      Artexplore Auckland Saturday walks
Warm and welcoming Brian and Caril share their love of art, and with TJ's superb knowledge and humour you will discover that art need not be scary or hard to understand. Unbiased information sprinkled with local history makes for a fun and exciting couple of hours, with an optional shared coffee afterwards for sharing views and making new friends.

      Themed Walk = Brilliant Idea
I have been attending and helping out with Art Explore walks for some time now and have loved every minute! Their latest themed walk set the group on a tour of the traditional, contemporary and often quirky at four of Wellington's best sites for exhibiting jewellery. A bonus was getting to visit The Makers work space on Abel Smith Street for a tour of the studio and a play-by play of the displayed pieces by co-founder Annie Collins. Stay for the coffee and fantastic conversation after the walk is over.

      Don't Miss ArtExplore
This is the best way to become familiar with new developments in the Auckland art market. This year we had TJ McNamara commenting on our Saturday morning tours and his astounding knowledge of the NZ art scene make this experience something different. Even though the tours are finished for the year I find I am still going over some of the things we saw this year. If I did not have ArtExplore to organise these visits, I would never do them alone and would miss all the stimulating art I have encountered this year. Some of the sessions led to purchases I probably should not have made but you know how it is when you see something that makes you go ooooooooh! perhaps I could afford that. It helps that the galleries have lay-bye. So via ArtExplore I have contributed to some of the galleries and some of the artists I have encountered during the year. If you have the chance, make this experience part of your visit to Auckland.

      Accessible Art
Conducted in Auckland by Brian Latimer, though available also in Wellington, the ArtExplore tours are sensational. Brian is passionate, patient, learned and generous - all that you could want in a guide for any subject. But when it comes to NZ contemporary art - he is peerless. Even if "art is not your thing" a tour with Brian will be a joy of discovery and a fabulous conversation spanning the globe. You can also find Art Explore at Vayable. If you have some time in Auckland, and if Brian is available, definitely catch up. He conducts a regular Saturday morning tour and time permitting can plan a bespoke tour at other times. We had a slight hiccup on our tour, my aunt slipped and fractured her wrist whilst we were on Waiheke Island viewing the Sculpture Tour - Brian was cool, calm, quick thinking and accompanied us back to Auckland making very sure we were in good hands at the hospital. I think we were a tour he will never forget!
