This tour is well worth it Alex our guide was friendly knowledgeable and very accomodating to make everyone’s day enjoyable. The bus was comfortable with only a small group. the stops were exactly as described plenty of toilet breaks and opportunities to get different options of food. Despite wet weather during our hike we found it a wonderful trail and well worth the effort for the views. This trip is highly recommended.

Loved the visit to Devils Corner for a quick wine taste and feed. Would recommend weekend visit for a higher chance of a musical performance. Views were beautiful, didn't feel rushed at any stage of the tour, but would've enjoyed a bit more time for Wine Tasting.

After a great day touring the east coast and Freycinet National park, which of course includes stunning views of Wineglass Bay, its wonderful to be able to visit a local winery and sample some local produce, or if sweets take your fancy, Kates Berry farm is always a delight. These are just two of the great destinations that Wineglass bay Discovery tours will share with you! It’s lovely that you wanted to spend more time, it’s very tempting most days but unfortunately it is just a day tour! Glad you could join us.

We started early at 730am and went direct to Swansea with a couple quick scenery stops and curried scallop pies along the way. Completed the Wineglass Bay walk and followed by a swim at Honeymoon Bay.Sensationasl and fresh! Lunch was at Devils Corner winery, with a quick beveragino at the oldest pub in Tassie - ye Old Buckland Inn. Probably should have swapped stop to the Richmond hotel as well, such a beautiful little town on the way back to Hobart.
Alex was a great host and told us all about where we were with historic info as well. Nothing was a problem for him.
Definitely recommend chatting with him prior to booking via his Facebook page so you can customise what you are after

Alex the guide was very nice, but the whole tour fell off the tracks, when there was low cloud and we could not view wineglass bay. After that it was chaos just visiting uninteresting beaches in the area, just filling in time until visiting the underwhelming ‘winery’ which basically charged you for everything and the food, which you had to buy, was ordinary, as was Kates berry farm; they both just try to sell you a product, no education, no effort to accommodate the group. And to top off an unexpiring day, Alex decides that the 4 oldest persons on the bus can walk a couple of blocks to their hotel, instead of dropping them off, which was the arrangement. This tour was not worth the money and just stunk - mainly because the bus was old and the air conditioning didn’t work properly!

Well, if I knew who you were I would address you by name in answering your review.
Let me start by saying that unfortunately the Tasmanian weather is not something any of us can control and it is disappointing when it does not align with our tour. But we do our best to make the day interesting, still visiting the sites we can see.
Most people enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the winery for lunch and our itinerary states that lunch is not included in the tour price. I’m also surprised as I don’t think I have ever received a negative remark about sampling sweets at Kates berry farm!
Now, while the bus is no longer in show-room condition I can assure you it is not old! It is my office and my livelihood. As such it is regularly serviced and cleaned thoroughly after every tour. The air conditioner works perfectly fine but it too was challenged by the Tasmanian weather as temperatures began to increase throughout the afternoon.
As for the four customers who chose to get off and walk to their hotel, they did so due to the inconvenience of Hobart’s one-way streets and traffic congestion that would have further delayed their drop-off by 15 minutes or more.
We always appreciate feedback from our visitors but it sounds like you were having as bad a day as the weather we encountered.
Kind regards
Alex (owner, operator, “very nice guide”)

Fabulous and full day trip with Alex proving to be a great tour guide. An early start but the bakery stop off made for the perfect late breakfast and coffee for us! The walk up to the lookout was comfortable for us (we are walkers in our 60s, 70s) and the track itself very well maintained. Alex was flexible with the itinerary (within the time constraints) and as the weather permitted we had a beach stop and even a dip for the hardy at the end the walk. Late lunch at a winery was just right and the stop at the berry farm for ‘dessert’ was well timed. It is an all day excursion but so nice to have someone else drive and keep us entertained and informed. We had a great group of people along with us. We happily recommend this trip.

We had the best day so far in Tassie. There was a great mix of people on the bus who all got into the spirit of being on holidays. The day was full of laughter and magnificent photo opportunities. Alex our tour guide was so lovely and joined in all the fun. A truly memorable day. Just a tip, if the bus is too hot, too cold or the music is too loud or you can’t hear what is being said, tell Alex and he will sort it out. Please don’t leave a bad review as it’s very unfair and can impact his livelihood. Thanks Alex. DG

Great Trip, gorgeous scenery, a lot of walking, come prepared with water, bug spray, and good shoes.
Nov 2021
I thoroughly enjoyed my day but there were a few little things that I think need to be improved which is what stopped me from giving a 5 for this experience.
Overall, Alex was a wonderful guide. Very friendly and he had very interesting stories. I struggled a bit with the climb to the Wineglass Bay lookout as I don't do well in the heat, and I am a severe asthmatic and do carry excess weight, but he was very understanding and accommodating. He kept trying to motivate me which was nice and I appreciated that. Alex was a good and safe driver also and all of the stops were very interesting and I enjoyed. It was frustrating having lunch very late in the day, but thankfully we all had a nice stop in the morning at a bakery where we all ate something which helped. I would have liked a longer top in Richmond too, but I understand it's not really possible.
You do need a reasonable amount of fitness for this tour. While I knew that was the case, and I'm not the fittest person in the world, but can usually do anything, I didn't realise how strenuous the walk would be on my body to get to the lookout, so you need to prepare yourself. You need to be in comfortable clothing, have good walking shoes, a lot of water, bug spray and maybe even some snacks. I thought given it was Tassie and it was cooler, mozzies wouldn't be an issue. How wrong I was.
Compared to other guides I've been with on walking/hiking type trips, guides have always had with them top ups of water for their clients, bug spray, sunscreen, hydralite tablets etc. I would have liked to have known in advance that this sort of thing wouldn't have been supplied or may have been needed. If I had known that Freycinet had a huge mosquito issue, I would have coated myself in bug spray and brought some along as I did have some back at the hotel. I thankfully brought my own bottled water and sunscreen but the others in my group didn't as they thought it would be supplied. I was however very appreciative that he had some spare hiking poles and that hiking pole Alex leant me kept me going as I don't know if I would have made it otherwise.
I just felt he wasn't as prepared as other guides are out there, but still a very good guide and I did enjoy my day. I think you just have to prepared to supply absolutely everything yourself - particularly water and bug spray. The mozzies at Freycinet are insane. I am still, a week after coming home, coated in itchy mosquito bites all over my legs and arms from my day. Don't forget your bug spray.
The scenery is spectacular, absolutely breathtaking, and you will enjoy your day, but it's a very tiring day. Make sure to get a good night sleep before hand and don't forget that bug spray!

Thank you for your detailed review! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the tour. Its a good idea to wear comfortable shoes on a tour that includes walking, as listed on our website. We also suggest you bring a water bottle which can be refilled prior to walking to the lookout. Sunscreen, Insect repellent and sanitizer are available on the bus for client use. The tour does not include food but we provide the opportunity to purchase food and drinks when we stop at the Swansea Bakery for a morning break at around 9:30. Snacks to enjoy later in the day can be purchased at this time. Lunch break time is negotiated within the group, normally around 1:30.
I am really glad that you made it to the lookout to enjoy the views of Wineglass Bay

Where do I start......this is without doubt one of the best day trips I have ever been on.
Alex runs the show from being a fantastic host and driver and by the end of the day, you will feel part of his family. He is such a lovely guy.
The tour, although a full day, doesn't ever feel that way. It is broken up into parts from beach visits, rest stops, brunch stop, lunch stop, ice cream stop, and of course the major attraction is of course Wineglass Bay itself but the journey along the way makes the whole trip worthwhile.
Honeymoon Bay for me was the best part of the trip (photo attached) but of course Wineglass Bay itself (photo attached too) was obviously a highlight too.
Alex will hold your hand in the climb up to Wineglass Bay lookout and although strenuous, it is worth it and Alex does the climb easily (at age 67 too mind you).
There is not enough superlatives to tell you that this tour was my highlight of my 4 days in Hobart and I will do this again just to see Alex again and say hello.
Be sure to book this and say hello to Alex for me please.
A fantastic day trip to one of the best natural places on earth.
A must.

Alex was an excellent tour guide. He was informative, entertaining and took the trouble to ensure that everyone was comfortable and supported on the Wineglass Bay walk which was not easy for some of us. There were many interesting stops on a thoroughly entertaining and well planned trip. As a small group we all interacted which added to the enjoyment.

We had a lovely day with our tour guide Alex.
Everything was well-paced and we did not feel rushed. All of the places we stopped had spectacular views, and the 30-40 minute walk up to Wineglass Bay lookout did not feel too tiring since Alex made sure that we were going at a relaxed pace. We even had some extra time at the winery due to an unexpected "turn" of events, and even with that, we still managed to hit Kate's Berry Farm for some of the best ice cream we've ever tasted.
Alex has some good music on board btw, and he's more than happy to take requests, or turn it down depending on the group's preference. He's very open/easy to talk to. Overall, I would definitely recommend this day trip for someone who wants a taste of Freycinet from Hobart.

What is probability of seeing wallabies or devils on this tour?
Written July 6, 2022
Hi, Unfortunately, you will not see any devils as they are more nocturnal so the best place to see one is at a wildlife park. As for wallabies it is possible but when we went we didn't see any.
