Overview
The beautiful beaches, bushland, and nature reserves of Phillip Island lie just south of Melbourne. On this tour, enjoy four unforgettable wildlife encounters in one day—spot kangaroos at the Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park, tour a working sheep farm on Churchill Island, visit the Koala Conservation Centre, and watch the famous Penguin Parade on Summerland Beach.
What to Expect
Get picked up from your Melbourne hotel and set out on the 1.5-hour journey to Phillip Island. Before crossing the bridge to the island, stop along the Mornington Peninsula to visit the Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park. Follow the Wallaby Walk and spot a wide variety of native Australian animals, including wallabies, kangaroos, koalas, and dingoes.

After lunch at a local restaurant, visit the Churchill Island Heritage Farm, a working farm where you can see a sheepshearing demonstration and watch the sheepdogs at work.

Then set out to explore Phillip Island, starting with the Koala Conservation Centre, where you can observe koalas in their natural habitat. Stop to see the Nobbies rock formations, Seal Rocks, and Cape Woolamai before heading to Summerland Beach for the evening Penguin Parade: watch hundreds of little penguins waddle across the beach to their burrows.

Return to Melbourne, where your tour ends back at your hotel.

Seeing the smallest penguin

The penguin island tour also involves a visit to moonlit sanctuary where a small show by the rangers at 2.30pm is informative and enjoyable. The kangaroo and wallaby walk was nice. One could feed the animals. The walk at nobbies revealed penguins in their burroughs,...More

Penguins were very interesting, the rest of the tour not so much

If you like touristy things, you'd like this one. Hours on a bus with 27 people, dealing with lots of traffic. The sanctuary with the kangaroos and other animals was cool in that you get to feed the kangaroos when they hop right up to...More

Thanks for the feedback ebo, it's fair to say most people doing our tour haven't seen anything similar to what we see. We visit Moonlit Sanctuary which is an amazing place with so much Australian wildlife to get right up close to and seeing the...More

Yes! Smaller groups are so much nicer than big tour buses.
