thanks Daniel for the great Trip!

      Awesome experience!
Awesome experience! Daniel our guide was fantastic! Very knowledgeable, helpful and reassuring. Told us everything we needed to know about paddling and safety before we set out, shared lots of interesting info on the walk to the summit of Rangitoto and cooked a fabulous lunch as well. Great support on the paddle home, offering extra technique tips and ongoing encouragement. Thoroughly recommend and definitely hope to do it again.

      Sunset kayak tour doesn't disappoint!
Wonderful tour all round! Daniel led us on our epic cross-bay kayak/hiking adventure and did a great job educating us along the way. It was an incredible experience and the paddle back across the water in the dark, with clouds parting and stars shining through was magical. Highly recommend this tour and huge thanks to Daniel for going the extra mile.

Booking this trip was easy, with really good communication from the outset. My questions always answered by close of play that day Meeting Chloe at the museum was very straightforward. Such a friendly tour guide, the group were safe at all times. With a nice BBQ after the walk. Thanks Chloe for a lovely day

What a fantastic time we had paddling to Motukorea. Eric and the team were excellent guides, with great safety knowledge and plenty of good humour to relax everyone. Our group went from 11 years old to er, older adults and everyone was well looked after. Cups of tea and delicious brownies (thanks Ben!) were a treat on the island, the 360º harbour views from the summit simply stunning, and the leisurely paddle back to the beach was just dreamy. Go on Aucklanders, spend the dollars and see how beautiful your back yard really is...

Really fun day - well half day ;) I can highly recommend! It’s fun being a tourist in your city and seeing the city from a different perspective. It’s a good little kayak - not too challenging and then a nice walk around the island. Coffee and snacks are appreciated too. Really good value imho.

Our group of 8 did a kayak excursion to Brown's Island. It was originally booked for Rangitoto but modified for safety reasons after the cyclone. The excursion included some free time on the beach, a hike and a delicious bbq lunch. Our guide Rosie was excellent and totally in her element!!! Her knowledge and great sense of humor made this the highlight of our visit to Auckland!

We took the ~4 hour kayak tour to Motukorea/ Brown Island. Chloe took good care of us and made sure we stayed safe on the water. Though we had kayaked once before, this was our first time sea kayaking. It was more work than we thought it might be since we’re a bit older. That said, it was worth the experience and the sense of accomplishment to kayak to Motukorea/ Brown Island. Since only kayaks can land on the island, we were the only ones on the entire island! We had a nice hike (not too long and not too short) to the top of the island where we had 360 degree views of the bay. Chloe had brought tea and coffee including milk and sugar, and also had a rich chocolate dessert as a snack. We had originally thought of doing the Rangitoto island kayak trip, but were thankful we did the Motukorea/ Brown Island trip since it was a shorter trip and wonderful to have an island to ourselves!

    A few tips:
If you wear water shoes in the kayak, bring some comfortable shoes for the hike. If grass on your skin is irritating, wear long quick dry pants. I had some on and was glad to have the protection since you hike through a grassy stretch on the island. Use the toilets on the mainland before starting your tour as there are no toilets once you get in your canoe. There is a place to rinse off your feet after the tour up by the bathrooms, and on the street side of the bathroom building there is a drinking fountain where you can fill up your water bottle after the trip.

We were so thankful to have experienced the harbour from the kayak.

What an amazing experience, Eric was great, his knowledge, experience was very helpful and 100% focused on safety. The paddle across was great, the bbq was very good and the hike and views were wonderful. Paddleing back in the dark with the stars out was truly amazing. One of the best Paddleing experiences to date. Will certainly book another trip when back in Auckland.

We booked a 1/2-Day Trip to Motukorea Island with Auckland Sea Kayaks via the i-Site in Auckland. They are offering a transport from Auckland central into St. Heliers as well, in our case we didn´t needed that one. But good to know :-)

When arrived at the beach our guide Nic was waiting and prepared the Kayaks already. Nic told us that we are the only one today (off-season, autumn is coming) - Yeah! Private tour :-) for us!

Moreover, Nic told us very useful background information about Auckland, the volcanic islands as well as the Maori Myths which is really great and not often done by guides in that depth.

Overall Auckland Sea Kayaks is offering reliable, well maintained equipment and is very professional! They know their job! 100% recommended!

Really fun to paddle with you yesterday. Autumn producers some amazing, calm and stable paddling conditions and yesterday was a prime example. Its always nice to kayak to an island, climb to the top and see which part of the city you are staying in and learn a bit of history about the area. I'm born and bred in Auckland so its nice to show of my backyard to other people. Have a great time in South America.

Our Motukorea / Browns island sea kayak tour is very unique and offers one of the only ways to visit this conservation island. Its great that we can escape from the heart of the city and with under an hour be on an island with no one living on it. We are very lucky. Thanks again for paddling with us and we will pass on the nice words to Eric.

Had the most amazing adventure with Auckland Sea Kayaks today; on their day tour of Motukorea Island!! Could not recommend them highly enough!! Even though the trip departs from Helier’s Bay, they offer free pick up from Auckland Museum which is super convenient for anyone staying in the city centre!! Daniel our tour guide really made this trip, he was friendly, welcoming, kept safety at the forefront at all times and just exuded passion for the outdoors and the sea! His knowledge and experience really shone through! Once we made it to the island, which felt like a private tour it was so secluded, we hiked to the summit!! And before we disembarked, Daniel even had brownies and tea for us to fuel our return journey!! The weather today was meant to be choppy and windy, but even a bit of drizzle didn’t dampen our spirits! Thank you Auckland Sea Kayaks and Daniel for making this such a memorable day on my NZ trip!!
