- 447pate0 contributionsUnique cruise around Port DouglasWe've just had the most relaxing yet interesting cruise on an authentic junk, which has an unbelievable history. The food was wonderful... barra and croc spring rolls followed by Tiger prawns......and the crew treated us like friends rather than customers.Written June 26, 2024

- K2781WQlisar0 contributionsSerene sailing on ShaolinAn absolute cracking day. Captain and team (Rob, Bray, Jade) were super positive and made the trip an absolute joy. Def great idea to be on such a beautiful boat, and with a small group. Everything was awesome. Including the weather!! I highly recommend taking this tour 😊Written March 13, 2024

- ebizaussie0 contributionsGreat afternoonThis is a great afternoon sail. We booked this a couple of months before because of the great reviews. We enjoyed every moment and our captain and hostess were both so informative and interesting. Our lunch was delicious and the prawns were straight from the trawler. Some of the best we’ve had. I don’t write many reviews but this one was outstanding. Thoroughly recommend this seafood luncheon.Written November 3, 2023
- mightyquinns0 contributionsHighly recommendGreat outing! Good snacks & drinks served (first one free!). Captain gave us a good summary of the local history and pointed out all landmarks. Relaxing sailWritten October 26, 2023
- Brenero0 contributionsShaolin and Low Isles snorkelling rocks! This was the 3rd time we have taken the Shaolin to go snorkeling at Low Isles off Port Douglas. It is the best day our for young and old. You mosey out to the Low Isles with a small number of other passengers taking about 75 minutes and well cared for by the captain and 2 crew members. Take in the great vistas and chilled vibes of the Shaolin. The snorkeling at Low Isles I rate having snorkelled in multiple places on the reef over the years. This trip we saw it all: swam with the turtles and a school of travelli; saw amazing colouful fish and coral and clam shells of all shapes and sizes; saw harmless reef sharks; and much more. The snorkeling gear provided by the Shaolin is top notch as are the tips, advice and tour to see the most. Morning tea is provided after about an hour of snokelling and then back into the water for some more snorkeling (you can also take a short tour of the island courtesy of the knowledgeable captain). A great lunch is provided back on the Shalin at 2 pm after which you return to Port Douglas totally relaxed. Highly recommended, great day for families too!Written October 7, 2023

- 497sashbash0 contributionsA Perfect day!Chilled music and lying on deck (snoozing on way back), stunning reef, so much wildlife (lost count of turtles, swam with sharks), interesting island tour, great food, good commentary . Would do again in heartbeat. Happy start to finish.Written May 15, 2023
- fsouthway0 contributionsNot to be missedThe Shaolin was replacing the Lady Douglas as the later was in dry dock. The trip was up the creak from Port Douglas. Would strongly recommend this trip as it was brilliant. Excellent crew, trip and food and information. If you don’t go you will have missed a trickWritten May 13, 2023

My husband & I really enjoyed our 90 minute sunset cruise. This was so beautiful and relaxing. The boat was a very authentic Chinese junk which definitely added character to the cruise. You could choose to sit inside or sit on the deck to enjoy the gorgeous views, we sat on the deck enjoying wine, beer and snacks whilst watching the sunset. Included in the ticket price is a free drink and snacks. Because of COVID the snacks were served in individual cardboard boxes. Well done team on your COVID safe plan. The crew Bretto & Tayla were very professional & friendly. I highly recommend this cruise when visiting Port Douglas, we had an amazing time on the boat. We also got some amazing photos as well.

Although it was too cloudy and the ocean too rough on the day, our sunset cruise was still worth it, sailing slowly in the inlet. It was fun meeting the friendly crew and hearing about the history of the 'junk'. There was a great bunch of people on the boat who all got along sharing drinks and canapes. Would recommend as a must do when in Port Douglas.

When u book a sunset sail boat trip you never know what the weather will be like - unfortunately it was but windy and overcast for us. However the captain looked after us and took us to calm waters. We purchased extra drinks at a reasonable price of $7 each. Staff were very friendly. We enjoyed sitting on the deck with our drinks and nibbles! Lovely way to end our last day in the beautiful town of Port Douglas 😊

We booked the sunset cruise for 23 April but bad weather caused the rescheduling of cruise to one that went up river than out into the bay due to 30 knot winds. While not what we booked the cruise was interesting and the Captain certainly had tales to tell and knew a lot about the wildlife and birds on the river. A complimentary drinks and hot and cold nibbles are included in the price. Best aspect of our trip was sailing on an authentic Chinese junk

Fantastic day trip out to Low Island. We were blessed with great weather and terrific visibility for snorkeling on the reef. The crew were very friendly and attentive, helped us all out with stinger suits and snorkeling gear as well as providing morning tea, plentiful buffet lunch and afternoon tea. Would highly recommend this day trip and by default also the sunset sail which we did not have the time to partake in.

While in Port Douglas we went on both their sunset sailing and their seafood lunch, both I would thoroughly recommend. The crew were so friendly and helpful. Flynn was very informative about the area and the food was delicious. Also as it was a small boat we got to know the other guests. All in all a great experience, thank you.

Despite the heavy rain and having to sail up the estuary we still loved our sunset cruise. The staff are so friendly and provide loads of interesting facts about the history of the boat and local area. Definitely worth adding to your ‘to do list ’ list whilst you are in Port Douglas.

We had a lovely time on the boat, very good value for money we thought with getting on the water for 1.5 hours and it included a drink and some snacks. After the initial drink they came around and took orders for more at very reasonable price so you could relax and enjoy the boat. The sea was going to be very rough so we went the river instead so it’s great they have a back up plan. The two staff members were lovely and we heard really interesting stories about port Douglas the whole time. A lovely way to spend an evening.

Although the weather wasn’t great (nobody can control that!) the crew made the experience memorable for all the right reasons.
Taking us up the inlet was actually brilliant, very calming and a great way to end a day.
Informative and entertaining crew who made us all feel very welcome and comfortable.
Will definitely do again when we’re back up next year!

We thought this was a beautiful way to get out on the water to watch the sunset. It was a bit cloudy so the sunset wasn't great but we still liked the boat ride out and also the trip down the estuary. The food was very basic but nice and the boat was lovely. It was super relaxing and great value for the money.

Hello, Is the sunset sailing suitable for bringing a 2.5 year old? Do you offer child and / or concession fairs? Many thanks

No ,There is not much room to move about and if the seas are choppy it could be dangerous, quite exposed to the sea .
