What to expect
Your day trip from Hobart starts with the approximate 1.5-hour drive by coach to the Tasman Peninsula, during which your guide will point out sights and provide commentary. Stop for morning tea, and then embark on your 3-hour cruise, taking in the stunning coastline of Tasman National Park. Stare up at some of Australia’s tallest sea cliffs, enter deep sea caves, spot the lighthouse that guards Storm Bay, and keep your eyes open for seals and dolphins. With the boat’s covered open-air seating, you’ll have great viewing opportunities of the sea and shore. When you return to land, enjoy lunch before spending the afternoon on a tour with your guide to peninsula attractions such as Remarkable Cave, the Federation Chocolate Factory and Port Arthur lavender Farm (alternatively, upgrade your ticket to include either the Tasmanian Devil Conservation Park or Port Arthur Historic Site instead). Your day trip ends with the drive back to Hobart. Upgrade Sightseeing Options You can’t see everything in one day, but you can try! Customize the sightseeing to suit you. Instead of visiting local attractions like Remarkable Cave, Federation Chocolate Factory and Port Arthur lavender Farm you can choose one of these upgrade options: Tasmanian Devil Conservation Park: Get an up-close look at these iconic Australian animals at this wildlife center that features a free-flight bird show and a chance to watch feeding time for the Tasmanian devils. Port Arthur Historic Site: This former penal colony, part of the Australian Convict Sites UNESCO World Heritage site, is home to several old structures and ruins that were once home to prisoners, officers and guards. You have three hours to spend here learning about Australia’s penal history amid the landscaped grounds.

Fantastic day trip
We had a fabulous day on the Tasman Island cruise and Port Arthur Historic Site with Pennicott Wilderness Journeys
Coach trip from Hobart with our guide Phil was wonderful. Phil was full of knowledge and such an asset to the company. He looked after us every step of the way.
After an early start we stopped at Port Arthur for a welcome coffee and muffin before we were driven to the cruise departure point.
The scenery was spectacular, as were the close up encounters with seals and humpback and southern right whales. 3 hours flew by and was so much fun. The full length waterproof gowns were very welcome in the wind and cold. The commentary by the on board guides was really informative..they really knew their stuff.
We then travelled to Port Arthur historic site where we were treated to lunch of soup and rolls before we picked up a walking tour which gave us a great overview of the history of Port Arthur. The buildings were so rich in history with top quality displays.
We were sorry when our amazing day came to a close and Phil dropped us back very near to our accommodation.
Would recommend this day trip in a heartbeat to anyone visiting Hobart, and any locals who are yet to discover this top class tour company.
Thanks again to Phil for looking after us so well!

Drama at its best
Jan 2020
I wanted to see the area where the Sydney Hobart Yacht race rounds the Island and you see those amazing photos of boats in the foreground of "Tubelike" cliff faces. This tour provided that and so much more. They were a very professional operation and we felt safe at all times. We saw whales, seals and a pod of Dolphins swam along side our boat for 15mins or longer. The wild life was spectacular but the scenery was awesome. We went right up to the cliff faces or went into the cave like inlets. The colours of the water and cliffs were magical. We also saw the "Candle" which was a straight upright rock reaching hig into the sky. We were very fortunate to see 2 climbers scaling it while we watched. The secery was very dramatic and the boat was very safe. They provided us with ponchos but other warm clothing is needed as once the bot gets going at 25mph it can get very cold. This tour was well worth the money. We were also provided with a gorious morning tea of scones , cream and jam or a savory option. Lunch was a restaurant meal with several things to choose from. Our other activities were also well worth the visit and ythe bus driver was very interesting with his commentary. I strongly reccommend Pennicotts tours. Forget the cost embrass the opportunity as it is worth ever penny.

Amazing rock formations and sea animals
Dec 2019
This was a 10-hour tour. When we arrived, the road to the reception was closed to commercial traffic, but we were early, before 7:00 am, and there was plenty of parking at that hour and it was free. No public toilets and the restaurants don't want you using theirs. We'll organized, on time. The tour went from about 7:30 am until 6:15 pm. Phil was a great guide. We started with a bus tour, which was narrated by Phil. We stopped at Port Arthur Lavender farm for breakfast. Great scones with a great view. We went on an ocean tour for about two hours. A toilet on board but tell the operator so he can stop the boat so you don't fall off of the seat. Amazing rock formations. The boat gets up close for good pix. We saw a Humpback whale, dolphins, and many seals. Riders are given sturdy full-size wind breakers for the duration of the trip. It was windy and cold. At times the ride was rough due to ocean swells. The operators were friendly and informative. Safety procedures are reviewed. Ginger is offered at the beginning to help ward off seasickness. Water and cookies were offered later. Upon return, public toilets were locked, and I had to sneak into a restaurant, with others, to use theirs. For lunch we went to On the Bay, formerly Gabrielle's. Excellent food, in an out-of-the-way location with a great view. After lunch at On the Bay, which was included, we went to the Unzoo, which was an additional charge, and planned ahead. We saw Tasmanian Devils, kangaroos, and birds. The 'roos were loose and we could pet them until they hopped away. Daylight for the whole trip. We had a great time seeing and interacting with the animals that we saw. All the food was quite good. A nicely varied tour. Friendly staff. Just so you're aware, if you get off the bus and return, the seat which you had occupied may be taken. Contrary to logic, "There are no assigned seats." Someone was in my seat and their spouse in my son's. They refused to move, so we had to sit elsewhere, and those prior occupants were upset and told the people who took our seats to return to their original ones. The son did, the mother didn't and her husband took the son's spot next to her. The husband then noticed that a bag he had placed somewhere had apparently been compromised in some way, so he blamed it on the guy who has told his wife and son to return to their original seats. A verbal fight broke out, things got ugly, and Phil had to step in and take charge. Very unnecessary if people would simply return to the seats which they had begun with.

A great adventure - wear warm clothes
Oct 2019
We did the full day cruise and sightseeing. Our guides Michael and Ange were amazing, so knowledgeable and very service orientated. Ange is a wildlife rescuer and went to check on an injured White Bellied Sea Eagle and was returning later to pick it up after dropping us off. We were so lucky to have such a knowledgeable yet humble person to guide us. Our boat driver Andrew was excellent, we felt safe at all times, even though we were in the Great Southern Ocean. This is a very professional company. You will need warm clothes and you may get wet, even though a spray poncho is provided, it is not for the faint hearted, but I guarantee you will enjoy it. We saw Albatross, other sea birds, dolphins up close and seals at a reasonable distance. Unfortunately we did not see any whales. A great experience.

I thoroughly enjoyed all three tours exploring Tassie's islands and southern Tasmania. We were exposed to weather while being well protected from it. Commentary was professional - not overdone, it gave me a taste of Tasmanian history and resilience.

A sightseeing adventure highlight
Mar 2019 • Friends
We went on a day trip to Tasman Peninsula and Port Arthur beginning with the bus from Franklin Wharf in Hobart. I was looking forward to the 3 hr cruise alongside the Tasman Peninsula towards Tasman Island. The scenery exceeded my expectations, the seascapes were awe inspiring. The birdlife and animals wonderful to see. Our heritage and history on display at Port Arthur was so informative and lunch there was great. So grateful we took our warmest jackets! This trip was one of the highlights of our Tasmania holiday.

Great way to spend a day
May 2019 • Couples
My partner shouted me this tour for my Birthday. We had a fabulous time. I originally thought it was a bit expensive however by the end of the day i was very happy that we went. All the staff were excellent however Bel and Mal in particular kept us both amused and informed. All staff went out of their way to make the day a great experience. The lunch was much better than i had anticipated and the staff catered for my partners gluten allergy (which was great). It was also a really nice surprise at the end of the day when the bus dropped everyone off as close as was practical to their accomodation. I also had stupidly left my sunglasses in a jacket i had borrowed. They found them and returned them to me. One thing to note, it can be very cold on the water so go well rugged up and borrow some of there coats.

A must do if you go to south Tasmania
Nov 2018
The experience was terrific!
Starting with our guide-driver, Phill, who made the trip fun and really informational.
He is very organized and everything was really smooth.
Things were even better in the sea cruise. Sorry I didn't catch the names of the guides (they did introduce themselves :)) The 40-seat boat was very agile and we could even enter some of the caves.
We had a wonderfull weather and flat sea, and were able to see penguins, seals, dolphins, and albatros.
And.. what looked like the tail of a whale. And INCREDIBLE cliffs. Pictures might ve awsome, but they can't capture the real thing.
I took the option to visit Port Arthur historical site. It is an ineresting place full of history and architecture, but it didn't really get to me. I guess just the cruise made my day.
Pick up and return were on time, a "normal" lunch was included, and the experience will remain in my memory for a really long time. Fully recommendable!

WOW Incredible trip

We did the 3 hr cruise from Port Arthur around Tasman Island & peninsula. This cruise was our highlight of an amazing trip to Tasmania. The jet boats are sensational, they have amazing agility & are able to access tight crevices, canyons & cave areas. Our driver was brilliant, you felt very safe & his knowledge / commentary was first rate. The scenery is incredible, the cliffs combined with the wildlife & ocean create a memorable experience. Do not travel to Tassie without trying to go on this cruise, you will not regret it !
