Great bus trip with excellent driver
Loved the bus ride. Very scenic on a small ribbon of asphalt up the mountain with wonderful views when cloud permitted. No great views of Hobart from the top, due to cloud, but we stopped a couple of time s on the way up and back to get views. The driver, Greg, gave an informative commentary. Although we didn't get the hoped for views at the top it was still very interesting. Rocks and low growing plant life. COLD. Leftover snow and icy puddles. Would definitely recommend. If I was staying longer I would have done some of the walks available.

    Would come back again!
Had a great tour guide/bus driver who was knowledgeable, funny, and had good vibes about him. He drove expertly and safely, which makes a difference for those with a fear of heights! Unfortunately we went up on a cloudy day, so couldn’t see much from the top - but nevertheless a good experience and we still got some views on the road. Definitely would come back again.

    Good trip
Bus was good, clean & today. Driver, Greg, was fun and informative. safe driving on very windy, narrow & steep roads. Great views and plenty if time at the top to take pictures. Dress appropriately - it gets cold on the top!

    An amazing experience
Very happy I booked this tour. It provided a hassle-free way to reach and explore the summit of Mount Wellington. The pick-up was a smooth process. The staff were lovely and very informative. I had a great time with this tour. I would only say the tour would be even better if there was an option to stop somewhere below the summit to take photos of the city on cloudy days (when you can only see clouds from the summit), other than waiting 1+ hours for the next bus. Had a great day but didn't get any photos of the city below due to the clouds.

    Great Tour.
A fantastic tour. The scenery was insane to be honest. It was quite chilly in the middle of may but it was so cool being able to see some ice up on the top. The guide (Paul) was so knowledgeable and funny and kept track of everyone so well. I'm very happy that I went on the tour and definitely recommend.

    Worthwhile Experience
This was a great option for us to be able to see Mount Wellington given we don’t drive. Purchased tickets online (I’d suggested booking at least 24 hours plus in advance if you can - the early morning tickets always sold out) and the bus stop was conveniently located outside the Hydro Tasmania building. The driver/guide was friendly and informative and the spacing of the visit and stops were well timed. I’m 6 ft 1 and struggled to fit my legs behind the seat, so if you’re tall try to nab the first row of seats which have additional leg room. We had visibility from the top of the mountain which was incredible, but even if you don’t it still feels other worldly to be up there. Worth noting there are toilets and a lookout at the top of the mountain, but no other facilities. Great option if you don’t drive or don’t feel confident driving up the mountain.

    Amazing tour
Amazing tour with our guide Paul, although wet and cloud cover prevented us seeing any views we still had a great time and appreciated the landscape of the mountains instead.

Two and 1/2 hours well spent!
Great trip up to the summit lookouts on kunanyi/Mt Wellington with Paul our driver who kept us entertained with his knowledge of the area. Pity the mist cleared just as we were leaving the summit but the views on the way up and down were wonderful.

    Great tour!!!
Great tour. Went up Mt Wellington first up in the morning however the weather conditions was bad with thick fog therefore we couldn’t see views when at The Pinnacle. The 48-hour hop on-off was a great overview of Hobart city which was included as part of this tour. Would recommend if you are a solo traveller and do not wish to rent a car in Hobart.

the view was amazing, but when we get to the top, too foggy cannot see clearly. Provides clear knowledge with regards to the history of tasmania and the founder.

Trip was great; our driver Tony was safe, knowledgeable and fun. Would highly recommend this as the way to see the mountain. I imagine driving yourself could be treacherous.

Just as cold on the bus as it was on the mountain
The Tour was great ! Our tour guide was very informative but unfortunately had the air con on in the bus for the whole time apparently to acclimatise us ! ( his words ) Everyone froze the entire trip which really spoiled it for most of us

Fantastic experience with kunanyi/Mt Wellington Explorer Bus. We did the One Way Tour and found the bus very comfortable, the tour guide exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful, and the experience itself would be one we'd definitely do again.
The guide took us to the top of kunanyi so we could enjoy the view and take photos and then brought us a little further down the mountain to where it was safe to start our walk down to Fern Tree. The views were breathtaking and the walk was well signposted and easy to follow.
I would highly recommend this experience to others.

Easy to book online and convenient departure point. We took our bikes to the top of Mount Wellington on the bus for the down hill ride. How majestic to be above the clouds on the top of Mount Wellington. So many walking paths to take from the top so if you like to hike best get up there early and dress for warmth! Our driver Tony was super friendly and really knowledgeable about Hobart giving us commentary (and some humour) along the way, he made the trip from Hobart very enjoyable.

Thoroughly enjoyed the trip up the mountain with Dave the driver/guide. As we were going to be walking down Mt Wellington, he pointed out the various walking track start/finish points and landmarks along the way. Would highly recommend the explorer bus.

A really great trip to the most wondrous views of Hobart and the surrounding area. We took a one-way trip up and walked back. There are a lot of trails to choose from and it's quite easy to take the wrong one and miss the best views and end up in the wrong place. The driver was excellent and couldn't do enough to help everyone have the best experience. As the Zig zag track is currently closed, we walked towards Springs staring at the chalet which meant we were rewarded with wonderful views of Hobart the whole time. A great day out.

I went with my two sons on the bus and we thoroughly enjoyed the tour. We liked the the stories told by Christian and his warmness to the group. We liked the brief stop at the Springs to go for a hike. The One Way tour suited us because we wanted to do more hiking. The only problem was that we couldn't always hear him talking through the microphone though we mostly did. I recommend this experience rather than driving up the mountain.

A very enjoyable trip. A bus ride to the top, and then a walk down the mountain.
The cloud was low when we got to the top, but it cleared and the views were spectacular on a beautiful day. The main Zig Zag Track was closed for repairs, but I came down the South Wellington Track which then joins other tracks. At The Springs there was a choice of routes down.
