- Bruce S00Good WorkoutThis is a very strenuous activity. Two hours of kayaking round trip and a 1.5 hour round trip hike up the mountain on Rangitoto. If you are looking for something physically challenging, this is the trip. Beautiful view of the sunset and the city from the top of the mountain.
- hbooher700This is exercise! The kayaking is fun, Rangitoto island is unique and beautiful, but please be in good shape. This is a high effort activity and our group was brought down by people who hadn't exercised in years. Our guide was not a NZ native, she was slightly abrasive and told us some incorrect facts about the island. Otherwise a good experience.
- awrigh71621000Kayak Tour - Flipping AwesomeAustin Sea Kayak tours are #flippingawesome! Nathan was our guide and he was great. Super friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and FUN! Our BBQ Lunch was absolutely delicious, homemade, and they were so wonderful with allergy restrictions. 10/10 would recommend, no matter who your guide is, but Nathan made the whole experience even better!
- TanyaMac5600Highlight of AucklandOur group of 8 did a kayak excursion to Brown's Island. It was originally booked for Rangitoto but modified for safety reasons after the cyclone. The excursion included some free time on the beach, a hike and a delicious bbq lunch. Our guide Rosie was excellent and totally in her element!!! Her knowledge and great sense of humor made this the highlight of our visit to Auckland!
- M5419SRkimv00RecommendedAbsolutely highly recommended. The kayaking to Rangitoto is good to do, for anyone who as an average health/ sport condition. And the hike is easy, even considering that there are a few stairs at the last part of the hike. The view is amazing, especially during sunset. Kayaking at nighttime is something you really what to do once in your lifetime.
- W7560MXlisam00THE BEST OF TRIP IN AUCKLAND FOR SURE!This was truly one of my best experiences in New Zealand. I actually was just looking forward to the kayak trip but then there was a great grilled dinner and a wonderful hike to the top of the volcano on Rangitito to see the sunset over Auckland. The pictures I got at sunset were fantastic. And then the kayak back in the dark was the best. Our guide was wonderful and very knowledgeable. While I enjoyed the trip, I also learned so much extra information from the guide, Eric. I would recommend this trip to anyone!!!
- hollylO5277HX00Fantastic time!Nathan, our guide, was fantastic. He was focused on our safety, but the fun of it was paramount! Loved the tour!
- howie_blackmouse00"I'll be back".This afternoon I enjoyed a one hour private lesson followed by an hour's freedom rental. The booking process was simple and Nic was super helpful arranging everything that I needed. I was welcomed warmly on arrival at Mission Bay. The briefing was thorough and the equipment, ready for me, was in excellent condition. A fantastic hour spent one-on-one with Nathan. A true professional who knew his stuff and knew how to get the best out of me. I learnt heaps and have plenty of tips to improve my paddling. A great way to enjoy this beautiful corner of Auckland.
- JOM25510600Wonderful evening on the waterAbsolutely fabulous evening out on the water. Our guide Nathan was excellent, knowledgeable and a good understanding of the conditions out in the harbour. We felt safe in choppy conditions and has a wonderful time.
- Delameretravels00Kayaking at Mission BayDefinitely a good time. Highly recommended and the staff are lovely. Value for money, remember sunscreen I’m a bit redder than I would like to be
- DianeA103000Great communication and flexibleHighly recommend. Excellent communication and flexible with changes. Will certainly be renting from them next time we are in Auckland.
- Travel76266900Excellent Kayaking, Volcanic Peak Climb and a Terrific Lunch! The whole experience was excellent. Our guide Rosie has just the right balance of organized, group leadership, kayaking skill and being chef! What a great way to spend a day.
- ashlynq202200Kayaking TripNathan was an excellent tour guide and kayaking instructor. We had a great experience kayaking to Brown's Island and he made a very tasty lunch. It took 45 minutes to get to the island and an hour and 45 minutes to get back because of the strong wind. He was very helpful in making sure everyone got back safe. Make sure to wear sunscreen!
- oakwoodblue6400Wow……just wow!Wow…..just wow! As a complete novice, I’m not ashamed to say I was a bit wary about doing this. I needn’t have been. Tom and Rosie quickly put me at ease and in no time, I was raring to go. Kayaking 4.5km across the sea to Rangatito Island where we enjoyed a barbecue before walking the 2.2km up the volcano so we could see the sun set over Auckland. Worth it? Absolutely! Tom and Rosie were brilliant…..informative, enthusiastic, superb hosts. Then to cap it off, we kayaked back across the sea in the dark. A clear sky helped the whole experience, but to see the lights of Auckland and the stars at night was just magical. You need an element of fitness ….but don’t let that put you off too much. Im certainly not fit and I was fine. A wonderful experience, one I never thought I was capable of…..all that was missing was my ‘well done’ badge!.
- 293nicolaiv00Kayak to RangitotoVery knowledgeable tour guide with lots of insights into the trip. Enjoyable and exciting experience

Really fun day - well half day ;) I can highly recommend! It’s fun being a tourist in your city and seeing the city from a different perspective. It’s a good little kayak - not too challenging and then a nice walk around the island. Coffee and snacks are appreciated too. Really good value imho.

What an amazing experience, Eric was great, his knowledge, experience was very helpful and 100% focused on safety. The paddle across was great, the bbq was very good and the hike and views were wonderful. Paddleing back in the dark with the stars out was truly amazing. One of the best Paddleing experiences to date. Will certainly book another trip when back in Auckland.

We booked a 1/2-Day Trip to Motukorea Island with Auckland Sea Kayaks via the i-Site in Auckland. They are offering a transport from Auckland central into St. Heliers as well, in our case we didn´t needed that one. But good to know :-)
When arrived at the beach our guide Nic was waiting and prepared the Kayaks already. Nic told us that we are the only one today (off-season, autumn is coming) - Yeah! Private tour :-) for us!
Moreover, Nic told us very useful background information about Auckland, the volcanic islands as well as the Maori Myths which is really great and not often done by guides in that depth.
Overall Auckland Sea Kayaks is offering reliable, well maintained equipment and is very professional! They know their job! 100% recommended!

Really fun to paddle with you yesterday. Autumn producers some amazing, calm and stable paddling conditions and yesterday was a prime example. Its always nice to kayak to an island, climb to the top and see which part of the city you are staying in and learn a bit of history about the area. I'm born and bred in Auckland so its nice to show of my backyard to other people. Have a great time in South America.

Our Motukorea / Browns island sea kayak tour is very unique and offers one of the only ways to visit this conservation island. Its great that we can escape from the heart of the city and with under an hour be on an island with no one living on it. We are very lucky. Thanks again for paddling with us and we will pass on the nice words to Eric.

Nic is an absolutely fantastic guide. Organised, friendly, super knowledgeable. And Motukorea is gorgeous! A brilliant half-day trip. My mother - in her late 70s - came on the last trip and loved it. Great feeling of adventure for families and travellers - Nic makes sure you're well taken care of. This is my 3rd trip with Nic and I can't recommend Auckland Sea kayaks more highly.

My partner and I are visiting all 50+ volcanoes in Auckland and getting to Motukorea was tricky for us. We went as a date day over the holiday break while our kids were in daycare and had the best time! Lara was a great guide and the trip was so fun. Thanks for a great day!

All 50+ volcanoes of the Auckland Volcanic field is a great achievement and we are lucky to have been on part of this journey with you. As there is no ferry or public transport to the island sea kayaking is one of the only ways to get to the island. We hope in the future that we have to opportunity to show off this awesome island to your children when they are old enough for the adventure. Thanks again,

Highly recommend- although the sea was a bit rougher on the day we kayaked, our tour guide was exceptional at modifying the trip while still exceeding our expectations. We spent a majority of the 4 hours kayaking on the water, except for a brief stop on a private beach for a quick snack and water. In addition to kayaking, our guide was very informative on the history of the surrounding bodies of water, forrest, sealife, and wildlife. They also offered pick-up and drop-off transportation from downtown Auckland.
