Overview
Set sail from Port Douglas for a day of snorkeling and relaxing on the Great Barrier Reef’s Low Isles. The sheltered white sands are surrounded by tropical waters filled with fish, turtles and coral for pristine off-beach snorkeling, just moments away from Low Isles . This smaller cruise is limited to 33 passengers, ensuring good company and helpful assistance from the crew. A buffet lunch is included, along with a reef interpretation sail in a glass-bottom boat with an expert marine biologist as your guide
Highlights
  • Sail out to the Great Barrier Reef in the early morning before the crowds
  • Leisure time to snorkel, lounge, or stroll lets you spend your time wisely
  • Marine biologist leads informative snorkel and glass-bottom boat tours
  • Travel light—cruises include a seafood buffet lunch and snorkel equipment
  • Port Douglas hotel pickup and drop-off make this tour convenient
What to Expect
Start your day’s adventure in the Great Barrier Reef's Low Isles with convenient hotel pickup in Port Douglas, and then transfer to the marina where you’ll board a luxury catamaran. With an early morning departure, you’ll arrive in the Low Isles before many of the crowds show up. Spend the next four and a half hours at your leisure—go snorkeling using the provided gear, simply lounge on the beach or boat, stroll down to the 19th-century lighthouse, or opt for a snorkeling or glass-bottom boat tour. The fact that a marine biologist guide leads these two tours means you'll get in-depth information about the reef and its colorful inhabitants, and there is plenty of time to ask questions. Midday, refuel with a seafood-focused lunch on board the boat. Return to Port Douglas and enjoy convenient drop-off back at your hotel.

Our family of four had a fantastic day visiting the Low Isles with Sailaway. We were very happy with the food (including two vegetarians), and the crew were friendly and professional. We were beginner snorkellers and not sure how we'd go, but we all loved...More

We were few peoples on the boat, so the day was very relaxed... I cannot say if it would be the same if the boat was full (30 peoples). The Low Island reef was highly interesting, so many parrotfish and so many other fish. Everything...More

I would recommend two activities: one is a trip with the company we used (see my comments) out through the Great Barrier Reef so that you can snorkel or not, but see it all. I am not a great or very secure swimmer and had... More

We saw many small black tipped sharks swimming back and forth right along the beach. We didn't bother them and they didn't bother us. The captain and guides are always on watch so am sure that they would notify us of any... More

We requested vegetarian meals in advance and were accommodated. I don’t recall if the regular main offerings were all seafood or not but there were non-seafood side dishes and fruit.
