- Juliea19280 contributionsBack in the dayI love Battery Point and it's old beautiful homes which take you back to days long gone.Delightful historic homes which are lovenly looked after with roses a plenty in the mostly tiny gardens. Some of the bigger homes have the most amazing views .Written February 21, 2024

- gpjrm0 contributionsExcellent Walk Battery PointWe enjoyed walking through Historic Battery Point. The houses were amazing making History come alive. Many had plaques on them giving you history of the house. We had a delicious morning tea at Jackman & McRoss Bakery , including coffee and a wonderful Scallop pie. We visited historic Narryna House (Merchants House). This was beautifully preserved. Spend a few hours walking through Battery Point. Brings Hobart's history to life- Highly recommended.Written September 18, 2023
- JosephineA1940 contributionsAmazingAmazingly informative walking tour with Deb yesterday. Her passion was infectious and her knowledge comprehensive. It was a highlight of our time in Hobart. Highly recommend to all.Written September 13, 2023
- HNL2SFO0 contributionsTake a walk among historic homesWe were pleasantly surprised that our hotel, Lenna (which is really nice!), is located at Battery Point. The neighborhood is very cute, with old houses built around the 1840s all very well cared for. There are cafes, restaurants and shops mixed in among the houses. We felt very safe. Take a walk and enjoy the sights as we did… you’ll be happy you did!Written August 18, 2023

- ntaylr10 contributionsWhat a Great History WalkA walk through this area allowed appreciation of wonderful houses that have been beautifully maintained and allowed the ability to see the 1800’s date on each of the entry ways. Whilst some are retained as houses, some are now quaint shops. Hotels and a church on the border of a fabulous park overlooking the Derwent River provides a wonderful backdrop for a delightful stroll. Accessed by Kelly’s Steps in Salamanca Place. A great walk to enjoy on a sunny day.Written May 25, 2022
- Lucinda A0 contributionsHighly recommended walking tour experienceMy husband, two adults kids and I spent 2 hours with our guide Debbie on the Historic Battery Point tour yesterday. It was absolutely great. Its the most beautiful area with incredible history and Debbie knew everything that anyone would need to know to bring this history to life for us. It made a huge difference to our exploration of the area. She was waiting for us at the meeting point and did not rush us through any part of the tour. A delightful, educated and interested person and a great storyteller. This is clearly a very professional and experienced tour operation. Highly recommended and very reasonably priced.Written April 18, 2022

We enjoyed spending 2 hours with Lisa on the tour around old Hobart. Very informative and friendly. Lisa knew her stuff as she was able to answer various questions along the way. It covers the time since European settlement and highlights buildings, events and several interesting characters. She gave directions for further wandering which we did. Recommended.

This was a very informative and enjoyable tour of Hobart taken on a Saturday morning. Lisa was extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about Hobart and its history. The tour ended at the Salamanca market. Many highlights - but of great interest was the collection behind the newly built Supreme Court. I would highly recommend this walking tour and will definitely be booking some of the other tours offered by Hobart Walking Tours.

We met our guide outside the Henry Jones Art Hotel, a former jam factory, by the waterside in Hobart. Over the next two hours as we slowly meandered from the harbour into the old part of town and parks we learnt so much of Hobart's past from convicts and prisoners to city benefactors. A thoroughly pleasant way to spend an afternoon with a friendly and knowledgeable guide.

I am so happy that I booked 2 tours with Hobart walking tours. The first was a morning tour “
Hobart History, People & Places - Hobart History” and the second was an evening tour “
Hobart's Dark Past”. Both tours were excellent. Lisa was an awesome tour guide. She showed us around Hobart center and pointed out facts and fiction about history of Hobart. Her voice is clear, she has a wealth of knowledge, and many interesting stories to tell. She is a wonderful storyteller and is a very friendly and lovely young woman. I learned a lot and had a great time. Highly recommended!

Are you walking distance from the port where we will come in from a cruise ship? If not, any idea how much a an Uber will run for six people? We'll come in to port on November 13 from 8 am to 11 pm. We might also interested in Bruny Island since we're there for a long day. I don't know if your company books other tours besides the walking tour but do you have other suggestions?

Hello, Highly recommend the ‘Gallows Tour’ with Hobart Walking Tours. $38 per person and the excellent guide made it longer to suit our group. Contact Lisa directly and ask her if she can do this tour on your date. We also did Hobart Historic Tours 3-hr “Grand Hobart Walk” $50 p/p which was a good broad introduction to Hobart. Operates Fri, 3 hours went really quickly & well worth it.

Hi there, I am booked on the Friday night tour and will be staying in Sandy Bay.
I have just realised that I will be by myself at 11pm after the tour. Not sure if I should drive to meeting point and then have to walk back there to car or leave the car at finish point and walk across to start ? any suggestions ??
Written April 18, 2018
Give a quick call to the tour operator as the guide will have some suggestions on where best to park & may even be walking the same way
