Better than expected and the only way to see Maria Island is by boat. The geology was a bonus and spectacular. Thankyou
We will be back in October to hopefully see the Whales and caves. Thanks Mice and team for a great day, breaky, morning tea and lunch. Can’t fault this cruise/buisness. BobKat

      Highly recommend
Because of the poor weather condition, the crew members can't sure how far we can able to reach and see, the crew members has very patient and polite to explain to everyone one by one and give us to choose decide still going or not with fully refund. (Although I joined on last minute before one day before the tour and I am the only one need to take the shuttle bus from Hobart, which I felt very respectful and appreciated) We still able to see many sea seals, had a comfortable weather while we having a walk on Maria island with tour guide, and many wild animals including wombats. Food was very delicious by local cafe with drinks and ICE CREAM and beer !! I had a wonderful time on board with excellent crew and staff, and highly recommend to my friend. Thank you very much for having me =)

      Surprise
My Maria Island cruise was a truly delightful experience on 12 February. I am very grateful to the captain and his colleagues, who were incredibly enthusiastic and responsible. The captain even remembered my name and chatted with me, making me feel very warm. Their dedication and hard work are commendable. Thank you all! Their professionalism and attention to detail made the trip unforgettable. I truly appreciate their kindness and effort in making everything perfect. It was a pleasure to be part of such a wonderful journey!

      Enjoyable day cruise
We did a modified tour due to poor weather and didn't make it to Ile De Phoques - however we still had a great time. Mike & Hugh really went out of their way to make sure everyone was comfortable and happy with the revised itinerary. We saw seals, a pair of sea eagles & other bird life in the bay. There was plenty of time for photos. A delicious lunch was served in a beautiful calm bay with a glass of Tassie wine. The tour with Hugh on Maria was informative & well paced. A wonderful way to spend the day.

Our skipper, Michael, was excellent, on what was a very challenging day, weather wise. He managed to coordinate the trip to make the most of the changing conditions. It proved to be a most interesting and enjoyable experience.

Dolphins, seals, wombats and even a Devil. Amazing
We had our best tour on our vacation in Australia. We went into amazing sea caves, interacted with Dolphins and Seals on the boat. Then saw wombats, small wallabies, bandicoots, and even a Devil on the Island. The staff was amazing. The food was good. A great day with pickup in a convenient spot in Hobart.

      Awesome Experience
This full day trip included a sensitive viewing of a great seal colony in good weather conditions that allowed our skill full skipper to take us into amazing sea caves. Bonus enjoyed was a pod of about 20 dolphins playing alongside the boat. Lunch is included and of a good quality. After lunch 2 hours on Maria is time to explore the historic ruins. A great day.

The best experience in Tasmania - just fabulous
We were so lucky and had the most beautiful and calm day. We could go to the Ile des Phoques and this is the highlight. We could spend an hour watching the seals and had plenty of time to take photos and films. We were able to get into the caves right to the end - spectacular. Mike told us such interesting stories and he is such an incredible boatsman. On the island you also see lots of birds: Cormorants. We were lucky and saw some common dolphins as well. The food and drinks were very good and we were very well looked after. We saw some Wombats on Maria Island and Liv (Olivia) told us lots of interesting things. An absolute must. I don't know what the tour is like when you cannot go to Ile des Phoques, so look at the weather report before booking to make sure the trip can go there. If you can and the weather is good, I would recommend to sit on the roof.

      Fabulous
Absolutely fabulous day, from the minute we boarded the Spirit, captain and crew (Steve and Tam) were amazing - knew everyone’s names, provided excellent information, catered to our every need! Food and drinks were delicious and the scenery was amazing. Seals were out in force and happy to pose for photos, the caves were beautiful, and our walk on the island was wonderful. Wombats were plentiful, and one of our group even spotted a Tassie Devil ( and took a photo for proof!) Highlight of our 3 months in Tassie. Highly recommend!

Breathtakingly beautiful! What a wonderful adventure! A day we will remember forever!! 🦭
This tour is an absolute must for anyone travelling to Tasmania! Michael’s passion for the preservation of this magnificent wonderland and his respect for it’s animal occupants is evident. The whole day was superb. Ile des Phoques is breathtaking! Witnessing the thriving seal colony was magic and exploring the limestone and granite caves sublime! Maria island with her sparkling, turquoise water and white sandy beach was a welcome spot for a swim before immersing ourselves in the beauty filled landscape. The fluffy wombats were adorable! Such a memorable day we will cherish forever!

      Maria Island cruise...a wonderful experience
The trip to Maria Island was exceptional and exceeded our expectations. We saw so many animals including seals, porpoise, wallabies and wombats. The beach at Maria Island is picture perfect and it was warm enough to swim. The lunch served was simple but perfect. Morning tea was delicious with every person receiving their own box of treats. It was a wonderful day.

With a poor weather forecast on the day of our trip, we were unsure what would happen. With huge thanks to the Skipper, Michael, who modified the itinerary - reading the wind and the swell - and we got to see 80% of this magical island. Morning tea and lunch were delicious and served in 2 beautiful sheltered spots.
Hugh gave us a great insight into Maria Island on the guided walk of the settlement, and we did spot a few wombats hiding from the imminent storm. Back on the boat for our exhilarating return to the Mainland as the thunder and lightning hit. Again, this is a huge thank you to Michael for his professionalism, his great communication, his expertise and a wonderful day trip. Offering the free transfer from and to Hobart was an great addition and thank you to Olivia for the safe journey and for holding the umbrellas as we came off the bus! Definitely recommend you add Maria Island to your Tassie holiday.

The Maria Island Cruise was the absolute highlight of our recent trip to Tasmania. The team of Rachel and Steve were absolutely superb and showed a real passion for their job. Steve's commentary was superb and he steered the boat into many interesting locations and took his time to make sure everyone got a great view. There certainly was enough sights to keep everyone interested. Rachel was superb in her dedication to her job. this included checking on the passengers when the seas got a little rough, dealing with sympathy with those who got seasick and then providing an interesting commentary as she guided the group on Maria Island.
The trip included a lovely morning tea and a superb lunch as well as drinks as requested.
Overall, a wonderful day out and this trip is highly recommended-book it.

Michael, Millie and Rachael are true professionals, who will go to great lengths to ensure every little thing is perfect (except the weather, which they handled professionally and with a smile). This tour seems costly, but a lot goes in to it, and we felt very privileged to be able to see the beautiful island from the perspective that only a boat can give; so it is absolutely worth it. Spectacular and untouched coastal scenery, but you still get to see the convict ruins with an informative commentary when stopping off at Darlington for a couple of hours. Wombats a plenty, as were the seals on the rocks and playing in the water; a pure delight. Just book it and go; you won’t regret it.

What a wonderful day out. If you're looking to experience the East Coast of Tasmania, there's really no better way of doing it than this trip. This is a small family run business who share their genuine Tassie hospitality with visitors. Angela, Steve and Mike really have curated a wonderful experience.

Not only do you get to see the marine life like dolphins, seals etc. on the cruise portion the trip but you really get to take in the geology of Maria Island and Ile de Phoques. I don't know how Mike and Steve did it but they managed to turn a 40 foot boat around in small caves.

The caves were certainly a highlight for us. We did get lucky with the tides, waves and wind which allowed for smooth navigation in and out of these tight spaces. Inside the caves you could see everything not only on the rock walls but through the crystal clear water.

Nothing felt rushed, and we were really able to immerse ourselves into the experience. It's quite a long time you're on the water but for us this was a big positive and made the experience. There was no check boxes, just enjoying nature in a respectful way.

Talking to both Steve and Mike was very interesting and informative. We enjoyed a healthy salad bowl lunch at Maria where again crystal clear waters allowed us to see sting rays and fish around stunning cliffs.

We got on the cruise at 9am and hopped off at Maria Island just before 2pm. We had over 2 hours to walk around guided or be on our own. The two of us did a combo of the above and just took a post lunch snooze in the grass.

We got back on the boat just before 4 and had the Painted Cliffs all to ourselves. What a fantastic way to end the day.

We also took advantage of their shuttle bus from Hobart to Triabunna which meant a snooze on the way back home.

This trip is really about the people who make the experience and I'd highly recommend it if you're based on Hobart or if you're making your way up or down the East Coast of Tasmania!!

The circumnavigation was curtailed due to weather, but it was still a spectacular and entertaining day. Michael, Rachael, and Zoe did their utmost to make every guest feel personally attended to.

The stories and information each imparted gave context; the water, cliffs, and wildlife all gave their very best.

Triabunna is an excellent locale, enhanced by such a great experience.

We had a wonderful time on the Maria Island cruise. Weather was perfect and Michael and Rachel were great hosts. Michael drove the boat and gave very informative details of the island and the different points of interest. Rachel looked after everyone and couldn’t have been more patient and kind to everyone on board. There was so much to see and we took many photos. A highlight was seeing a wombat as soon as we arrived off the boat at Darlington. We would thoroughly recommend this cruise, it was a highlight of our trip to Tasmania.

This cruise and walk is not to be missed when in Hobart. I chose the Circumnavigation of the Island tour after careful thought because I wanted to see it all! I was picked up outside my hotel by Tamara who was the only crew on the boat besides Michael our captain and owner of the company. Tamara was also the leader of our walk. She and Michael couldn't do enough to make our day a success and such effort was the big difference between the Bruny Island cruise and bus trip and Maria Island cruise and walk.
Michael described the unique history, both human and geological, of the island taking the boat up close to some of the most interesting features of the island, including inside a sea cave, explaining the reasons why Maria Island is world heritage listed and famous for its geological formations. It was mind blowing what we were shown and his explanations were thorough and easy to understand. He took the boat quietly near a fur seal haul out, describing the two different species that were sharing this rocky home, explaining that he was being so careful not to frighten the seals as he hoped they'd become accustomed to being visited by boats and establish a breeding colony there where they felt safe. its off to a good start as none of the seals jumped into the sea when we arrived.
The walk took us through the remaining convict and industrial buildings of the settlement, Darlington. We met curious wombats, Cape Barren geese and a wallaby all living among the buildings. We started our return trip to Hobart but Michael saw whales in the other direction and asked the passengers if they were OK with being a bit late getting back so that we could go to see the whales. No one objected so he took us to the area where three whales were breaching, blowing and slapping the water with pectoral fins and flukes, a breathtaking experience. Nothing was too much trouble for Michael and Tamara so long as he could make our day a little bit more memorable.
The morning tea and lunch were delicious and well presented. Soft drinks, water, tea and coffee were available throughout the day as well as wine with lunch.

What an amazing trip. We got the courtesy bus from Hobart which was so convenient, then joined the tour in Triabunna. Check was as really easy and efficient, then after a short walk to the ferry we met Mike and set set sail.

Mike is very much a perfectionist and is extremely knowledgeable. Nothing is an issue and he will do everything possible to make it a memorable and pleasurable trip.

Our tour guide and bus driver for the day was Tamsin. She was just amazing!! We were so looked after on the boat with drinks and lunch which was delicious, then she took us on a very informative leisurely stroll of Darlington and the historical buildings. She kept us entertained and led us back to the boat for the trip home.

The bus trip back to Hobart took about 1hr20. I was tired after a big day, and I can only imagine Tamsin would be tired too, but she kept us entertained and hit us back safely in Hobart around 6.30pm.

A great day that I can highly recommend. Thank you so much Mike and Tamsin.

We cruised around Maria Island on a two deck boat, top deck has better views but it's really cold so make sure to wear warm clothes! You can borrow a jacket from them but better to be well prepared beforehand. Maybe pack a beanie and some warm gloves too.

Some interesting rock formations around the island. We saw dolphins and seals, definitely the highlight of our trip! Our guide spotted a whale on our way back and the captain went out of his way to try to get close but unfortunately we weren't able to see anything, wasn't their fault but we appreciate that they went above and beyond to try to give us a better experience.

They offer tea, coffee, wine and soft drinks. We ordered two vegan salads for lunch and it was pretty good.

After lunch we went for a walk on the island for about two hours, the weather was lovely and the walk was very chill and slow paced, you can follow the group or explore on your own. Apart from convict buildings there were wombats, kangaroos chickens and some interesting looking geese (reminded me of peacocks).

We had the most amazing day on the Maria Island cruise from the time we boarded until we got off in the afternoon. We visited an amazing sea colony. We than visited 3 caves Steve did an amazing job of manouvering the boat in and out of the caves they were stunning such a great experience. On the way to the island we had a huge pod of bottle nose dolphins follow the boat. Once we arrived on the island we were given a guided tour of Darlington with Millie who was great and very knowledgeable she also spotted wombats for us. Thankyou Steve and Millie the whole day was sensational !!
