- Melinda C0 contributionsAnother great experienceThis is our second time sailing on the Shaolin. It was fun, relaxed and very informative. The beer was cold and the snacks were just enoughWritten September 30, 2024
- CaroleD18680 contributionsWhat a pleasant couple of hours on the waterWe had a great afternoon on the Shaolin. Brae and the Captain were fantastic hosts - very informative, funny, great food and drinks, and a super relaxing trip on the water. Overall it was such a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours. Highly recommended.Written September 11, 2024
- annaiU6628VH0 contributionsReally fun informative experienceRob and Jade were really relaxed and friendly, with a great knowledge of the area. The weather wasn’t great so we didn’t go out to sea, as it was too rough or see a sunset, but it didn’t matter, we had a fantastic time. Sat out on the deck until the rain came. Complimentary drink and nice snacks were great. Saw 2 crocodiles going up the estuary. We would go on this again next time we’re here. Highly recommend.Written September 5, 2024
- joshuawP4830LU0 contributionsRelaxing peaceful sunset cruiseGreat experience. Local crew gave us info about where we travelled plus insight on important mangroves. Easy to book. No stress.Written September 4, 2024
- betsyb0050 contributionsGreat experience! Well worth it.This trip was great value for money, especially considering the price. Jade and Robbie (I think this was the captain's name!) were incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the ship and the surrounding area. Things were super choppy out at sea so we didn't stay out there for long and instead did a longer estuary cruise, which was equally informative. The finger food was great, basically an entree before going out for dinner afterwards, and they catered for vegetarians, and they took time to check on the people in our group who experience seasickness. We sat on cushions on the deck above the cabin. It was pretty cool walking along the outside edge of the ship to get to the cabin while we were sailing. The experience was great. So glad we took the chance to do this.Written August 26, 2024
- P4455DSbillf0 contributionsLunchtime CruiseBooked the sunset cruise but was cancelled as the only 2 who booked. We were offered the lunchtime cruise instead for no extra charge which was a nice touch. Cruise was enjoyable with really fresh prawns. Overall a very good experience.Written August 7, 2024

The best reef tour you can do, review from a local that has done many tours and i have been back to do this one twice and will be back again.
Don't take the big boats that blast u out to the reef and herd u around like sheep.
Take an adventure on a historic boat feel the wind in your hair and breathe the life it has lived on its travels.
The crew skipper Flin and Tayler were exceptional, every attention to detail is covered with a vast knowledge that they willing share to make the whole experience 10*

Fantastic day out on Shaolin for the Low Isles sail and snorkel trip. Nice spacious boat and we were lucky to be part of a small group of only 7. The boat itself has an incredible history, make sure to ask the skipper about it. Rob was an amazing skipper, very knowledgeable of the local area and provided great commentary and stories throughout the day! Special thanks to Dani for being an excellent host and making the snorkeling very enjoyable! Rob’s island walk on Low Isles was excellent and very informative. We were so impressed with Rob and Dani we booked onto the Lady Douglas river tour a few days later where we managed to see a saltwater crocodile in its natural habitat! Would recommend these guys to everyone! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We had a day on the Shaolin visiting Low Isles on the last day of our Great Barrier Reef holiday. It was by far the best day we had! Rob was a wealth of knowledge and Floyd was a superb host both on the boat and in the water. It was a very personalised experience as there were only 13 of us onboard. We were well looked after and extremely well fed, my lunch onboard was nicer than some meals I’d had in the local restaurants! The reef area we were taken to was amazing! Very easy water to snorkel in, we saw an abundance of coral and marine life including a sea turtle and sharks! So happy we ended our holiday on the Shaolin and I highly recommend this company to anyone visiting Pt Douglas

From the moment we boarded the experience was amazing. Morning tea was waiting. Rob our skipper and Floyd the first mate made us feel so welcome chatting & telling us the history of the Shaolin Junk boat.
We chose Shaolin boat for it's uniqueness and also only took a max of 13 people , We were thankful we did as 120 people arrived on another boat later in the morning and looked like everyone was bumping into each other snorkeling) Thankfully we got to Low Isles before them and Floyd took us on a snorkeling tour and showed us so much marine life. We were only in the water for seconds before he showed us turtles.
Food/ snacks on beach then off on a island tour with Rob who loves a chat and gave us the history of the island.
More snorkeling then time to head back for lunch, Rob asked if we wanted to be dropped off at a Bommie to spot Nemo (which we saw) on the way back to boat .We then swam with black tip reef sharks back at the boat. Amazing lunch then headed home.
I highly recommend going to Low Isle's on the Shaolin Junk for an awesome day out.

As a family of 6 very opinionated adults (all over the age of 23) we were soooo happy with this experience.
Flynn and Connor were so welcoming and friendly from the get go. Informing us on the historical and contextual elements of the historical boat, the island and marine life. They made the experience feel like we were on a boat cruise with our mates.
The snorkelling was amazing and well guided by Connor who would lead us to incredible spots and explain various fun facts about what we were seeing.
My sister-in-law was a little nervous to snorkel and they made her feel super comfortable and were very empathetic towards her.
I myself have also taken part in the same snorkelling experience to Low Isle with a different charter company and can definitely pin point the differences. The Shaolin Charter is outstanding in comparison.
I would HIGHLY recommend this experience to any/everyone!!!
Thanks for such a great highlight towards our trip in Port Douglas!

We went on the Low Isle snorkel and I can't recommend the crew enough.
They were wonderfully helpful and as my husband is not confident in the water, Taylor who led the snorkelling tour kept a close eye on him. She was helpful with the equipment and very knowledgeable about all things reef related.
I was worried about climbing on and off but again help was at hand with instructions. You do have to be slightly agile, but definitely not young and fit.
The food was generous and delicious and the drinks were icy cold, which is exactly what you need after a couple of hours snorkelling.

Awesome experience. All crew were invested in making sure our experience was a memorable one. Saw so may turtles, exotic fish, beautiful corals, gigantic clams etc.
Tour of island, staff very knowledgeable of all history of the Island and all marine life.
Smorgasbord lunch was a delicious spread, plenty of prawns and food to go around. Love the small group size (max 15), so much more personal. Have done snorkeling trips here many times in the past. But would never chooses a different charter company again. Would use this family company on all my future trips amd would recommend them to everyone. Don't be just another number on a boat, be known by your name.

What an amazing day! We started the day from the Marina, greeted by the crew with morning coffee and fresh fruit, certainly setting the scene for the day. Enjoyed the time out to Low Isles, filled with facts and local knowledge, provided by the friendly crew. On arriving at Low Isles, we were prepared well ready for our snorkelling experience, assisted with great visibility, we were able to enjoy the company of an amazing range of fish, particularly some large fish and even turtles! Very exciting. Following snorkelling we returned to the beach of Low Isles, to enjoy the sunshine with some lovely snacks, perfect to re-fuel after our snorkelling. The crew then provided us with options of a walk around the island or further snorkelling, lovely to have options! Lunch was served aboard the boat, fresh salads, fresh meats, fresh prawns! Lovely! We were even able to enjoy our lunch whilst entertained by the reef sharks around the boat. A little added extra for lunchtime. Heading back Port Douglas was just as entertaining as we viewed a pod of dolphins, what a bonus! Certainly an amazing day, credit to Rob and Floyd for treating us to one of the best days out on the water imaginable. Thoroughly recommend the day, thanks again for taking care of us and we look forward to our next day out to Low Isles on the Shaolin.

A great way to spend a day, a slow cruise to the Low Islands, excellent snorkeling conditions, a guide in the water with you, seafood lunch and only 12 people on the boat. The relaxed way to spend time on a reef. First class info from the skipper and great service from the crewman.
Well done, Shaolin !

We had a magnificent time aboard the Shaolin. Our kids 11 & 12 had a great time. Even our kids fussy eating (Vegemite sandwiches) was catered for to perfection. Richard and especially Connor took care of every detail and couldn't have been more helpful. Luch was wonderful with more than enough food for everyone. Highly recommend you book this small group experience early, as they book out quick. Thanks once again to Richard and Connor for a spectacular day!!!

Im looking at booking this for a group of 4. Im confused about pricing and booking. Do i just book for 1 person? Which books my group? And is the price listed per person in group or the total for group?
