- Please note that due to damaged roads, the Council has requested that we avoid parking at the ferry terminal. We will instead be parked at Lloyd Collins Park, which is to your left of the Sealink Terminal, along the waterfront. Please follow the signs to the park. There will also be information staff there to help assist any that need to be pointed in the right direction. We will also endeavor to have one of our staff members with a sign saying Kangaroo Island Trails, who will also point you to where you need to go. Please try and be on a tender as early as possible as we do have a deadline with departure times as per below: Scenic Tour - 08:30am - 09:00am. - (Times may vary depending on time of first and last tenders coming across from Cruise Ship) We aim to depart 1 hour to 1.5 hours from the time of the 1st tender. We do receive an email from the Captains office 24 hours prior to the ship arriving, notifying us of the times of the 1st and last tender and we work in with that. If the last tender is 5:00pm then we have you back by 4:30pm. If it's 5:30pm, we aim to be back by 5:00pm but most of the time we are back by 4:30pm. Please note that if you do miss your tour, we will only refund 50% of the tour as we have expenses incurred that are prepaid, that does not get refunded to us. Every endeavour will be made to contact you but tours do have cut off times as we have other passengers to take into consideration. Please also note that if your cruise ship is arriving late and leaving early, we will have to alter the itinerary. We may not be able to get all the way out to Flinders Chase and may do Seal Bay, Emu Bay, and Kingscote instead. TRAVEL INSURANCE We highly recommend TRAVEL INSURANCE as from time to time the captain may cancel the tenders from coming in due to severe weather or other issues. In this event, due to the expenses involved in preparing for the cruise ship tours, we do NOT offer a refund. Please compare travel insurance policies as some will cover cancellation costs due to severe weather, while others may not, also please check the excess. If you purchase the Cruise Ship companies travel insurance, they will NOT cover external tours. Covermore Travel Insurance for Cruising - Australian Waters, does cover tour cancellation fees due to severe weather, it also has an inbound policy for non Australian residents.

About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- N5109MKjonathanl0 contributionsExceptional Kangaroo Island tourWe had a great tour of Kangaroo Island with our very friendly and informative tour guide, Pete. Great way to see the amazing sites and wildlife and find out about the history of this unique island.Written October 3, 2024
- Vera_Ant0 contributionsMust do!!Absolutely recommended. And we specifically enjoyed our guide, Pete, who explained us a lot of interesting things about nature, plants, geological information and the history of the island. I wish everyone to have Pete as guide because he really made our day! But, of course, the nature and beautiful places covered by this tour are worth it!Written September 8, 2024
- sandrat7340 contributionsA great day THANKS !!!This was a great trip and I am so grateful that you ran it even though I was the only guest !! I could not have done this four myself and I had a really lovely day with Pete. On my own I would not have had a whiting burger at Vivonne Bay either … I thoroughly recommend that and also they make a fabulous dirty chai :D :DWritten August 28, 2024
- susankP1891NN0 contributionsSpecial 'down under' experiencesMy husband and I booked two tours with Kangaroo Island Trails in March: the Half Day Tasting Tour and the Scenic, Nature & Wildlife Tour. This company was recommended by friends in Adelaide and the tours were one of the highlights of our visit to Australia. Our satisfaction was in no small part due to the excellent tour guide Pete we had for both tours. He was superb! Friendly right from the start and so knowledgeable about the sites and offerings of Kangaroo Island. We also really liked the concept of small group tours. In fact, for the Tasting Tour there were only 3 guests: ourselves and one other lady. Probably not so good for your business, but for us it was a very personal tour and we had alot of attention from Pete. He seemed to be 'Australia personified'. On the tasting tour we really enjoyed the large lavender scones at the Lavender Farm on Emu Bay. And then the paddles of KI ciders (at the Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Oil Distillery), gin (at KI Spirits) and wine (at the Bay of Shoals winery). The next morning we were ready for the full day tour of the island. A special opportunity to see the sea lions at Seal Bay followed by lunch at the General Store in Vivonne Bay: fresh grilled whiting on a toasted Turkish bun. Delicious, and as good as at any restaurant in a city. We then travelled over to Flinders Chase National Park area and thoroughly enjoyed a walk around the Remarkable Rocks. Amazing geological formation. We will definitely recommend Kangaroo Island Trails to friends who are considering visiting Australia. It was well worth travelling so far from Canada.Written August 22, 2024
- nadiamdullaghan0 contributionsGreat day on Kangaroo islandThe day was much better than expected, we were a small group of only 6 and our guide Frank made the day very enjoyable with excellent commentary on the local wildlife and we were able to spend as much time as we wanted at each site, would highly recommend this group tourWritten August 16, 2024
- MET10130 contributionsGreat tour experienceAmazing tour of KI with awesome sights and scenery Our guide Pete was entertaining and extremely knowledgeable and made our day on the island perfectWritten April 27, 2024
- _a_browna0 contributionsK I Trails - a great way to see KI.We had a fabulous full day tour of KI our driver and tour guide Pete was very knowledgeable, engaging and friendly -we both learnt so much about the islands flora and fauna. Besides being taken to the islands historical spots and national parks, we also stopped along the islands roadways to view native wildlife such as koalas, goanna, eagles. Lots of photos were taken! We highly recommend Kangaroo Island Trails and our tour guide / driver Pete.Written April 21, 2024
- 194shannond0 contributionsbest tour ever! Nikki was the best guide ever!We did a private wildlife tour. Nikki was our guide and she is so incredibly knowledgeable of the flora and fauna, being a naturalist who grew up on Kangaroo Island. She knew all the back roads and got us to so many different out of the way places tour buses couldn't go. We saw so much different wildlife in such a short period, and avoided most of the crowds. She tailored our tour to exactly what we wanted and gave us a fantastic lunch on the beach. Thank you so much Nikki.Written April 19, 2024
- briankL6922DV0 contributionsMemorable KI Experience!Really remarkable and memorable experience on Kangaroo Island. We enjoyed every minute of our journey around the unique island. We were fortunate to have the most incredible guide, Nikki Redman, who knew every piece of the land and the history that surrounded it. We were grateful to have her experience and dedication along the way. Plus, her photography is on another level - don't forget to ask her about that too! Couldn't recommend this experience enough, well worth it! Don't hesitate, and book it!Written April 3, 2024
- dosz0 contributionsWorth the money! This tour seemed expensive when I booked but it was totally worth the money, especially if you don't have your own transport. A very full day of sightseeing and wildlife spotting which gives you an appreciation of Kangaroo Island's scenery and some of its iconic species e.g. sea lions, fur seals, echidnas. Unfortunately we didn't see any of the eponymous kangaroos, but I had seen them myself the day before. Driver Pete was friendly, engaging and knowledgable about the island's ecology and animals (I am an ecologist and learned some new stuff), though he didn't know some of the heathland plants, so it might be a good idea to have a plant book in the bus for those who are interested in the botanicals. The whiting burger for lunch at Vivonne Bay store was delicious. Highly recommended.Written March 26, 2024
- Passenger261115817300 contributionsKangaroo IslandFantastic experience, going around the Island. Seen many wildlife including kangaroos, Wallabies, koalas, seals, pelicans! Went to Flinders Chase and there was remarkable rocks and admirals arch for great pictures! 100% recommendWritten March 1, 2024
- 812malcolmt0 contributionsAn absolute "Must do" !!We were extremely fortunate to be recommended to try to book Nikki Redman as our guide for our almost 9 hour long wildlife and scenic tour. Nikki is a delightful Lady, is passionate about her subject and is a human encyclopedia covering all aspects of animals, plants, trees and the history of Kangeroo Island. A trip which we will remember for ever. Thank you Nikki.Written February 29, 2024
- Cruiser039210001960 contributionsUnforgettable day on the islandNikki Redman is a joy to explore the island with. Her knowledge and love of the animals is palpable, and the places we visited were spectacular. This day was one of the highlights of my life.Written February 27, 2024
- karenm3350 contributionsa relaxing day of food, wine and nature. We were lucky to get on this tour as we hadn't pre-booked anything before arriving at KI. After meeting some fellow travelers on a different company tour of the island the previous day the 4 of us booked together. Our driver was amazingly knowledgeable of the island and readily adapted our tour as we had visited one venue the previous day. we visited Clifford's Honey ( great ice cream), the lavender farm ( a delicious lunch)- two excellent wineries (Bay of Shoals and Springs Road) and the Gin distillery- with a great snack from Jenny's van - thank you for the recommendation. The added joy was the spotting of koala and kangaroo in the wild as our guide knew where to look; also some great photos of the amazing silos. My apologies as having a memory blank re our guides name ( which is poor of me) but he was wonderful company and we really enjoyed our day - just paced perfectly.Written February 27, 2024
- Gregg P0 contributionsDon’t Miss This One!You won’t find a better tour than this! She lives on the island and knows just what wildlife is where and when to see them. Clean touring vehicle and a great guide that loves nature!Written February 25, 2024

We had a great time with Nikki. She was able to spot wildlife off in the distance and slowed down for us to be able to see it. She knew exactly where to look for it. She was very friendly, made us feel very comfortable. We were surprised when she brought out bagette roll sandwiches for lunch. She showed us her book, but did not try to force us to buy it like so many others do. If I am ever in this part of the world I would not hesitate to book her again.
One suggestion: we found this tour listed under Victor Harbor, it might draw in more people if it were listed under Kangaroo Island

Our cruise ship was not able to use the tenders when we first arrived due to the heavy seas. We finally started to tender in about 11 AM. I had contacted Kylie-Jane, the owner, who said we would still be able to do a shortened tour. Many of us arrived by 11:30 or 12:00. Some people in the other bus wanted to go and leave the others behind. She waited until 12:30 and even asked people along the walkway if they were on her tour. Found two couples this way. She really could not wait any longer or there would be no time. Technically, she would not have had to do the tour as her policy is no refund if we don't arrive. She really went above and beyond to make a tour enjoyable as best she could. It was a difficult situation. Thank you, Kylie-Jane!!!

Hello, thank you so much for this very kind review. It is very reassuring to read your acknowledgment of the difficult situation on Friday. We are very grateful that you have taken the time to share this. We are so happy that we were eventually able to introduce many to our beautiful island, although shorter than expected. We really hope that you can join us again one day and thank you again!

We booked this tour as our cruise was stopping at KI and quite frankly it was sunstantially cheaper than booking an onboard shore tour. We had a fabulous day , we saw so much , many thanks to Kylie who was a great guide and very knowlegable. Yes there was a bit of driving but we can say we saw a lot ! From Remarkable rocks , Admirals Arch , Seal Bay , the Eucalyptus distillery , a couple of lookouts and we even found some Koalas in their natural habitat . Sufficient time at each spot to take it all in . What an enjoyable tour . Oh and the salad we had for lunch was one of the nicest salads Ive ever had ! And we had no dramas or time constraints in order to return to the cruise on time. Can thoroughly recommend KI Trails Shore tours. Thanks again

First off, the company was extremely accommodating as I was staying in a lodge on the eastern side and I had no car. They were gracious enough to pick me up at that location for which I am very thankful to them for doing so. Additionally, I was very thankful that they did not cancel the group tour as I was the only one on the tour that day (it is spring so off-season but a wonderful time to visit). I had Cheryl as my tour guide and she was a wealth of knowledge on flora and fauna and the history of the island. She is also just a fun and relaxed person which makes the tour even more pleasant. I learned a lot about Kangaroo island and Australia itself during the entire day. Cheryl made a tremendous effort for me to be able to see Stokes Bay at the end of the tour even though we ran past the allotted tour timetable. It was very kind of her to do so and Stokes Bay was unbelievable. The Remarkable Rocks are amazing as was Admiral's Arch. Learning about the sea lions and seals and seeing them was fabulous as well. This tour covered all of the largest attractions in an impressive amount of time. I am very glad I chose this company and had Cheryl as my guide.

Our driver/guide, Cheryl, was very informative and helpful - and she was to be congratulated for her efforts. However, it is a very long and disappointing day as there is so little to see in between the highlights - Seal Bay, the Remarkable Rocks and Admiral's Arch. The tour took over 8 hours - the first toilet stop was 2 hours after we started; there was no morning tea; lunch was served at 1:50pm and consisted of a bottle of juice and a Greek salad in a plastic container (to be eaten whilst travelling with wooden utensils)! As there were children on board, it was a totally unsuitable meal. Surely, a wrap or sandwich would have been a better option.
The Remarkable Rocks were certainly impressive but hardly worth the 3 hour drive.

Despite a rocky start due to some unclear advertising, we enjoyed a very informative tour with local Nikki who had extensive knowledge and a lovely and lively way of imparting this. We were able to take in many sights and learn about wildlife on KI while having our endless questions answered along the way. Nikki took care of the needs of all guests and had us on time and on track all day. Visiting the Sea Lions ‘bedroom’ is a memorable highlight.

Relieved to find the tour bus waiting for us (we arrived later than planned and also had to be tendered) and the promise to get us back in time to board the ship!
Wonderful tour of all the sights on the list. Especially like the remarkable rocks, the Gap and the seals.
Fantastic picnic lunch with great views. Our guide (I thought I'd written his name down but can't see it now) knew so much about the island, its history and culture.
Good value for money too.

Unfortunately it seems that cruise ships anchor at one end of the island while the main sights are at the the opposite end which means there was a fair amount of driving but it was well worth doing. Our guide, Cheryl, was very informative and shared her local knowledge with us to make this a memorable experience. The stunning views made this an unforgettable trip.

Thank you! That is most certainly true regarding anchorage and sights. Unfortunately for our unique island, boat and ship anchorage is restricted to docking in the safest areas and the least vulnerable passages of ocean for guests. We love that you experienced such a memorable tour. The views are absolutely worth remembering. Thank you so much for taking the time to leave your review.

Our guide Nikki is a gem ! A local and passionate about wildlife and nature she gave us insight and inspiration in equal amounts . KI is recovering amazingly from the devastating bushfires and is now lush green. The tour took us to Remarkable Rocks , Admirals Arch and Seal Bay with lunchstop ( yummie locally made rolls and strudel) at the old lighthouse store . Nikki made sure we saw koalas , KI Roos , eagles etc . We all need to visit KI as it truly is amazing, and this tour is highly recommended.

Kangaroo Island is a stunning breath taking must visit Australian island. We visited Flinder's Chase National Park, Remarkable Rocks, Admirals Arch to name a few. Saw lots of seals sunbaking on the beaches, sea lions, koalas & the odd kangaroo. Our guide Nikki, was friendly, informative & is a passionate advocate for all the natural beauty of Kangaroo Island. If Kangaroo Island isn't on your bucket list it should be.
