Wasn't great weather but still worthwhile going for the buffet alone. Also relaxing cruising along the river.

Not being a real fan of cruising, I was a bit hesitant to voyage from Barrack Street Jetty to Fremantle when my brother suggested it. However, my experience from start to finish with Captain Cook Cruises changed my mind and the experience worth it.

The one hour and fifteen minute, one-way journey to Fremantle, seemed to fly (sail?) by as we got to enjoy a unique perspective of the Perth Skyline from the water and took in unobstructed views of downtown Perth, elegant homes (mansions), parks and marinas along the Swan River all whilst listening to the Captains' detailed and entertaining commentary.

We did the round trip sightseeing cruise from Perth to Fremantle & back again.

It's the same boat as the lunch cruise which is served on the main deck and the sightseers are on the first deck.

The staff were very friendly and once we were on board, the passengers on the first deck were left to enjoy the view.

As we'd booked a return trip, we weren't allowed off the boat once we got to Fremantle and if we were to do the trip again, we would have only booked one way so we could get off and explore. Luckily we'd explored a fair bit of Fremantle in the days prior to the cruise.

Definitely recommend a cruise down the river to enjoy Perth from another angle. The crew shared lots of local info along the way which made the trip interesting.

Good afternoon Sally, Thank you for taking the time to leave a lovely review for our Swan River Scenic Cruise, it is a great way to see parts of Perth and Fremantle from the river. We certainly agree, for those who wish to explore Fremantle we recommend booking a one way cruise and catching the train back to Perth. Thanks again Sally, we hope to have you on board again in the future! Kind Regards, Paula - Captain Cook Cruises WA

I left from Perth and when I booked had to chose how long I wanted to spend in Freeo. The options were something like 2 hours, 6 hours or 8 hours, there was no middle ground so I ended up doing the 2 hour version. I spoke to a couple on my boat who'd gone for the same option and we all felt at the end that it wasn't enough time to properly see the place, you had to have one eye on the time the whole time so it was a bit stressful. I got a taste of Freeo though. The boat rides were both pleasant, with interesting commentary and on the return journey a free wine sample (thimble size though!) Crew were friendly enough and it all went smoothly, just disappointing choice of departure and return times.

Friends
We were packed in like sardines in a can. The top bar was closed but didn’t matter as you could hardly get out of your seat if you tried. We did confirm on our paperwork that complimentary tea & coffee was included. This trip at $30 a head by 300 people would have been a very profitable afternoon for them.
We are left very disappointed and were told directly about poor drink sales on the day.
Their response stated that we were misinformed regarding the refreshments but paperwork tells a different story.

Good afternoon Colin G, Thank you for your feedback. We are very sorry to hear of your experience. It does sound like you have some out of date information as tea and coffee is no longer included on the Perth/Fremantle cruises. Would you mind please sending me your booking details so that I can speak to you personally? Thank you Colin G - I can be reached at reservations@captaincookcruises.com.au Kind regards, Kat

Having visited Freemantle several times before by road we thought a 75min cruise on the river would be a pleasant enough way to travel down & then return by train.
All started off OK with some historical & wildlife commentary but that descended into who has the most obscene amount of money to spend on mostly a ghastly architectural monstrosity, which means $$$ does not = taste. So glad I am poor.
No mention of the container rainbow approaching Freemantle but at least we were spared how many rivets were used in each bridge.
The bar provides a range of drinks, however, we were to find out that a flat white (a stupid description, I would like a short black or is that not PE ??) simply meant a coffee with a splodge of milk from the fridge, oh well it was not overpriced.
Despite this I would still recommend the trip, at some times maybe with ear plugs.

Interesting experience riding with the same company two days in a row - we went to Rottnest the day before and on this Perth to Freemantle cruise the next day. As a person with disabilities who uses a wheelchair, the experience on the first cruise was EXCELLENT on how I was treated - there were ramps all the way along for me to get on and off the boat. This cruise was NOT accessible - there was a ramp up to the boat however one had to go over a high sill to get into the boat. Now, on the outbound, I could see they were boarding the boat fast, however on the inbound they KNEW I was on the boat and should have put an additional ramp down so I did not have to go over the sill.

Good morning Imnei Thank you for your comments - we really appreciate your feedback. Yes, our vessel to Rottnest Island is 100% wheelchair accessible, and we are very proud to offer this service. The vessels that we use on the Swan River services are not quite as accessible, and it really depends on what vessel we are using on what day. I can certainly see your point on the day that you cruised with us however. It would have been a good idea for the crew to put in place an additional ramp to make disembarkation easier for you. Please be assured that we always aim to make our vessels as accessible as possible, and we will take your feedback on board for when we are operational again. Thank you Imnei. Kind regards, Katrina

I love being on the water, and thought a trip from Perth to Freo with overseas visitors would be good. The ferries are tired and in need of a spruce up a bit grubby actually. Visitor thought it was a public service vehicle like the one between the CBD and south Perth. Also, other than the ferry trip there is nothing to recommend the journey. It cost about $30 one way each. Will not do it again. Very disappointed.

We got on the cruiser at Elizabeth Quay. Be early and get a good seat as it does fill up. We booked this before we left home to go to Perth. Alovely trip down the Swan River with great commentary along the way. Food and drinks available on board. The staff are all friendly. We also got the cruiser back from Freemantle which i would advise but that's just my feeling. Recommend going Freemantle this way. Thank you Captain Cook Cruises Perth.

The Ferry is a lovely way to enjoy the scenery as you float down the river
The captains’ dialogue is very informative in pointing out all the high end real estate on the shore line on the way from Perth The trip is very smooth and comfortable.
We took the train back which was much quicker, but enjoyed the opportunity to travel on the river on the ferry
