      A great harbour tour
Small tour group in a front & sided enclosed boat. Drinks provided - great bonus. Got to see the shore line and communities from Hobart harbour. Then saw couple of islands and the lighthouse. The boat driver - Earl - was super great. Informative with a great personality.

Short boat tour along the River Derwent to the Iron Pot Lighthouse
We decided to join the Iron Pot Tour at short notice after seeing the board outside their office at the harbour. The relatively short duration suited us perfectly, and we looked forward to seeing Hobart from the water. The boat is quite small, and even with only a little swell the ride was quite bumpy at times. One passenger had obviously expected a more sedate journey. Our skipper and guide was very knowledgeable and pointed out various interesting architectural and natural sights, and - very timely as it was just a few days before her coronation - the school Queen Mary of Denmark (then Mary Donaldson) attended. Following the River Derwent south towards the northern tip of Bruny Island, and on towards Betsey Island, and the Iron Pot. Along the way we learned more about the area's history. Overall I thought it was a very interesting and informative tour, helpful and knowledgeable staff, and a good time out on the water.

      Relaxing
I was travelling with my sister and parents (78 and 82), my mum has some mobility issues but managed to get on and off the boat with very little assistance. This is a very relaxing tour. A Tasmanian, Robert is a great host and story teller (threw in a couple of dad jokes for free!) and we saw some historical and spectacular sites during the 2.5 hours aboard. The wild life spotted included seals sunning themselves and a variety of birds. Part of the ticket cost goes towards various conservation projects. I recommend this tour.

      Absolutely fantastic!
Went out with Tomas on this 2 1/2 hour tour. Was absolutely fantastic. Informative and entertaining commentary. Tomas was happy to answer any questions we had. Showed as parts of the river and caves we probably wouldn't have visited with other cruises.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Iron Pot cruise. The boat was comfortable and completely sheltered and the captain engaging and entertaining. This is a fantastic way to get a new perspective on Hobart.

A great way to learn more about Hobart and the surrounding waterways. A brilliant afternoon with Kate, who was professional, informative, and fun as well. Definitely a highlight of our trip so far. I would definitely recommend this tour and Kate in particular.

      Iron Pot Cruise
Brilliant and informative trip this arvo with Toby who clearly has a great love for the sea. Well it was magnificent. Up close and personal to my faves The Iron Pot Betsy Island and Black Jack Rocks!! Soaring 🦅 eagle clutching his prey flew close to us on Betsy Island and the cormorants were like well shags on a rock 😂. Boat handled extremely well and the sea surged.

      Fantastic afternoon on the water.
What a great trip this was and Hamish our skipper was very friendly and knowledgeable and made our trip really interesting giving informative narration on the local landmarks and history of the areas around the Derwent River including the Iron Pot Lighthouse. When he informed us of the amount of whales being seen around off the coast of Hobart and the South east we went straight in to the office when we disembarked and booked the Tasman Island cruise for the next day. (Funnily enough Hamish was also on the crew for the next trip!) We saw many whales feeding on the Krill in the area and there were photo opportunities everywhere including the Totem Pole and Tasman Arch. Both cruises were amazing and we will be booking in to do the Bruny Island trip when we are next in Hobart.

      Beautiful day on the Derwent
We spent a fantastic 2 1/2 hour cruise on the Derwent River, it was a perfect day blue sky and calm sea. It was a fascinating cruise and the guides were extremely knowledgable and great fun. The boat was very comfortable and clean and seaworthy. It was a very informative cruise with excellent commentary on geology, history and interesting bits and pieces of the area. Highly recommend this trip to anyone visiting Hobart - 10 out of 10

      Pennicott creatures & Features
I took the 2 1/2 hour trip down the Derwent today with Tim the skipper and several other passengers. My Well I from was clearly visible I the blue sky and the river was like glass. A seal farewelled us from the jetty as the boat ripped up along the picturesque coastline of Hobart slowing to look at features and creatures. Passed Bruny Island and iron pot lighthouse before returning to dock. Fabulous trip, great commentary and a relaxed friendly vibe. If do this again, or one of Pennicotts other tours.

      Great trip
We booked this cruise as a way of seeing the Derwent but it went far beyond our expectations. Hamish, our skipper and guide, set a friendly informative tone from the start and provided excellent commentary on geology, history and interesting trivia. We got to see Nigel the lonesome fur seal and came up close and personal to a pod of dolphins. The pace varied from quiet pottering close to the shoreline to speedy runs to the next point of interest. Our trip lasted close to three hours in a very comfortable boat and was a great way to spend the afternoon. Highly recommended to anyone of any age.

We booked this cruise a month in advance but when we knew that the weather was going to get rough that day, we were allowed to bring our cruise forward.

We have now completed all Pennicott cruises - Bruny, Tasman, Freycinet and now, Iron Pot. This particular cruise leaves directly from their base in Hobart in enclosed boats with large, comfortable seats. As usual, the skipper is knowledgeable, informative and funny. It is always a pleasure to get up close to wildlife such as seals and dolphins, and witness the raw beauty of the ocean. The beauty of Iron Pot itself bathed in the late afternoon sun was a sight to behold.

    Worth every cent.

Sam did a great job, both navigating the choppy waves, and commentating during the cruise.
We could not do the standard route due to the rough waves but filled in with lots of other interesting stuff. We were offered a refund as the standard tour could not be completed but no one chose that option.
    Overall entertaining and informative.

Our group of 4 did this trip 2pm 12th June on a 12-seater with a really great skipper who you could tell was really passionate about sharing everything she knew to the boatload.
We had the last of the Arctic blast weather to contend with so had to give Maria Island a miss but she took us to a more protected area instead to make up for it.
We went with the rolling water around Ironpot Lighthouse and it was pretty rough but such fun. Our skipper knew her boat and the ocean!
A really great trip even if the weather isn't perfect, thanks to the enclosed seating.
    Well worth it!

Our Iron Pot Cruise was so enjoyable, our skipper Sam was a lot of fun and did a great job on what was a windy and choppy day. He always ensured we were comfortable with the conditions and provided constant information about the sights and their history. The length of the trip was perfect for the afternoon. Drinks (water, juice & soft drink) were available. The ladies in the office were also very helpful and friendly.

We took the Iron Pot cruise last week, and had a great time. Our skipper Hamish was so engaging & knowledgeable, and was happy fielding questions from the guests. Being able to see the cliff faces up so close was amazing, as was the wildlife we were lucky enough to see (the sighting of 2 yellow beaked albatross was a rarity I believe). Would highly recommend this cruise.

We decided on the 2.5 hour iron pot cruise for our water adventure in Hobart. Big tick!

Checked in and met Ben, our skipper for the day. Nobody told us it was cruise and s show. Ben is quite the storyteller and raconteur. His ability to talk to people of all ages, tell great stories and make them laugh was second to none. He obviously loves his job and it shows.

The scenery was spectacular and thoroughly recommend this cruise to anyone who visits Hobart. Top notch - we will go again!

Great cruise, Tomas was our skipper and he was fantastic, very knowledgeable with a genuine desire to give you the best experience he can. We saw everything we could see and games a lot of information about the area that we we not have known otherwise. The boat is very comfortable and being enclosed quite protected from the elements - well done Tomas you do the company proud!!

What a great way to spend an afternoon. Our guide Kate was superb, providing informative, interesting and often funny commentary as she steered the boat across Storm Bay. Basically we followed the Hobart coastline then made a run out into the Ocean before heading back and circulating The Iron Pot. Kate had organised superb weather for us , too. The cruise depo has a well stocked souvenir and merino wool display. The boat had a full complement of 12 passengers.

This was a really interesting trip as we had an entirely different view of Hobart and surroundings as well as heading out to the Iron Pot Lighthouse.
We were very lucky with the weather as a storm was in the offing but the expected wind and rain didn't eventuate.
Our guide was great fun, with lots of information and just the right amount of humour and anecdotes. She was very careful to ensure we all boarded safely and offered ginger tablets to anyone worried abut seasickness. Safety was top priority.
The seating was comfortable and the boat was partially enclosed which made for a great experience.
The story of the lighthouse was very interesting.
Booking was easy at the office on the wharf, but you can also book online if preferred.

The whole trip was fantastic. It was a beautiful day. Skipper Luke was amazing. We explored the extraordinary cliffs south of Hobart, and were even able to touch 160+million year old dolerite formations as Luke skilfully manoeuvred the 'Little Penguin' into the entrance of incredible cave systems.
Luke's knowledge was inspiring. From how the dolerite and sandstone cliffs formed, to the marine fauna and flora, and the history of the area since colonisation.
The highlight had to be the largest pod of dolphins I have ever seen. They were feeding and we were spellbound as mums and babies swam in unison. We also saw flying fish, little penguins and myriad seabirds. No one wanted to go home.
I can't recommend this trip highly enough. Thank you all, especially Luke.
