- sandygS8361CU00life changingWe both just got back from a 7 day kayak trip with Roaring 40's of the South West Wilderness. The trip was life changing. It is a magical place in Tasmania. Tim and Allie were great guides with excellent food, equipment and stable double kayaks. We have both experienced many types of holidays from 6 star to camping, but it would be difficult to find a better holiday than this experience. We were blessed with excellent weather and were able to explore some amazing places in the ocean. Sandy and Sara
- zachsF199HW00Great Tour!My wife and I took the tour with Damo and Francie Dec 2023. It was an amazing time getting to see the coast from a unique perspective. Our guides were amazing and gave us a good time. Definitely recommend you give this tour a try.
- Gg225500Had a great dayGreat Birthday present. Loved seeing the seals and lunch. I learnt a lot of new things about native animals and the area in general. Tim and Francie were great guides and made it fun.
- Flja00A stunning wilderness experienceWe did the 8-day Port Davey paddle from Melaleuca out to the sea and back. We both have bushwalked and rafted in SW Tasmania before, but this trip provides a very different and extremely enjoyable way of seeing and experiencing the SW wilderness. We had some beautiful warm days with blue skies and calm seas (fortunately including while crossing the open port) and some that were cold and windy with rougher waters. We expected this from past trips -- and you haven't truly experienced and can't properly understand SW Tassie, if you don't encounter bad weather. But we always felt we were in safe hands, the guides were experienced and always ahead of the weather, the gear was all good, the wilderness camps comfortable even while raining and the food excellent. We've paddled a lot in inland waters in single sea kayaks. By comparison, Roaring Forties' double kayaks are incredibly stable and just right for this trip. The only bit of advice is to make sure you take all the layers you think you'll need to keep warm, both wet and dry -- and don't leave any behind at Cambridge Airport if you're having trouble fitting it into the supplied dry bag.
- helenpV2376TG00Still dreaming of the Breaksea IslandsThis was such a great trip. Even four months later I still think back on the freedom and fun of a week away in World Heritage listed Tasmania by kayak. We camped, Tom was a great and knowledgable tour leader, Jonah was a great cook. Camping, kayaking. cavorting in the wilderness. With no internet or phone it felt like a month not a week.Wish I was out paddling those Breaksea Islands now!
- Madshus00Bathurst Harbour and Port DaveyOur family group of five participated in this 8 day trip. What can I say? - it was terrific! My 20+ year old young people - complete novices to paddling - got a taste of what it’s like to be paddling in remote wilderness under the expert guidance of our two guides Jonah and Josh. The guides adjusted the itinerary to cater for swell, wind and weather. The equipment was great! The food was tasty - they catered for my vegan son and pescatarian partner. Highly recommended!
- Michael H00Ever changing SW wildernessFabulous immersive trip to Tasmania’s SW wilderness. Well run and thought out itinerary with continental fine tuning as we went due to changing conditions. Guides where brilliant- Kev and Mad’s did a super job of at times herding cats (that would be us- there metaphorical clients:). There culinary skills not to shabby either with a seemingly endless supply of quality calories to partially offset our daily physical exploits. Was a privilege to be able to immerse myself into such a beautiful and relatively untouched remote part of the world. Clearly all of the above glued seamlessly together with the unseen back office. Would recommend to anyone with a sense of adventure and happy to get wet feet.
- TastyVego00Best way to see Flinders IslandWe were able to enjoy 5 days kayaking in different locations around the island, and see its superb scenery from the water. My 7th trip with Roaring 40s, and the guides have always been great - knowledgeable, helpful, good company and have looked after us so well. Our fellow kayakers have also all been lovely. Highly recommended for those seeking an active yet comfortable holiday.
- Murray19100Multi Day Tasmania Peninsula TourWe did the multi day trip based in beautiful accommodation right on the beach at Pirates Bay, Tory & Grace, safely guided us to see amazing sea caves & cliffs, seals, birds and stunning landscapes North & South of the peninsula and then also cooked amazing meals for us for the whole week. Great experience & paddling adventure, with time to relax with a wine on the deck looking at the ocean at the end of each day and planning the next days paddle. Tory & Grace’s knowledge, enthusiasm & paddling skills provided a very interesting and enjoyable holiday, well done Roaring 40s. Looking forward to our next trip with you guys.
- SHARE D00Great fun and physical challengeWe did the 4 day Tasman Peninsula kayak with Arron and Jonah. We had great weather and the guides gave us sufficient challenge to make it quite exciting( the best bit was paddling thru the gap between Cape Huay and the first Lantern). Food both on the trips and at the beautiful house we stayed in was yummy and it was nice not have to prepare it after a days kayaking. Spa at the house was a real treat.
- fionab35201600Fantastic trip in the wildernessAbsolutely wonderful 4 day trip into southwest Tasmania. Two wonderful guides- Jona and Grace. Blessed with the weather as well. Remote and wonderful wilderness explored in a way which had minimum impact on the environment. Saw quolls, Sea eagles 🦅 and a potaru although the wombats remained elusive! Well fed & comfy beds, great kayaks
- T2377AMguym004 Day Bathurst Harbour KayakingGreat place. Great camp. Great guides. Both worked super hard to make our experience terrific. A little kayak training beforehand was useful.
- Richard R00Great Wilderness Experience with Great ComfortThis was our third trip with Roaring 40s. This one was the 7-day SW Tassie tour and was every bit as good as our previous 4-day SW and 7-day Gordon River trips. As always the scenery was fantastic and the food excellent. We hope to do a Flinders Island trip with them at some future time. Thoroughly recommended!
- 452rebekahb00Gordon RiverI did the 7-day Gordon River trip and loved it! I went on my own, but it didn't matter. Everyone was friendly. Our guides - Kevin and Tim were professional but friendly and approachable. Nothing was too much trouble. We had plenty of good food, wine and nibbles. It is such a beautiful place and so good to get off grid. Looking forward to booking my next trip.
- 246rodd00Unique Experience with Outstanding GuidingWhat an amazing trip. Exceeded all expectations. Damo was a fantastic guide and went above and beyond to give us a unique experience while at the same time ensuring everyone's safety. Kayaking under the sea cliffs of cape hauy and past the candle stick will live long in the memory.

Allie was a fantastic guide who led our novice group through the waves with no issues. She was calm and reassuring with the one member of the family who was a little anxious (i.e. me 😊) and we all had a fantastic time. I would recommend this tour to all abilities and would definitely do it again if I had the opportunity.

Well organized 2,5 hour trip, started with a good introduction to the equipment and usage thereof. As soon as we were on the water, the group was kept together while some inetresting facts about the surroundings were passed. Inside the harbour we got a nice serving of fish and chips while staying in the kayak. All in all a very enjoyable trip

Such a great little ride and useful tips and tricks. We went out as a group with the main owner (sorry I can't remember the name), he was excellent and very informed. He helped everyone get sorted with gear, explained exactly what was going to happen and was extremely skilled in the kayak. Highly recommended this company and the kayak course they offer as it is vital information even if you are just a recreational kayaker.
Such a great small business that offers superb product, we need more of them.

Awesome kayaking trip with hosts Tim and Catherine who ran a very smooth and informative operation. Saw lots from the kayak and was a great short adventure on Hobart’s busy waterfront. Lots of fun and highly recommend with great fish and chips included with the package which was something different. Would recommend to anyone who can use a kayak.

We really enjoyed this experience - it was fantastic and Tim our guide was pleasant, friendly, informative, at times funny and safety conscious. The equipment provided was all in good shape and the kayaking trip was very scenic, not too strenuous and fun. A great way to spend 2.5hrs in the open air. Thank you

This is our third multi day trip with Roaring 40's and they just keep getting better and better. This time we were lucky enough to experience Macquarie harbour and paddle the wilderness of the Gordon river. Our guides Tori and Aaron worked so hard making this trip such an excellent experience, even with the weird and wonderful dietary requirements we lumbered them with. Looking forward to paddling with them again. Steve

Maddi was so professional and took great care to adjust her instruction to cater to the needs of my sister and her friend who are both blind. This paddle was just the right distance for novices and included fish and chips while sitting in the kayak in the sheltered dock in Hobart city. This was my second trip with Roaring 40s as I also did the day paddle to see the caves and beaches. Both experiences were just fantastic.

It's pity that the Tasman full day tour was cancelled due to the strong winds forcast, however, they suggested an easier Hobart Kayak tour instead, which is more chilled and also fun. The guides Dan and Lachie are doing awesome job. They are being very patient, helpful and professional during the tour. Hope that I would come visit Tassie again soon, and I would def love to do the Tasman tour next time! x Veronica

Fabulous to hear you enjoyed this relaxed kayak tour exploring around the Hobart waterfront. Sorry the winds were too strong to take you paddling on the Tasman Peninsula but hopefully we will see you for a Tasman trip next time you visit. Thanks so much for the review. Cheers

A wonderful experience for young kids and the older but young at heat with minimal experience. Personal and very professional guide. Stunning surrounds and unforgettable experiences on the water. We got to paddle through constitution dock viewing many of the Sydney to Hobart yachts. We saw boats under spinnaker up the Derwent and were on the finish line and in the docks for several finishes. Stunning and privileged way to view

I did the week long Gordon River trip out of Strahan and can’t recommend it enough. I’m a sea kayak instructor and have paddled in Sweden, Croatia, Ningaloo, Shark Bay and Dirk Hartog Island and this trip matches and exceeds them. It is remote, magical and getting to paddle in the bottom of the Franklin was a highlight. Meals were fantastic and Tory and the crew from Roaring 40’s were great. Just do it!

I noticed what looked like double and possibly some single kayaks. Are you in a double and the guides are in the kayak with you or are the guides in a separate one? As two of us are looking at booking so not sure if we would have 2 kayaks and in each of them ourselves with a guide or if we booked one and the two of u ould be in it and then the guide in a separate one. If you could confirm please?
