Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Tourist2888340 contributionsFabulous day out.Had a wonderful tour, thanks to our very knowledgeable and humorous driver and guide, Colin. (terrible dad jokes) Thoroughly recommendedWritten March 14, 2025
- Christine K0 contributionsA must do in TasmaniaThis area is so serene and peaceful. The vegetation is lush and green and the waterfalls spectacular. It is an old and historical part of Tasmania.Written March 12, 2025
- Christine K0 contributionsA must see in Tasmania.Do not miss this! There is definitely a presence here. To think of the horrific life these poor convicts suffered makes us glad that we were not one of them!Written March 12, 2025
- Z1380MEmichaelc0 contributionsVery lovely place, would be great to be living in one of the houses on displayTrip there in bus was good, learnt a lot about port arthur and tasmania in general, port arthur itself was beautifully kept, with many buildings in various states of damage but very well looked after . The Isle of death cruise was very good, and the guide told us a lot about people that were buried there, along with stories of people escaping and being caught and sent back, to van diemens land. The cruise could have been a bit longer, and you would need at least two days to really see the whole area, getting to see the houses that are beautifully kept inside.Written March 11, 2025
- taffyjan0 contributionsFood for thought!Excellent day out, so much to see and the history makes you think of life would have been in the 1800’s. Cruise element was very interesting around the Isle of dead and how the different classes were buried. Also how young some of those incarcerated were - 9 yrs old having stolen a silk handkerchief, definitely worth a visitWritten March 11, 2025
- patriciasB1334KU0 contributionsGreat day with ColinWe thoroughly enjoyed our day with Colin. His knowledge base of the area is extensive and his banter engaging. His instructions were clear and he made sure that everyone was having a good experience. We especially enjoyed the cave and Tasman arch views. Highly recommend this tour.Written March 10, 2025
- Vicki C0 contributionsThank you Colin. This was in no doubt the best day trip I've ever done.I was a bit concerned that the length of the trip would be too long. It was actually too short. My enjoyment of the day was made extra special by the personality and professional nature of our driver Colin. What an all round incredible man. In addition my fellow travellers on the coach were extremely pleasant and I was able to make 3 new friends to look out for at Salamanca Markets today. Highly recommend this trip to seniors travelling solo.Written March 7, 2025
- jkaway1110 contributionsGreatAllan was an experienced and excellent communicator. His light hearted nature made the day more enjoyable. The bus was clean and comfortable. Good time was allotted to all stops, we did not feel rushed. We have not travelled as a tour group before however after this trip will be very happy to do so again. Thanks Allan and crewWritten March 5, 2025
- L3604CEingridm0 contributionsPort Arthur reviewGreat day trip out, our bus driver/tour guide Mark was great. Our tour guide Carl around Isle of the dead was also great. We stopped off for short breaks going and coming back. Harbour cruise great as well. I would recommend this tour. weather great too. Moment to reflect in the memorial site.Written March 3, 2025
- Yvonne N0 contributionsHistory, scenery, and adventure all in oneThe tour was a fantastic experience. The main attraction, Port Arthur Historic Site, was so interesting to explore. Walking through the Penitentiary felt like stepping back in time, and it was made even better by the amazing water views that followed you wherever you walked. Every stop along the way, from Richmond to Pirates Bay Lookout, added something special, but Remarkable Cave ended up being my favourite. The views there were absolutely breathtaking, and it felt like discovering a hidden treasure along the coastline. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and entertaining, keeping the day fun and engaging. The tour itself was well-organised and well-paced, with plenty of time to take photos, enjoy each spot, and really soak it all in. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Hobart. It is a perfect mix of history, scenery, and a bit of adventure.Written March 1, 2025
- Daydream212412970270 contributionsNot a "Guided" Tour"It advertises "full day guided tour" and is not! The driver Paul liked to tell irrelevant "jokes" while driving - gave misleading "information" by saying that there were no tours at Port Arthur anymore and it's all "self guided". This made things chaotic as he walked us to an area where we could go through the barrier with our pre paid ticket then left us to find our way to everything until his later return. It wasn't until after a couple of hours wandering around that I had found that I had missed out on "guided tours" which I could have paid extra for had we been taken to the main and large arrival desk instead of going through another area. If we had been taken to the arrival area there was not only an area where we could view a commentary but also several information counters. I found this when leaving Port Arthur instead of on arrival. The driver’s lack of up to date knowledge was very misleading and turned it into a chaotic day that didn't have to be. I had originally booked a shuttle but the information centre in Hobart recommended this trip instead as it was advertised as a "full day guided tour"! Very misleading! Very unnecessarily disappointing!Written March 1, 2025
- Rachel H0 contributionsGood experienceAlan, the bus driver and commentator, was amazing and really knew his stuff! The tour itself was really good, with only 16 people on our bus. We stopped at a few places on the way up to Port Arthur, as well as on the way back, some excellent photo opportunities. Overall I had a great time and it made the experience of solo travelling, not feel so lonely.Written February 27, 2025
- kerriec5800 contributionsSimply magical!Russell Falls has three tiers of water falling majestically over the rocks. Simply beautiful. The walk then to the Tall Trees, Horseshoe Falls and the Lady Baron Falls was out of this world. The temperate rainforest was lovely to be surrounded by; such a peaceful and amazing place. Truely lucky . The Russell Falls has easy access; the others take more effort.Written February 26, 2025
- iowacityia0 contributionsMonday, February 17th, full day tour.My wife and I were picked up from the arranged spot on the Harrington street side of the Travelodge Hotel. Only a short walk away from our hotel. We were picked up at 8am. After a couple other stops to pick up more folks, we were on our way. Barry was our guide. He was great! Very friendly, and personable. He gave us great information during our trip. Our bus tour stayed on time, and we were able to visit everything as promised. The bus itself was clean and comfortable. Sometimes we had trouble hearing/ understanding Barry, sitting at the rear of the tour bus, but most of the time it was fine. We had a great time on this tour.Written February 25, 2025

Our driver Barry was good giving information of places as we traveled through.
Richmond is a quiet little village with a bridge and a gaol but not much else just a tourist trap really
Bonorong we arrived early after leaving Richmond early
Waited for the guided tour which was informative and the guide was amusing and genuine
The work they do is great
Only downside was after he finished we had literally 10 minutes to rush round feed the kangaroos and see the rest of the animals which simply wasn’t enough time could of done with atleast another half an hour

Peter was our driver/guide. He gave us much information about Richmond, Hobart and Tasmania on our way to Richmond. He made sure everyone was happy including my 10-year old daughter who looked a bit dull that day. He cared to show us around Bonorong before the start of the official tour and pretty much gave us a highlight around the Dock area. He’s just awesome!

A fantastic place where animals are cared for and rehabilitated! Wonderful people, the 'feeding frenzy' tour was an amazing spectacle, feeding most of the meat eaters, including the Tasmanian devil. I highly recommend this place!!

What a waste of time and money. For the $69 each it cost to get in I got to see one Tasmanian Devil and some Kangeroos. Most of the pens with animals on display appeared to be empty, they probably were not but nocturnal animals and day time visits are not comparable so for the money they charge for entry it was so not worth the fee.

Hi HeathT, Thank you for your review. We appreciate you bringing your concerns to our attention. We are sorry to hear of your disappointment. We are a little surprised by your review. We have been taking guests to Bonorong for decades. Bonorong is a loved sanctuary, and it is unusual they receive negative reviews. We will absolutely follow up your concerns with Bonorong and we thank you for taking the time to provide your valuable feedback.

Wonderful- broad range of animals; staff very well informed, committed & skilled at giving us information on each animal. It's impressed on visitors it's a wildlife sanctuary not a zoo - the rationale is simple: rehabilitate as many native animals as possible- the details of volunteers involved & their many roles was also very interesting. No government funding means it's even more impressive. Well worth a visit

This wildlife sanctuary is well worth the short drive from Hobart, Tasmania to see. There is a huge paddock with dozens of kangaroos ready to eat feed from your hands. There are dozens of different animals to see in very natural habitats. The guided tours are small group with very knowledgeable docents. Great place.

Our cruise ship was diverted from Port Arthur to Hobart and we found this tour on-line. When we arrived at 12:00 the 1:00 tour was sold out but Tim found an additional vehicle and we were off. Tim was a great tour guide throughout. The Richmond gaol, bridge, and town were great from a historical perspective. The sanctuary was a real jewel. We went to see Tasmanian Devils which we saw in great numbers, but we also saw wombats, rare birds, emus, snakes, and were able to feed and touch the kangaroos that were roaming free. It was also good to know that the facility was staffed with volunteers and all the money was being used for animal rescue and rehabilitation.

Our driver guide, Tim, was fun and informative. The four hour timeframe was ideal for having a quality experience at both Richmond and the sanctuary. Also, I had inadvertently booked for wrong date (which had passed) and the staff graciously rebooked me for correct date w/o any additional cost. Overall, a 5 star experience for these two sites for those folks who have limited time.

We took the excursion from the Holland America Noordam Cruise ship. We were so looking forward to seeing Australian animals. We were however disappointed that many of these species are nocturnal. There were a couple of cages with nice looking birds in them but it was not possible to get good photos. The large cages had very heavy large black wire screens with perhaps one inch squares to look through! No doubt some of these birds could be a danger to humans, but perhpas they could replace the screens in some areas with plexiglass so that we could see and photograph the birds. They provided food which one could feed the wallabies, but they were really lazy and didn't appear too hungry! I did get some photos of a wombat, rabbits, and of course the Tasmanian Devils. The facility is located on a hillside and was difficult to navigate for older folks.

Thank you for your review and for providing some valuable feedback on Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary. Bonorong has always been a favourite amongst our guests for many years, notably for their leadership in Wildlife rescue, seabird rehabilitation and for the first in Tas, a purpose built wildlife only veterinary hospital. I can understand you point regarding the photography and we will certainly pass on your suggestions to Bonorong. Unfortunately, the wallabies and kangaroos can be very well fed on busy cruise ship days. Thank you again for taking the time to review us.

Small bus, so not a massive group, which was good and a chatty driver. An hour or so exploring Richmond, a quaint town with a good ice cream shop! Then, to the wildlife sanctuary to see Tasmanian Devils and echidna. Sadly, the wombats were asleep after a hard day of being looked at. Lots of kangaroos to hand feed and knowledgable guide for the included talk. Worth the trip.
