About the operator
- Cintrus00Satisfied on all levels!Monique was our guide for the Foodie Walking Tour of Melbourne. We had 6 in our group which was perfect. My 11 year old daughter and I enjoyed ourselves with the other guests and our guide Monique who engaged well with everyone and ensured that they were informed about the history of the places that we were visiting and sampling the food. The tour itself is very walkable with no great staircases or hill climbs to negotiate. The places visited were exceptional and the variety of cultures and food and drink styles were brilliantly explained. We all had plenty to eat. We went back to a couple of places the next day. If you want to find out where we went then you will just have to book. I can thoroughly recommend this tour and the guide Monique as we had a great time.
- 839kerrinc00Brilliant TourBrilliant tour. Despite living in Melbourne, we were taken to places I’d never been to before. The guide was so friendly and knowledgeable and the food/drink tasting were fantastic!!
- shelleycR5128XG00Hidden Melbourne secrets with great food! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and he promised us we'd leave feeling full, and he wasn't wrong! What I loved most was that even as a local, I learnt so much about some hidden and less well-known places in my own city! We tasted delicious macaroons, some seriously good coffee, tasty banh mis, uniquely delicious dumplings, a decadent hot chocolate like no other and finished it all off with a cleansing gelato followed by a beverage in a vibrant watering hole at the end of a hidden laneway! I would highly recommend this tour and it was perfect for my work team building activity.
- PilisaURL00Eclectic mix of food and cultureWe had five food and drink stops with culture stops all along the way. Some of them were culturally interesting, some were artsy and some were a bit odd. The food stops were good to great, depending on your taste compared to hers. The first coffee stop, for instance, was a bit with some and so so with others. Overall I do recommend it, and thought it was a fun way to spend an afternoon in a city new to me.
- Harpenden_girl00Great Melbourne introExcellent intro to the culture history and food of Melbourne. Plenty of variety in places visited. Quality of food/ drink excellent and guide was really approachable and interesting. I got a lot out of this and would recommend
- Alihunter00Delicious and fun! This coffee tour was fantastic. Very insightful and a great mix of Melbourne history and coffee culture. Monique is very knowledgeable and enjoyed the morning very much.
- Nate E00Great intro to Melbourne history, culture and foodGreat experience - well organized, plenty of good food and nice balance of context (history, culture, local artisans). Highly recommend.
- GlobalHealthMan00Great Tasting TourMonique was an excellent tour guide. I so appreciated that she reached out by phone to try and locate me when I was in the wrong meeting spot. The tour itself was terrific as she provided a wonderful history of Melbourne and integrating it among some fantastic dining locations. She intertwines a diverse array of cuisines from desserts to small plate dishes. My favorite was the Vietnamese Bahn mi sandwich. This was the best one I ever had anywhere. The bread was toasted perfectly with a crisp exterior and fluffly inside that was soft and flavorful topped by roasted pork belly with just the right mix of sauce and seasoning. Our other meal with delectable dumplings was accompanied by sweet tastings from macaroons to the finest chocolates or Italian gelato. We ended the tour with a fine beer or wine. This is just a fun and easy tour that gives you a taste of what Melbourne has to offer.
- M5303GQcynthiaj00My world-travelled friend had the best dumplings he’s ever eaten! My friend and I went on the tour, he is back living in his childhood home city of Melbourne and hadn’t done this. He loved it as much as I did. Robert, our guide, was funny, knowledgeable and made the experience to feel we were a close knit group of 8 very easily. Best Bahn mi and dumplings we have eaten - did I mention the dumplings! For history and a great Melbourne experience, we will both be recommending this to all our friends and will certainly go again ourselves.
- Peter N00An amazing experienceMonique was grea, very patient and professional. I was a bit lost trying to find the starting location and she called to make sure I found my way. Amazing experience with the food and drinks. I also learned so much about the history of Melbourne. Highly recommended
- 821severinam00Awesome!!We had a lovely guide she taught us so much on the history of coffee in Melbourne and Melbourne in general. Great experience!
- leejL5455BE00Great food, great company, fabulous guideThis was a great way to discover some fantastic eateries and some hidden corners of Melbourne that we hadnt noticed before. Monique made it fun, informative and personal. We als got to meet soe new people and rnjoy some time together!
- home189200Great fun!Amazing tour! Had a great time and met some great people! Laneways and stops were wonderful! Our guide (company owner) was stupendous!
- bethsK142LG00A Great Blend of the CityThe tour was excellent. We went to a combination of drinks, food and snacks. Our guide showed places that were out of the way and also gave us a history of each place as well. I could tell that she knew each owner and took pride in the tour she gave.
- Simonita_201600Great tour - absolutely recommendedKim was a fantastic guide! I really appreciated her knowledge about Melbourne, how she explained and anyone who had a question got an adequate answer - even after the official time she still was at our disposal. I would definitely book her again! I just have some comments which for sure is my personal opinion: I'd appreciate more savory stops instead of sweets (I loved the Dumplings and the Banh Mi) and if I may suggest 😉: ice cream directly before the last stop at a beautiful bar where you could taste some of the delicious Australian wines is not soooooo recommendable - maybe better quit either the one or the other or have another drink which goes better with the lovely taste of home-made ice-cream 😂

We booked this adventure through Red Balloon and we were really happy with the experience we had. We got to know new dumpling places in the city and it was nice walking around, getting to know a bit of Melbourne history, having dinner with friendly people and enjoying delicious dumplings. Our tour guide was Christie and she was amazing. 100% recommended.

Very fun little experience that shows you some of the best dumpling spots Melbourne has to offer. Our guide was knowledgeable and took care of everything from start to finish. The food was delicious and you got a wide variety of dumplings and restaurants to choose from. Loved every second of it

We enjoyed the tour, meeting Monique and of course eating great dumplings. As locals we learnt new things about our great city along the way. The fact that it was an amazing Spring evening also helped. It was really interesting.

Went on the dumpling walking tour with 7 other people. We were taken to 4 quality restaurants that we had never considered entering. Our tour guide explained the different provinces of China and the differing types of dumplings. Fun night with plenty of quality dumplings to eat. Learnt so much about the history of the Melbourne settlement of 1800’s along the way too. Fun night out!

We couldn’t recommend this tour and the lovely tour guide higher. Very lovely and relaxed tour guide who was very informative about Melbourne and dumplings. We were a very small group which made for a cosy night and guide was very accommodating about some unforeseen circumstances on our part. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Monique was a great tour guide and really knows her dumplings! The amount of food was quite plentiful and it was nice to try some things I wouldn't have ordered for myself - they were all delicious! Monique was kind enough to direct me how to get back to my hotel on the tram at the end also.

I received this tour as a gift and I'm so glad I did.
There was 4 of us in the tour and Sue was the guide. I've eaten in MANYYY Melbourne restaurants and cafes so it was going to take a bit for me to be surprised but I was. Total of 4 restaurants mixed with a bit of history.
Having lived in Melbourne almost my entire life, I loved this tour - especially the history part. There wasn't too much where I was getting bored but a couple of minutes in various parts was great including Block Arcade, Bourke St Mall , Chinatown - really interesting stuff.
Food wise - I won't spoil where we went but all were different and all delicious.
I recommend you do this tour and personally 4 + a guide is a perfect number. Well done and keep up the great work.

This tour was the most fun! Great tour guide (Sue), and group of people. We learnt alot about the various styles of dumplings, and sauces, the social context and history of the food, and of Melbourne in general.
We're born and bred in Melbourne but still learnt something new, and were taken to lots of interesting locations.
A great night!

A leisurely stroll and Melbourne history lesson as we made our way up from Flinders st to Chinatown (oldest such Chinatown in the world) to little Japan, sampling dumplings from a variety of styles. A small group of fellow travellers (8 or so) who were very nice, and a knowledgeable guide. A fun and different Melbourne food experience.
