Full-Day Hobbiton Tour from Auckland
From $139.24

Fans of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films won’t want to miss a tour of the Hobbiton movie set while in New Zealand. On this tour, enjoy convenient round-trip transport from Auckland, stop in Matamata for lunch (own expense), and take a guided tour of Hobbiton, including a Hobbit-themed drink (own expense) at the Green Dragon Inn.

What to Expect

Make your own way to central Auckland to meet your guide. Set out on the around 2-hour journey to Hobbiton on an air-conditioned coach.

Admire the New Zealand countryside and take photos as you pass through Bombay Hills and Waikato farmlands. Stop in Matamata and use free time to purchase lunch (own expense) and sightsee.

Arrive at Hobbiton and take a guided tour of the movie set, preserved from The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movies. See the working sheep farm on which the set was built, and venture into The Shire to discover Middle Earth.

Your guide stops at memorable movie locations, retells set stories and points out props. See Bilbo Baggins’s home, peek inside the hobbit holes, and visit the party tree, mill, and bridge. Stop at the Green Dragon Inn for Hobbiton-brewed cider, ale, or ginger beer (own expense).

Your tour ends back at your starting point.

A tour for everyone, but fans especially will love it! the scenery is amazing, the Hobbiton town was realistic and beautiful, just like a movie experience! lots of great photo opportunities, this is definitely a must see when you visit this part of New Zealand.
