- C5658COrobynh0 contributionsTasman Peninsula kayaking day tripMischa and Luke were excellent guides, they were welcoming and friendly, knowledgeable and encouraging. The briefings delivered by Luke and Mischa were informative and clear, as were the instructions on the water. The wildlife - seals and albatross and view of the dolomite cliffs were stunning. Their local knowledge was appreciated. Lunch was tasty, hearty and very generous, enjoyed in a friendly atmosphere giving everyone an opportunity to engage in conversation. I would definitely consider booking another kayaking adventure with Roaring 40's under the leadership of Mischa and Luke.Written February 10, 2025
- O6700ANleahs0 contributionsKayak Adventure - 7 days on Macquarie Harbour and Gordon RiverI've just returned from Roaring 40's 7-day kayak/camp expedition in Macquarie Harbour and up the Gordon River in SW Tasmania. It was a wonderful trip, fully immersed in this beautiful wilderness area. Our guides Ally and Mischa were organised, professional and knowledgeable. The kayaks and camping gear provided were good quality, and the food was tasty, fresh and plentiful. Pre-tour communication by Roaring 40's was also good. Highly recommend!Written January 25, 2025
- laylab6790 contributionsOverall an amazing adventure!Trip was rescheduled due to weather constraints, but quickly rebooked for the day after. Spectacular day!! We were geared up to be kept warm and dry the whole time. The guide was super enthusiastic, taught us all about the area and showed us through all the most impressive parts of the peninsula. He also went to great efforts to capture plenty of photos of us. You could really tell Roaring 40’s wanted us to have the best experience and walk away with great memories. The paddling itself was not too strenuous, but I was certainly sore the next day - an amazing adventure and would certainly go again!Written January 25, 2025
- offtrackjojo0 contributionsTrue wilderness.7 days Gordon River kayak expedition...sublime! This is the second expedition I've done with this outfit. They are top notch... professional, quality gear, great food. The pace was good with regular drift stops to listen to the forest. We had perfect weather, very lucky, saw dolphins, seals and a Tassie devil... And felt very moved to be where the blockade was fought over 40 years ago!!!Written January 24, 2025
- Trek115156606650 contributionsGreat tripBrilliant day trip out of Fortescue Bay, excellently guided by Damo a enthusiastic and very knowledgeable guide. Good equipment and good food. My best sea kayaking trip and I've done many.Written January 17, 2025
- carmi20 contributionsnice bay and paddle but highlights are missing due to weatherdisappointed. due to weather conditions we couldn't paddle the usual route. no high cliffs, no seals, no caves. we paddled in the bay and ended up cutting it short and instead of going to the highlights of the tour just crossed over to the other side of the bay. The weather is what it is, but I just feel like I didn't get what I paid for, which is a lot for a full day of kayaking - ~$200 USD per person.Written January 12, 2025
- JaneBloggsTravel0 contributionsGreat day kayaking south from HobartRoaring 40s has been operating for years in Tasmania and their experience shows. The tour normally runs from south to north along the coast but the day we did it the weather meant a north to south run. The trip was easy to book and the company responded to emails when we confirmed that we’d join them at the put-in place at Taroona Beach rather than central Hobart. Alison, the guide was great and adapted the trip, checking in with us, as we headed south in some fairly high seas for commercial kayaking which flattened as the wind veered to the south. Her care and attention really helped. The tour took us to places that are otherwise hard to access with some impressive cliffs and caves as we headed south. After the tour finished we headed south by road to investigate some of the places that Alison had pointed out. And the supplied lunch was hearty and tasty. We’d definitely use Roaring 40s again and look forward to doing another trip with them on our next trip to Tasmania.Written December 14, 2024
- C1127KNgarryg0 contributionsA great day of kayaking in a beautiful placeHighly recommend this trip as a kayak adventure for a day. Ali our guide was an excellent leader and very safety conscious. The lunch was great. The seals were showoffs.Written December 6, 2024

- lisasJ7006GB0 contributionsAwesome day out in a very special part of TassieAwesome day out in Fortescue Bay. Guide Tory has the perfect combination of enthusiasm, knowledge and the ability to make the trip special even though she's probably done it thousands of times. Super well organised, flexible and everything is done with the genuine best interests of everyone in mind. Highly recommend this trip to anyone who has ever gazed down from the top of a sea cliff and wanted to know what the seals see!Written November 27, 2024

- Madown0 contributionsWilderness Memories kayaking Bathurst Harbour to Port Davey, South West TasmaniaThis tour was fabulous for many reasons the beauty of the wilderness, the guides who made every effort to ensure our experience was the best it could be with weather conditions, the mountain climbs, the small group size, the food, seeing orange-bellied parrots, beautiful campsites and so much more. The information and communication was spot on. My original trip was postponed by a day and then canceled the next after flying down and being unable to land. Roaring 40s were so generous to our group considering the weather was out of their control, offering a free guided kayaking tour to Cape Hauy on the Tasman Peninsula and a full refund or the ability to rebook another trip. Exceptional.Written April 6, 2024
- N770COlisam0 contributionsStunning Fortesque Bay - day paddleExcellent paddling in Fortesque Bay with Roaring 40s. Guides Damian and Maron (sorry I’m not 100% sure of the spelling) were professional, attentive and friendly throughout the day to ensure we all had a good experience. Kayaks are suitable for the conditions and they also provided all the necessary safety gear as well as some outer layer clothing in case paddlers needed it. We have paddled with Roaring 40s on multi day trips previously and jumped at the chance to paddle this with the company again and in such a stunning part of the Tasman Penisula. Thanks again for a great day out on the water.Written April 3, 2024
- 505bengp0 contributionsMagical and highly recommendedFantastic and a memorable kayaking day. Damian our guide is friendly and Knowledgeable as he guides us through and also gave us tips on how to paddle better and took us between cliffs to do a 180degree turn Within five minutes of launching, a few dolphins were swimming around us .. The cliffs are magical Thank you for an awesome day Very gratefulWritten April 1, 2024
- Meander636486294120 contributionsFlinders is fabulousHave just had a spectacular time on the Flinders island trip with a group of friends. The island is a treasure of wild coastline, creatures and history. The paddling was wonderful but the walks and visit to the museum and Wybalenna were also memorable. Our guides Rob and Kevin were warm, knowledgeable, patient and very funny. I’d highly recommend the Flinders trip and Roaring 40’s in general, we’ll be back for more.Written March 30, 2024

My wife and I recently returned from the 8 day Sth West kayak trip. Our competent and friendly guides, Misha and Ali, ensured a safe, fun trip enhanced with healthy and comforting food and plunger coffee. We were impressed by the flexibility and range of daily activities and camping sites that optimised our experience given the changeable weather, including abundant fractostratus. Our guides leadership and thoughtfulness helped strong bonds to emerge with the other like-minded adventurers on the trip. This tour is first class value-for-money adventure. Rick and Wend

I did the week long Gordon River trip out of Strahan and can’t recommend it enough. I’m a sea kayak instructor and have paddled in Sweden, Croatia, Ningaloo, Shark Bay and Dirk Hartog Island and this trip matches and exceeds them. It is remote, magical and getting to paddle in the bottom of the Franklin was a highlight. Meals were fantastic and Tory and the crew from Roaring 40’s were great. Just do it!

Well organized 2,5 hour trip, started with a good introduction to the equipment and usage thereof. As soon as we were on the water, the group was kept together while some inetresting facts about the surroundings were passed. Inside the harbour we got a nice serving of fish and chips while staying in the kayak. All in all a very enjoyable trip

This is our third multi day trip with Roaring 40's and they just keep getting better and better. This time we were lucky enough to experience Macquarie harbour and paddle the wilderness of the Gordon river. Our guides Tori and Aaron worked so hard making this trip such an excellent experience, even with the weird and wonderful dietary requirements we lumbered them with. Looking forward to paddling with them again. Steve

The seven day Flinders Island kayaking trip was fabulous adventure. We explored stunning coves, beaches, islands, and granite rock headlands both on foot and in the sea. Our guides Tom and Rob struck an excellent balance of activity, relaxation, time for swimming and snorkelling and taking care of us by cooking delicious meals. Their expertise and local knowledge was invaluable. Highly recommend this trip for people who want to get off the beaten track but enjoy a little luxury.

Maddi was so professional and took great care to adjust her instruction to cater to the needs of my sister and her friend who are both blind. This paddle was just the right distance for novices and included fish and chips while sitting in the kayak in the sheltered dock in Hobart city. This was my second trip with Roaring 40s as I also did the day paddle to see the caves and beaches. Both experiences were just fantastic.

A wonderful experience for young kids and the older but young at heat with minimal experience. Personal and very professional guide. Stunning surrounds and unforgettable experiences on the water. We got to paddle through constitution dock viewing many of the Sydney to Hobart yachts. We saw boats under spinnaker up the Derwent and were on the finish line and in the docks for several finishes. Stunning and privileged way to view

This was a great morning paddling around the Hobart docks area. The guides were funny and very knowledgeable of the area and pointed out lots of hidden things that
could only be seen at water level that most tourists - and locals - would miss by only walking around area. We took our children 7 & 10yrs and I would highly recommend this for families and couples.

I have done 3 different multi day kayak trips with Roaring 40s. All of the trips have been wonderful. The professionalism of the guides and the organisation made me feel safe. The most recent trip to Tasman Peninsula was spectacular and I felt welcome and one of the team as a solo traveller. Special mention to my guides- Micha and Josh (SW) Tom and Kevin (Flinders) Tory and Mads (Tasman peninsula)

I noticed what looked like double and possibly some single kayaks. Are you in a double and the guides are in the kayak with you or are the guides in a separate one? As two of us are looking at booking so not sure if we would have 2 kayaks and in each of them ourselves with a guide or if we booked one and the two of u ould be in it and then the guide in a separate one. If you could confirm please?
