- G3253NYdanielb0 contributionsPerfect introduction to the Yarra ValleyWe had an exceptionally pleasant day out exploring the wineries of the Yarra Valley, with very good company. It was an absolutely perfect introduction to the wine region. Shane should be commended for providing such a wonderful tour. Everything ran to time, with lots of opportunities to try some fabulous wines, especially chardonnays and pinot noirs. The lunch was excellent, both in terms of quality and location. We had the kangaroo! We loved all Shane’s anecdotes too. Thanks!Written November 2, 2024

- 949marythereseb0 contributionsYarra Valley Wildlife and Wine Day TourWe thoroughly enjoyed our Yarra Valley Wildlife & Wine Day Tour with Paul. The Healesville Wildlife Sanctuary provided a wonderful opportunity to see and learn about Australian wildlife. In fact, our experience there far surpassed that of subsequent visits to the rain forests in Kuranda & Daintree, in terms of being able to closely observe native Australian animals. From the Sanctuary, we traveled to the Yering Station Restaurant for lunch. The restaurant is lovely, and its setting, idyllic. Our lunch entrees and accompanying wine were outstanding. After lunch, we walked to the Yering Station Cellar Door for a tasting of some of their storied wines. Following our time at Yering Station, we traveled down the road to the De Bortoli Yarra Valley Estate for a wine & cheese pairing. Both tastings were very well done. The wine & cheese pairing was the perfect finale to such a lovely day. We are grateful to Paul for all he did to make it so. He was beyond pleasant, engaging and knowledgeable. We highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Melbourne!Written October 26, 2024
- Scenic422340 contributionsA Must Do All day Wine & Lunch TourWe truly enjoyed ourselves, as the day was nicely paced with plenty of time at each of the five vineyards we visited. We enjoyed learning about the grapes used to make each vineyards wine offerings. Lunch at Yerring Station was fabulous with lots of regional dishes to choose from in a beautiful scenic setting. A special treat was having Cam as our wine guide. He’s well known at the wineries we visited and he freely shared his years of wine experience with us throughout the day. We highly recommend the Yarra Valley all day wine with lunch tour.Written October 23, 2024

Started with a clear pre-pickup information, I joined the other visitors for the day trip. A small group of us were chauffeured and guided around Yarra Valley by Paul. The tour covers various types of vineyard and styles of wines. It also include a delicious lunch at a very scenic restaurant. Paul did a great job and I would highly recommend this Vinetreker tour.Written September 25, 2024

Rob is an excellent guide - knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. For example, we went out on Australia Day and Rob avoided heavy traffic coming back to Melbourne AND took us on a scenic route to see kangaroos and some beautiful countryside. Lunch was delicious as was wine and cheese later and the wildlife part of the tour was fun and educational. I highly recommend this if you want to sample nice Yarra Valley wines with good food, an overview of Australian wildlife and a great tour guide.

Stephen couldn’t have done any more at the start and during the tour. He quite clearly is passionate about his work and wine including guiding the not so experienced wine tasters in the group😁we loved the sanctuary time, the wonderful lunch and wine tasting and would recommend unreservedly. Small group size was definitely a plus this trip and is not one to miss

Lovely to hear from you Hope174 and thanks for your recommendation of our Yarra Valley Wildlife and Wine Daytour. Our small group tour is a definite winner as it's way more personal and interpersonal than the larger tours. It also allows our guides the opportunity to mix more easily with their guests just as Stephen was able to do on your tour. Having passionate and involved guides will elevate the guests' experience from good to great. It was a pleasure having you travel with us and thanks again for your support.

Paul was an absolute gem! My sister and I took this tour and coordinated pick up directly from our hotel in the CBD. Paul was prompt and efficient. Even with a full tour (9 people in total) he managed to answer all questions and be patient throughout the entire day. Not a moment was lost during the drive from downtown Melbourne to Yarra Valley. He also respected silence and didn't try to force conversation (definitely a must for guides on full day tour when everyone needs their moment of silence at some point!) He truly has a passion and deep knowledge for his work unmatched by anyone for this type of tour. You could tell he was comfortable and well-liked by everyone working at the places we visited and even supplemented the guides at each of the destinations with his own fun facts yet remained professional and didn't step on anyone's toes. 10/10 would do this tour again and would recommend. Paul, you rock!

This experience is a little more expensive than many of the winery tours on offer and for good reason. It’s a small group experience with private rooms allocated at the wineries for your tasting experiences. This experience showcased 2 wineries. DeBortoli where we had an excellent wine and cheese pairing tasting followed by Yering Station for another wine tasting followed by a delicious lunch with amazing views of the Yarra Valley from the restaurant.
We were then taken to Healesville Sanctuary for the remainder of the afternoon for a leisurely stroll seeing koalas, kangaroos and Tasmania Devils which included a really informative Keeper talk. There is another tour option which incorporates a further 3 wineries instead of the sanctuary if that is your preference.
Our gracious host, Paul then came to collect us for the journey back to Melbourne.
A wonderful day with a great group of people from all around the world.

Simply put… the best!
Paul was friendly, organised, punctual, knowledgeable (so so knowledgeable!) and joined in quietly to group activities allowing connections to form among the group throughout the day. His choice of Healesville Sanctuary for the morning was perfect - the animals were out and about and our volunteer tour guide Graham was just brilliant. His knowledge left me so inspired to know more.
Lunch at the Yering Station vineyard was superb - I’m vegetarian and they didn’t skimp on the creativity and quality of the good one bit.
The wine tasting though… well that was next level. We really enjoyed Yering Station and the wine was delicious but we moved on at the end to our last winery which blew us away… de Bortoli winery wine and cheese tasting was… well… Sensational!
I did another tour in Dandenong and Healesville with another company recently and they were very good but this one? Don’t hesitate… book it!!

Thanks EmmaC1601 for your generous review, we're stoked to hear that your Yarra Valley experience was the best. We bring together very impressive components that highlight native animals, great wine and food. It's a very balanced day and ideal if you're not wanting to visit 5 vineyards. Thanks so much for your support, it was very much appreciated.

I went on a Yarra Valley winery and Healesville Sanctuary tour. It was just a delight. Paul did a fantastic job of engaging the group throughout the day to make sure everyone was included as well as being super attentive to each member. He is close with all the venues stopped at and it feels bespoke with each site visited. It truly is an unforgettable experience.

This trip exceeded expectations... far more than a wine tasting and zoo trip.
The Animal Sanctuary trip included a personal guided tour from Graham, a gentle Auzzie gent. He was incredibly knowledgeable and it was clear that everyone who worked there was passionate about what they did. But the most striking feature was the beautiful fauna and flora that surrounded Australia's native animals.
From there we went for a top quality lunch and two stunning wineries for tasting numerous wines of the region. But the absolute star of the day was the matching of cheese with wine at the last stop.
Paul chauffeured, charmed, provided commentary and was attentive to every detail throughout the day.
Simply superb!

Wonderful to hear from you Stephen W and even better knowing that your recent tour to the Healesville Sanctuary and Yarra Valley exceeded your expectations. That puts a smile on all our faces. The setting at the sanctuary is world class and it's no wonder the animals and staff are all so happy there. Being able to then add a high quality lunch, wine and cheese is pretty special. Thanks for choosing to travel with us, we greatly appreciate it.

What a wonderful day!
The tour at Healesville Sanctuary was amazing. It is not a zoo, but a place for preservation and raising awareness regarding the importance the flora and fauna have in our lives. The close encounter with the koalas was nice and the Spirits of Sky presentation was unforgettable.
Yering and De Bortoli wineries were excellent. I had the chance to taste really good wines, the best shiraz I have ever tasted, and the lunch was perfect.
Rob, the guide, was kind and fun. He had a significant role in integrating all of the participants, making the day really pleasant.
It was my first day in Australia and I couldn't have had a better start.

If you are interested in visiting the Yarra Valley but a whole day of wine tasting is not what you are looking for, then this may be the perfect answer.
We had an outstanding day, visiting two wineries as well as the Healesville Wildlife Sanctuary. Our first winery De Bortoli, paired a different cheese with each of the five wines we tasted. At the second winery, Yering Station, our wine tasting was followed by lunch at their restaurant with splendid scenery to accompany a delicious meal and a glass of wine. The presentation of the food was as impressive as the flavors.
We then continued to the Sanctuary where we had over 2 hours to wander around and see all the animals plus the bird show (where you will be buzzed by some low-flying raptors and other birds). Our driver Shane did a great job in keeping everything perfectly organized and was punctual at every stop and every step of the way. Based on our experience I would definitely recommend Vinetrekker and would use them again.

Fantastic day exploring the Yarra Valley! Paul was wonderful. I appreciate how well he communicated—he sent me a note after I booked the tour and touched base beforehand so I knew exactly where to be and when. As a solo traveler visiting the area, I found that particularly helpful. The wine was exquisite and I learned so much. We had multiple tastings (I especially loved the cheese pairings!) While the rest of my group did 5 wineries, Paul worked it out to take me to the wildlife sanctuary after lunch. I found that two wineries and the sanctuary were the perfect combination for me. The Healesville Sanctuary is doing wonderful things for the Australian wildlife and the bird show was so fun! At the sanctuary, I had a volunteer guide who was very knowledgeable and walked me around, explaining interesting facts about the animals. When I joined the rest of the group, Paul had saved me a glass of rosé because I’d mentioned it’s my favorite wine—very kind of him! I also appreciated that it was a small group (which is both great in this post-COVID world and best for getting to know people on the tour). Thanks Paul—I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in Melbourne!

Thanks oawoniyi for taking the time to review your recent Yarra Valley Wildlife, Wine and Food Daytour and thrilled to hear you had a terrific experience. The combination of wine, food and native animals is an irresistable one, especially for time poor visitors and it's done so well in the Valley. Our small group format works well and allows good interaction amongst everyone. We're pleased you felt more than comfortable as a solo traveller and have nothing but great memories of your time with us. All the best and hopefully you'll get the opportunity to return to Melbourne.

There is an additional fee and it must be booked ahead.

What is the maximum number of people on the tour at one time and what type of vehicle is it? (there are just two of us)
Written March 29, 2019
The vehicle was a passenger van, seating approximately 12. There was only 10 in our group and it was a really nice size. I would highly recommend this tour and ask for Rob as your guide.

Also, what time do we arrive to the zoo? And who can we contact to tell any dietary restrictions to? I am vegan and am traveling with a vegetarian.
