About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- R1724LLandym0 contributionsExcellent day out viewing Australia’s wildlifeThis was a really enjoyable trip with our excellent guide Raquel. We had booked it primarily to see the Little Penguins at Phillip Island but the stop at Moonlit Sanctuary became the days highlight. Raquel was both knowledgeable and enthusiastic and really made it a great day out. All prior communication and pick up was superb and timely. A must do trip if you are staying in Melbourne.Written August 26, 2024
- seabrat760 contributionsUnforgettable Family AdventureI took my son on mother-son date on this tour. The views on the road and at every site were stunning! We were able to explore small towns and treated ourselves to ice cream from the award winning Dooley’s. We explored beaches and were in awe at the 12 Apostles and other landmarks of the area! Our guide, Noah, was so warm and welcoming towards us. He was a safe driver, shared a lot of his local knowledge and made some really great food recommendations. Thank you Noah and Bunyip Tours for this unforgettable experience!Written August 21, 2024

Her passion for the region was evident from the start, making each stop more than just sightseeing. Whether we were exploring Torquay, the lush rainforests, or the Twelve Apostles, her excitement was contagious. The day began perfectly with Camille’s delicious homemade muffins, adding a personal touch. She guided us to the best spots, including a breathtaking sunset view, all while sharing fascinating stories. Camille's warmth and enthusiasm made the trip truly memorable. The trip was fantastic and well worth the money. There were so many beautiful stops and insightful commentary by our guide, Aaron, who was so invested in making sure we all had a great time. It was made even better by the frequent opportunities for photos at beautiful landscapes and stops at seaside towns for lunch and dinner on the beach.
I would definitely recommend bringing water bottles and snacks for the road as sometimes you can be travelling for 2 hours between stops. Also, sunscreen and a hat is a must!

Had a blast on the 12 Apostles trip with our guide Aaron today. He was absolutely amazing and went above and beyond to ensure that we got the best experience, offered to take pictures and shared interesting stories.
Aaron was also extremely knowledgeable about history, flora and fauna of the area and I learned a ton on the tour! Tons of beautiful scenery and we were able to spot some wild koalas as well as see a gorgeous rainforest. 10/10 will be recommending Aaron as a guide and this tour to my friends!!

12 hours appeared to be a long time stuck in a little bus, but, it was anything but boring or tiresome.
Chloe was our guide, driver, tea maker and little pearl of wisdom. Fantastic and funny explanations with hints along with great suggestions of the best places to view the sights from.
If Chloe suggests something then you just know it is worth the try, even down to the best pie and ice cream.
The day itself was marred by a little low cloud and some mist at the 12 Apostles but it did not detract from the great views, the weather stayed dry until the drive back to Melbourne.
Plenty of stops with photo opportunities are on the trip so always have the camera ready.
Be prepared for some steps down to a couple of beaches but worth the trouble especially at Gibson steps, Shipwreck Cove is worth the walk.
The hunt was on for a Koala, which is not a bear, was taken on by all and when one was spotted the cameras were well used.
Very highly recommend Bunyip tours and if Chloe is your guide and driver then you know you will be in for the best day out.

It’s the last minute decision to book the tour, but it’s really worth going! Our guide Noah was really sweet and thoughtful and responsible. Telling jokes and playing Aussie songs during the whole ride just to make sure we didn’t get bored. Introducing knowledge so that we can know more about Australia. Most importantly, driving and getting us back safely. The scenic places we went were so breathtaking especially when it’s a sunny day and you can take many picturessssss! Also the koalas! We got the chance to spot two today! How lucky!

We used a company called Autotopia and had the privilege of a wonderful driver named Tara. Aside from the 90 minutes it took to get out of Melbourne - talk about sprawl, the trip was great. We were on the road together for twelve hours, and packed more into that than one can imagine. The roiling Bass Strait, the beautiful temperate rain forest, complete with beech trees, koalas and king parrots, the great vibe of the seaside Apollo Bay, the wonderful stories of how & why each area got its colourful name, and of course the Apostles - a sight to behold. Oh, and did I mention the chocolatieri? Gourmet chocolate & ice cream! If you only have a day to see the Great Ocean Road, do this trip. You don’t even have to get up at the crack of dawn to do it. And ask for Tara to be your driver. You will have a blast.

The guide left the pickup point without attempting to call or look for me. Uncleared pickup instruction whether it is street side or hotel lobby pickup. I had to contact the tour office and took a taxi to catch the bus at the next pick up point. The 24 seater bus is packed full of people not much space to relax in. I was asked to give up my original seat to make way for a couple who boarded the bus later than me. The guide did not provide very useful information at each stop for traveller to make good choices. Bad weather, sub-standard service, tight space and long bus ride. Not a pleasant experience.

One of the greatest frustration tour operators experience is guests who fail to read their confirmation messaging, and then blame the tour operator when there are difficulties experienced with their tour pickup. Had the reviewer taken the time to actually read the correspondence sent via the Viator messaging system, their pickup would have been smooth and other guests would not have been inconvenienced by the delays caused. The issues at the beginning of the tour have clearly impacted on the guest experience to the point that they are blaming the weather (amongst other things) and in separate correspondence told us we shouldn't go to our advertised tour destinations when the weather is poor, but should find other places to go instead. Clearly they know much more than we do about travelling in Victoria's regions, so we will defer to their greater knowledge & experience... but only after they can show us that they have read their confirmation details.

We were able to see all the spots we wanted to see! We saw 4 koalas along the way and stopped to take photos. Mike, our tour guide, made sure we covered everything and gave concise and interesting information for each spot. He also knows when to take a break and let us rest! The seats in the van were comfortable too!

Our guide and driver Sarah was great. We felt safe with her driving and she was knowledgeable of all aspects of the areas and had interesting stories.
She was upbeat and smiling the entire day.
She handled a problem passenger with professionalism and a smile.
The helicopter ride was worth the money.

Kevin our guide made the trip so memorable. He was very knowledgeable, funny, friendly, welcoming & getting to know everyone, even remembered our names. The Apostles , Loch Ard Gorge & Otway rainforest walk were the highlights. We had amazing weather which was a bonus for Melbourne. Truly a fantastic day tour we’ll never forget.

We are going to be on a cruise and we disembark at 8am but have to be back by 6pm. For Dec. 24th do you have a shorter excursion?
Written April 27, 2020
Great Ocean Road drive is a long one. There are tour operators who leave Melbourne CBD as early as 5 or 6 am to get back by 6 pm. However if you disembark around 8 am the chances are you will need to go on a tour later than that. These tour operators start around 9 am but go around the city to collect travelers from various pick up points and leave on the actual journey around 11 am. When you book the tour they will ask you for a preferred pick up location and give you the time for pick up. In my experience the entire tour takes about 12 hours so I think it will be cutting it too fine to take a chance on one of these long 1/2 day tours. Anyway, check on Tripadvisor or Google Great Ocean Road or 12 Apostles and you will be amazed at the choice and price range. Be mindful to check customer reviews prior to booking and also read the cancellation policy and refund policy carefully. Hope you enjoy your cruise in December and also enjoy your time in Melbourne. Take care!

Hi, I have checked the official website and noted there is an option for helicopter flight, could you advise how could we Opt for it? Also, may I also know the pick up point and the drop of point?
Written April 29, 2019
Not sure how to book it, but it takes off and lands right near the 12 Apostles - just off the Great Ocean Road. We saw it operating on the day we were there (26th April 2019) - I was surprised it was operating as it was quite windy (and cold) at the lookouts.

There are many tours that do the trip you will have to contact the tour operator to see the requirements. It is the tour guide and transport that you pay for all the sites are free.
I am sorry that I cannot help any more.

Hi, can we bring a toddler to this tour? Thanks
Written September 3, 2018
As the tour is a whole-day tour, it can be a bit tiring; however, there's a lot of stops to walk, stretch, eat, and have a bit of fun. I believe a toddler would be completely fine :)

I and my daughter are interested to join this tour in mid September but we'll be staying at Wodalla St Kurunjang. May I know where is your nearest pick up point from there? We await for your respond before booking. Thank you.

I believe it would be a bit complicated to get picked up at your location. However, I would recommend contacting the agency directly (03) 9650 9680 or, contacting, for example, StudentFlights, who manage, and help you book Bunyip Tours and are able to let you know all about pick up points, and help you find the best one for you :)
