    Excellent drivers & commentary
I was lucky to have a beautiful day to be able to see all around Mt Wellington. Ed stopped along the way to see more views & was an excellent driver. The driver of the Hop On Hop Off bus even dropped us off at the cruise terminal so we would have plenty of time to reboard the ship.

    Look around Hobart
We bought a combo ticket, for Mt Wellington first. Fabulous views along the way as well as at the top. Changed bus to the double decker, then did a Hobart city tour. It timed in well to get off at the Casino for lunch. Then an hour later got back on to finish the loop.

    Mount Wellington and Cascade Brewery
A group of about 10 of us went on a trip to Mount Wellington (we came off the Resilient Lady Cruise ship for a day in Hobart). The bus was on time and our driver Paul (I think) was friendly and full of information along the way. We spent around 30mins at the lookout then hopped off the bus at the Cascade Brewery for a few drinks and a light snack. Hopped on another bus that took us back to near the wharf where our ship was. Everyone had a pretty enjoyable time. Highly recommended.

    Hobart
Shore day of cruise ship. Bus was late getting to pick up point and not all could get on as it was full. Whilst we enjoyed the places of interest did not know that there would be an extra cost to visit that place, so consequently we stayed on the bus for the round trip.

Driver was very friendly and I enjoyed the commentary and scenic tour
The driver was very friendly and I enjoyed the commentary, although it was difficult to hear at times. I also enjoyed the scenic tour but the driver didn't stop when I wanted to get off even after I pressed the stop button. Not enough time to allow passengers to depart, I made sure to quickly exit the next time I wanted to depart.

Great way to get your bearings in Hobart
The Red Decker company in Hobart offers multiple tours but we did the Mount Wellington/Kunanyi bus tour on our first day, and the Red Decker (hop on/hop off) on the second day bay. Both our drivers were named Paul, and both had brilliant anecdotes to share on our trips about the local places we would drive past. The Mt Wellington tour was about two and a half hours and we were lucky enough to have perfectly clear weather at the pinnacle, which resulted in beautiful photos. Equally the red decker was a fab way to get oriented in Hobart and we stopped off at the Botanic Gardens for our morning tea and to see the amazing conserved parklands contained. The buses were equally comfortable and exceptionally clean. Very recommended.

    Bad experience
I came with to Tasmania by a cruise a d decided to book the 90m tour. So, I booked for 22 people we were family and friends. The bad thing was the tour length. It was only 50m and it was advertised 90m. Really bad experience.

Not recommended for those with mobility issues
Four of us did this tour when there was a cruise ship docked, so there was an altered half-hourly timetable and there were a lot of people doing the tour at our 10 am slot. We had lunch booked at 12 pm at Cascade Brewery restaurant. That section of the brewery doesn't open until 12 pm, but we thought we'd get off at an earlier stop and get back on the next bus. One person in our party uses a wheelchair and two use walking sticks. The helpful staff at the starting point advised that accessibility would be difficult at some stops and others weren't worth getting off for, so we were better off going to the brewery and looking around the gardens until 12. Maybe they didn't realise that if you want to access the gardens before 12 you have to walk up a lot of stairs, so we could only wait outside the restaurant for an hour. After lunch we returned to the bus stop. We were the only passengers waiting. There were lots of seats on the bus, but the driver advised he already had two wheelchairs on board and there was no space to harness any more, which he was legally obliged to do. He was the only grumpy Red Decker staff member we encountered. All the rest were absolutely lovely. There was no shelter from the sun at the bus stop so we went back to the brewery and when we returned for the next bus there was a huge queue. We didn't know if there would be room or whether this bus had also reached its wheelchair quota. We did manage to get on the bus but I had to stand all the way, as did other passengers, including the ones who gave up their seats for the three in my group who couldn't stand. We wasted a lot of time waiting around when we could have been seeing things, so my advice is get on the bus at the first stop and don't get off if you just want to glimpse Hobart and guarantee yourself a seat, otherwise do a proper tour that will cater for your needs, especially if you have mobility issues.

Good way to see the city in a short time. I just did the loop which takes 90 minutes. The bus driver was very good. Arrive early for the first couple of departures of the day.

I realised that the cruise ship would dock very close to the city so I decided to just see Hobart by way of the Hop On Hop Off Bus. There was a ticket booth at the end of the pier as we disembarked and I got a ticket for the second bus of the day at 9.30am. The weather was forecast to be very warm later so I was happy to go earlier. Definitely get to the departure point well in advance of the scheduled departure time as it was very busy 25 minutes before the bus was scheduled to depart (maybe different for later departures). The driver was very good and helpful as people got off. The commentary was ok and it was a good way to see a bit of the City in an hour and a half. Worth doing.

The trip was ok to get an overview of Hobart.View was good from the upper deck but it took way too long to get around. There were many long stops very close together with people getting on ... so it lacked momentum and was rather boring at times. Commentary was pretty average.

We decided to forego a cruise line excursion in favor of doing Hobart on our own. We chose the HoHo bus and we're very satisfied. This is a great value way to see the city whilst saving some money! Using the savings to treat yourself to lunch at the beautiful botanical garden!!

Arrived in Hobart around 11.15, made our way to the hotel to drop off our luggage and decided we would take a look around Hobart city. We found our way to the information centre and were guided to the On off Bus. It was a 90min round trip. We enjoyed the tour and our driver Tony was efficient and in between the recorded Commentary he told us a little more history and even some jokes. Highly recommend doing this to get your bareings.

Wonderful experience. We had a ride around Hobart, then dropped at the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Garden to enjoy the beauty and glamour of the garden. We hopped back after 2 hours of stay at the garden and completed the tour at the information centre on corner of Elizabeth & Davey Streets.

I booked this service for a family of six during our single port day in Hobart, Tasmania while cruising on the Disney Wonder. We booked an 11am start time. We arrived at the start location prior to the start time and could not get a bus until 12pm due to the number of tickets sold for this service. Both the Disney Wonder and Virgin Australia cruise ship were docked in Hobart on this day. We were late for our booking at Cascade Brewery and as a result had a shorter time at this experience. When we attempted to get back on a bus after our stop at Cascade Brewery, the next two services were full. After waiting a while at the bus stop (in the elements with no shelter), I called Red Decker and a representative informed me that they were sending an empty bus, but it would be another 40 minute wait. As we no longer had the time to finish the tour we paid for, we caught a maxi taxi back to the port with other travellers who were in a similar position. Very disappointing service, Red Decker clearly did not have the resources to service the number of ticket holders they allowed to book on this date. Upon contemplating requesting a refund as the service we paid for was unable to be provided, I noticed in the terms and conditions that there are no guarantees as to availability of a seat on any service. I regret not simply hiring a vehicle for the day given the loss of opportunity to see Hobart and surrounds that we suffered as a result of the poor practices of Red Decker.

Hello Kellie L, Thank you for your feedback. We are disappointed that this was your experience on your recent tour. I apologise for this. Agreed the day you traveled 26th December was a very busy day on our bus service. I can understand your frustration. We welcome and are excited that Hobart has been included as a stop in the Disney and Virgin Ships maiden voyages in Australia. In the behind the scenes our bus service operationally has slightly different procedures depending on the ship. Its a very streamlined process in the background. Due to the newness of these ship visits, we put into place initial scheduling and to be expected adustments need and have been made. I take responsibility for this. I apologise again for any inconvenience caused. Other factors contributing to more than expected people accessing our service was that on the 26th December there were 2 ships in port. This is rare. Also the day was public holiday and a key holiday season holiday and some sites and attractions and businesses were closed. Although our prebookings were low, high last minute bookings were much higher than normal. Despite it being the holiday season feel reassured that we did have all our available deckers and staff rostered on that day. We offer full tour refunds if our tours don't meet expectations. Please reach out to us and we would be more than happy to arrange this for you. If you would like to discuss your concerns further then please reach out to us. I am sure if you visit Hobart again and use our service your experience on our tours would be a positive one. Many thanks for the time you have taken to write your review. Kind regards.
