    Jeep vs Small Car
Booked a jeep but got a MG3 due to some booking mess up. Although a refund for the difference is made, I missed the opportunity to drive in a fantastic looking jeep.

    Orpheus Island Day Trip
Today, my husband, adult daughter and I went on the Orpheus island Day trip from the Townsville SeaLink terminal. Each of us agreed, it was a wonderful day. The crew, from check in and on board were very polite, helpful and did their very best to ensure that everyone on board had a wonderful day. We cruised through past many beautiful Islands to Orpheus Island. Orpheus island was majestic, where we had the opportunity to snorkel in the clean blue water, with many beautiful colored fish, coral and even a stingray. The delicious morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea was very nice, as we enjoyed the view from the beach. Thank you very much to the Great staff for a Wonderful day. We highly recommend this day trip :)

    A well run ferry service.
Ferries were on time, fast, efficient and everything that you would want. Recommended. We booked the day before our trip and ticket purchases was just as easy.

    Well organised boat trip
This is a must do when visiting Townsville. Many tourists travel to stay on the island but we did the day tour. The whole trip was professionally organised.

    Fast transfer
With Sunday transfers more spaced apart we were lucky to arrive a half hour before they set sail. A quick no fuss ticket purchase process with speedy boarding and a peaceful, comfortable 20 minute ride we reached our destination. The staff and crew are to be recognised for the great work they do!

    Great
Went over for the New Years Eve bash, but was planning on staying longer, but got flooded out. The 30-minute trip over by car on the Ferry was fast, efficient and well organized.

Sealink Ferry and car hire deal - will not get you to West Point!
Impossible to inquire about this deal directly through the website what ever vehicle was selected, but also on the website were links to 4 car hire companies. I approached 3 of them advertising 4WD hire to get to West Point. I asked for 4WD. Sealink replied under the guises of one hire company but when I got the car booking it was with another car hire company. When we arrived at the car hire company we hadn’t write to to retrieve the car it was not a 4WD we were told none of the companies Sealink deals with offer a vehicle to get to West Point (so why was booking a 4WD to get to west point even on the Sealink Magnetic island website!). Car we got was 2WD, old and didn’t even have a working electronic key. In summary nothing was directly bookable on line, the whole process was very opaque with websites providing disinformation about being able to get to West Point. The deal offered multiple options for island access when there was really only one - no access to West Point

    Nice trip.
Booked online, parked within 10 meters of the terminal and after collecting our tickets walked straight onto the ferry. Timed to perfection. Plenty of seating, in all kinds of configurations. The staff were friendly, happy and helpful. We enjoyed our trip both ways.

    Thanks for the safety!
Sealink Ferries are really doing everything to look after their passengers in this difficult time with distancing and hygiene priorities in the terminals and onboard. Thanks guys!

    Busy service
Sealink provides many services every day and evening to and from Magnetic Island. A relaxing cruise across the 8 kms to the island sets you up for a visit to a beautiful part of Queensland. There is a good local bus service there as well as some hire cars. Drive carefully on the narrow roads and plan your day well so you don't miss any of the bays, the old fort walk, and my special favourite the hands-on tour at the Koala Sanctuary.

We had a good day, except the weather was very windy and clouds were grey so we didn't have a good day for snorkelling. We did attempt snorkelling where lots of others were, but the water is quite deep that even if it was a good day, it still would have been average.

We quickly realised that it is a very busy island! The buses are packed, and lots of people hovering around the info centre where the ferries drop. We had an issue with one of the bus drivers - we weren't sure where to stop exactly on the bus route, so we told the driver that we wanted to go on the walk to see the koalas. He was talking to another man that was on the bus before we got on there, and throughout the whole journey. Then i noticed that i think we had passed where we were meant to get off. I got up and said that to him, and he denied that i had ever said anything to him about being dropped off there, and there was only about another 3 other people on this particular bus. So i told him to stop right now so we cold walk back, and he said no and so drove all the way to the next stop which is definitely not a walk away. He still denied it regardless, and said the next bus to take us back that way would be in 10 mins, which it WAS NOT it was about 30 mins. So we had to wait there until the next bus to take us there, so we wasted a whole hour because of the driver not listening to us, and being rude about it to us. I think it was because we were young backpackers. At least admit that you forgot and apologise, and just say i never said anything to him. So in that time we were waiting for the next bus, we decided to call Sealink and complain about the driver. Bu t they told us that bus drivers are actually part of the local council staff, and so we had to call them and complain to them. After being passed around so many times over the phone, we were finally able to get through, But really that was a waste of time also.

Anyway, we got over it and enjoyed our walk when we got there and saw many wild koalas! Everyone along the way was really friendly, telling us where they had seen a koala, and we did the same for others. The beaches were enjoyable as well.

But like i said in the title, we have been to better, nicer islands. This was just on our bucket list to visit.

Hi Deanna, Thank you for taking the time to write a review! It's very disappointing to hear you had a poor experience with another company during your visit to Magnetic Island. Unfortunately as they are not affiliated with SeaLink it is difficult for us to comment on your feedback. In saying that we are glad you saw many of the gorgeous koalas on The Forts trail and were able to enjoy the many beaches even though it was a cloudy day (typical of a Summer/wet season day here in North Queensland ;-D). We hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday and thank you very much for choosing to travel to Magnetic Island with SeaLink.

We got to magnetic island and of course we had some questions as everyone about the transport, so we head up to the information center of sealink and we asked a women about the bus and she answered really rude , she was angry and didn’t even care about helping . If she is working there to help the tourist she then must help , and don’t get angry about questions even if it seems obvious to her . This is the first time in australi that I feel like someone is not respectful and kind. I’ll like to think the reason she acted like that was a hard day.

I can only imagine how much money they make by cramming hundreds of passengers on this ferry at 39 dollars per person. At that price I would expect more amenities on there and certainly I have caught other similar ferries around Australia for a fraction of that price. But it is fast, I’ll give it that.

Be sure to collect some booklets about magnetic island at the terminal or information center when you get there. They have useful maps and a list of attractions

Dear Rebecca Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are sorry to hear that you found our services expensive. Our pricing policy is very similar to other ferry companies that operate locally and interstate and majority of our customer’s reviews state that we are great value for money. Regarding passenger numbers, we never overload our vessels and always adhere to vessel capacities as the safety and comfort of our customers are our top priorities. These school holidays were extremely busy, and well above our forecasted numbers for this period. Managing specific times when an unusually high volume of passengers are travelling outside our previously identified peak travel demands is challenging. Our passengers continue to enjoy the flexibility of being able to hop on any of our services but that does sometimes mean that some service can be extremely busy. We take guest service and satisfaction very seriously and we are committed to continuous improvements to ensure our passengers have a pleasurable experience. On behalf of all of the team at SeaLink, we hope to welcome you onboard a SeaLink vessel again soon. Kind regards, Cassie from SeaLink North Queensland

It was very quiet in April. The whole process was very easy, convenient and smooth to and from Magnetic Island. Helpful staff and they even have a bar onboard in the main cabin. Even though the weather wasn’t great on the way back, the ride was still very smooth.

What a wonderful experience! I travelled to Magnetic Island with my family for a well deserved holiday. From start to finish we had the time of our lives. The ferry was fast, clean, and fun! Special mention must go to Tom on the vessel Coolgaree Cat. He went above and beyond providing us with exceptional customer service. Great tips about North Queensland and some real comedic flair to top it off. Highly recommend Sealink. We cannot wait to be back!!

Faster than the car ferry. Also more convenient Townsville terminal location, being more handy for the CBD and with regular bus service into town. Frequent services - great that last boat back to Magnetic Island runs as late as 10.30pm.
