Inexpensive way to get to the airport
Catch the Airport Express Bus on the ground level of the Sky Tower for only $17. You can purchase your ticket online or pay the driver with a credit card.

    Great view but pricey
Great views but the entry price is becoming unrealistic. Will probably blame covid but price has just raised to $99 for a family pass(2 adults, 2 children) I am sure it was around $70 last year.

    Great views.
Great view of the surrounding city and harbour areas. Very quick and easy, you can spend 5 or 25 minutes looking at the view.

    A must-do when in Auckland
Going up the SkyTower is a must-do activity when in Auckland. The views are amazing from all observation decks. Top tip: buy your admission tickets online as they are cheaper than walk-up prices.

    Fearless!
I want to try jumping off the tower. I'm going to spend a little bit of dollars at the casino. I'm in it to win it! Then I'm going to have something to eat at the cozy restaurant in it.

Great view of this beautiful city!
The view from the tower is wonderful! Panoramic and unobstructed views of the total city. Makes you appreciate how beautiful this city is.

Grandson and husband loved the sky slide experience. Views are so cool! Cafe closed early which was a shame.

I enjoyed the views from the deck on the 60th floor. Wish the cafe were open so I could have a cup of coffee.

A great way to see the city & harbour
We went up the tower on a bright, clear day and could see for miles in all directions. Both floors provided great views. We didn't do the rappel off the tower but my wife wishes she had now. It's pretty pricey for a once in a lifetime event.

Sky High View and excellent meal/service
Seven of us when to dinner in the Sky Tower. We had had to re-schedule our reservations a couple of times and the staff on the phone were just outstanding in accommodating us. Check-in was very easy and we were seated within 5 mins of our arrival at the check-in area on the lower level. Food was very good, service was outstanding, and the view of the area was great, with no buildings blocking our view at any point.

    Sketchy Area at Night
We stayed in a nice apartment with a view of the SkyTower. I would suggest being very careful in the area near Federal Street after dark. We encountered a fair number of homeless, street people and mischievous looking people, hanging out purposelessly, etc. Nobody harassed us but we also didn’t dawdle there.

    Good views
A little expensive but a must do!! Maybe give the skycafe a miss as staff miserable and finding a seat isn't easy - also very expensive and poor quality - just my opinion!

    you have to do it
it isn't the most amazing view ever, but you can't come this far and not do it. Tip -buy your ticket online, even if you are already there, so that you save five dollars. I didn't give it the fifth star because it closes too early - would have loved to see it at night

We purchased 2 general admission tickets thinking that we could catch view from the observation deck and then mossey over to the revolving restaurant for a drink and grab a bite to eat. The observation deck definitely provides a sensation panoramic view of the city. However, we when attempted to take the elevator to the restaurant, we were informed we needed a reservation and separate ticket. NO ONE at the admission counter ever mentioned a thing about this. We went back down to the admission counter thinking we could just pay an addition fee for the revolving restaurant. NOPE .. they explained since we already had gone up to the Sky Tower, we would need to purchase ANOTHER general admission ticket, plus the extra charge for the revolving restaurant admission.
It sure would have been nice if this had been explained to us before we purchased our original general admission tickets!!!

Several levels of the tower are included in the General admission ticket, including one where you can get ice cream. Restaurant levels require reservations in advance - we were unable to get them (too close to holiday season, to late thinking about it). The views are spectacular if the weather is clear, and the 38mm plexiglass floor panels are enough to make your parent's heart jump into your mouth. There are two external event options. Skywalk is a tethered walk on a steel walkway around the tower, and the Skyjump is a tethered rapid decent from the tower to the ground (NOT a bungee jump). We did neither.

While in Auckland, going up the Sky Tower is definitely a worthwhile experience! This is an excellent way to see the city and harbors no other way can show you! The general admission ticket will not only allow you to go to the 51st floor, it gives you access to the 60th floor as well (included in the price). The views are spectacular! There is a restaurant up there on one of the floors, but I did not go. If you're the thrill-seeking type, for more money you can opt to walk on the catwalk or jump from the deck.

Great way to understand the Auckland topography and different locations to visit, distances and get a first orientation of the city.
Entrance fee is reasonable at 32 NZ Dollars with no time limitation.
There are two observation levels, on the 51st floor and on level 60, with 30m difference, the highest being at 220 meters above ground.
There's a restaurant/coffee shop, photo booth to make your extreme selfie and other activities if you are more adventurous like sky walking, obviously with a different fee.
Worth the visit and count on a good hour to enjoy the tower and view.
Parking is at 20+ NZD for a couple of hours.

I bought my ticket online before I left for New Zealand. I purchased the tower ticket only. I learned later that for about the same price, I could have purchased a ticket that included lunch at one of the restaurants in the Sky Tower. So check out your options before you book. To get to the two viewing areas, there are two elevators. The first one takes you to the lower viewing area and a second elevator takes you up to the higher one. Both areas are enclosed in glass which makes taking photos a bit more difficult. But from either area, there are great views of the city and surrounding area of Auckland. I would say it’s a bit pricey but for me, it was the first day in Auckland and it was good to get an “overview” of the city and just get my bearings, so to speak.

It’s difficult to get your bearings in Auckland as it is very flat with few high rises except in the city centre business district so do this to see the lay of the land which is exactly what it does.

General admission will get you to floor 51 where the observation deck is and you get fantastic views across the city and islands as far at Waiheke.

Some famous landmarks to look out for the War museum in Auckland Domain (Demesne where we come from!), MT Eden, One Tree Hill (U2 have a song about it) and Eden Park if you are a rugby fan.

The lift is not the quickest I’ve been in and has a glass floor section if you like looking down!

Some activities to do would be the Skywalk where you can walk externally around the top and you can even get to the ground externally in ropes but not my thing

Just to say we'd been up in the Sky Tower, we headed up. Fortunately, as guests of the Grand, we got a slight discount. Tickets for 2 adults was still $50nzd to just ride up and catch the view. It is a nice view, but worth the $ - eh! We did get some ice cream at the cafe and sat in the perfect spot to watch the jumpers...however, no one jumped in the 30 minutes while we sat there. Of course, as soon as we exited at the bottom, here came someone jumping from the top! I had thought about doing the jump as well, however, they have it priced just high enough I could not see the value.

Definitely an easy thing to do and kill some time while in Auckland...up to you if it is worth the expense!

This is overly expensive and there’s are so many better ways t9 get great views of the city. Take the ferry to Devonport or take a 3 hour city bus tour. All will cost less and show you more.

Hi NorthernExpat, Thank you for your review. I was disappointed to learn that you were not completely satisfied with your recent visit. There are absolutely many great ways to see the beautiful Auckland views, however the SkyTower offers a quick and accessible option from the highest vantage point possible and the reviews speak for themselves! Have a great day! Warm Regards, Amy

While the Sky Tower is dominant, the signage is not so and we found it hard to discover the entrance, not realising that you have to go into the adjacent hotel building and then down the escalator to the ticket office. Our tickets (as pensioners with ID) were very good value at NZ$23 each (about £12.50). A lift took us straight to the observation deck, where there is plenty of opportunity to linger, enjoy the impressive views over the city, and read the information boards. The 'sky deck' is higher, smaller and similar but gives a good view of the brave (or mad) sky walkers and bungee jumpers. The view is the main reason for going, but it's well worth it.

We visited the Sky Tower in August 2019 late afternoon early evening. To watch the going down over Auckland. The view is spectacular up there and if you really just soak in the beauty of the CBD and surrounding areas then time goes bu so fast.

Afterwards, we had dinner at Orbit, which the restaurant rotates in order for you to view yet again the entire Auckland while enjoying excellent food and drink. We really enjoyed our meals and cocktails. Overall an excellent experience which we highly recommend as a combo.

We will do this again.
