From the time Innez picked us up until we were dropped back at are accommodation we had a fantastic, amazing time. We were treated like royalty with a fun loving, friendly, smiling and very knowledgeable tour guide. A beautiful Adelaide day made the panoramic view at Mt Lofty stunning followed by wine tasting amongst the Kangaroos at Nepenthe Wines. We had limited knowledge of wine making and the different grape varieties but left the cellar door beaming with information and of course leaving with a Gruner Veltliner and Pinot Noir Rose. Next stop, Melba's Chocolate & Confectionery factory and next door, G&C cheese where we tasted buffalo cheese and gin infused cheese (both very tasty). Lunch at the German Arms Hotel was most memorable due to the surroundings, friendly staff, German beer and the huge meals followed by their dream apple strudel dessert. Innez gave us an exceptional overview of the history of Hahndorf and the life of the local Germans during the second world war. We were given plenty of time to explore Hahndorf and enjoy the autumn coloured street lined trees, historic buildings, crafts and museum. Some more wine and cider tasting at Sidewood Winery before a walk around the Bridgewater Mill witnessing the largest waterwheel in Australia. After wine, cheese and chocolate tasting along with a huge lunch, Innez had a couple of weary guests with a mini fridge in the boot full of 'goodies' to drive back to Adelaide. A huge thanks to Adelaide's Top Food & Wine Tours for a wonderful unforgettable day out. It was obvious to us that this family owned business values their clientele and we found them to be very professional while at the same time providing a value for money tour. Put this on your 'bucket list' Brilliant.

This was a great day tour. Our driver/guide Danny was very knowledgeable and made me fall in love with the city of Adelaide! He noticed a koala sleeping in a tree while we were all busy looking at the view from Mt Lofty so he made sure he pointed it out to everyone on our way back to the bus which we all appreciated 😊

Unfortunately the cheese tasting was no longer part of the tour (thanks covid!) So it would have been good if something else had been included in it's place. Both wine tastings were delicious and I highly recommend the chocolate from Melbas chocolate factory 😊 Hahndorf is a beautiful little town and the 60 mins we had to explore was a good amount of time.

Bruce was our guide for the day, very informative, knowledgeable and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble.
There were only 4 of us on the tour so it was a very relaxed and enjoyable day.
We went to 2 wineries, Nepenthe and Sidewood. JJ at Nepenthe was excellent, Sidewood not so. They were too busy and only had one staff member working who wasn't able to spend any time with us, which was disappointing.
Lunch at the German Hotel in Hahndorf was excellent.
It was a lovely day and I would recommend this trip to anyone who has a free day whilst in Adelaide

Hi sharoncJ2517DI, Thank you for your review. Bruce always does a great job. And he loves people. Sidewood can get very busy there. They are about to open their new cellar door which will - hopefully, alleviate the noise problem. But that said thank you again for your review. Cheers Danny

The full day tour with Danny was excellent. We hadn't been to Adelaide or through the Adelaide Hills before, and this was the perfect, jam-packed day.
From the moment we got in the van, Danny was sharing interesting facts and stories about locations, attractions and the history of towns. We took a very scenic route and drove through plenty of surrounding villages.. truly breathtaking.
Our tour group size was just perfect with 8 people in total. It made it easy to get around, and easy to chat as a group throughout the day.

The attractions and locations we visited were perfect, with just the right amount of time at each. Danny was flexible and made sure we were enjoying our day. We visited wineries, Mt Lofty lookout, the chocolate factory, cheese factory, multiple villages, and spent a few hours shopping in Hahndorf, walking off our huge, authentic 2-course lunch from the German pub.

We saw a huge variety of locations and attractions and learnt the backstories to all of them. The day trip exceeded our expectations and I will be spruiking this to everyone I know.

There are plenty of tour options out there, but this is the best if you are looking for the perfect tour group size, a day full of attractions, and a very informed and enjoyable tour guide.

We have just returned from a wonderful day with Danny to the Adelaide Hills and Hahndorf. Danny is a wonderful person who made our day very enjoyable. We started off with spectacular views from Mount Lofty then on to Beerenberg Factory. The winery was enjoyed very much and we loved driving through the little villages around Hahndorf. We were so lucky to be in a small vehicle with a personalised tour around the quaint little cottages. Danny is a wealth of knowledge and we learnt so much. Also visited the Melba Chocolate factory and cheese shop next door. Also a lovely little whiskey/gin shop. Then on to Hahndorf for an amazing lunch at the Hotel Goodness you certainly need a good appetite. The food is wonderful ! A leisurely walk around Hahndorf followed lunch then we were so lucky to have Danny drive us around some more villages and on to Stirling for a coffee. He finished off our tour with a drive around North Adelaide. We really appreciated how he customised our tour around our interests. Its fantastic to have a small group and travel in a luxury small van. Very comfortable indeed. We enjoyed our time with Danny and the other guests immensely and highly recommend this tour when you are in the area. Cant wait to book another tour with Danny as soon as we return again.

I really enjoyed this day tour to Adelaide Hills. Danny C was a great guide, very relaxed and he didn’t rush us (which is often the case on other day trips). The wineries we visited were lovely and very scenic. Lunch in Hahndorf was very nice as well. I really appreciated Danny’s calm and welcoming demeanour and dry sense of humour. I definitely recommend this tour and the tour operator in particular.

Our tour guide Innez showed us a wonderful time - from breathtaking views from Mt Lofty & visiting the Ash Wednesday display there, to a fascinating visit to the Beerenberg Family Farm, where we were able to purchase and ship home items. Then a truly memorable visit to Hans Heysen's house & studio, and a large delicious lunch at the German Arms. We then visited the Big Rocking Horse & Toy Factory, featuring beautiful Australian-made toys. We travelled through some of the lovely small towns, shopped at Melba's chocolate factory. Unfortunately due to the excessive heat that day, the cheese factory was closed, but we stopped for cool drinks in Stirling. Throughout, Innez told us the stories of the local area & was always ready to fit in with our requirements. The air-conditioned Mercedes was extremely comfortable.

The Hanhdorf Tour was a great day. We got to see and experience a wide range of places. Danny was a good and informative tour guide, who made sure we got to see as much of the area as possible. We highly recommend the tour, much better than trying to do it yourself.

The stop at Hahndorf was really good. Lots to see and do and good food to eat.

Also, our guide was very knowledgeable and interesting.

However, I had wanted to enquire about upgrading my lunch order from the set menu but was told 'no'.

The main disappointment for us was not going to Mount Lofty to see the view. We had been promised this on the way home but, because our last winery was slow in serving us, we were running 10 minutes late and our guide said that meant we could not go. We have been on two other bus tours during our stay and neither was so regimented about time. So, we finished the day with a disappointment which was unpleasant.
