- ctheworld670 contributionsStart here first!A great tour to take at the start of your visit to Cairns. Great overview of the history of the town and many informative additional details about where to find good food! Book it for your first day and you will have a good base for a great visit.Written April 9, 2024
- kathleendH3448PH0 contributionsBest way to learn the history of CairnsExcellent walking tour of Cairns. Guide exceptionally knowledgeable about the area and its history. Would highly recommend.Written February 18, 2024
- Pe7e0 contributionsAn exceptional walking tour for an incite into Cairns history, architecture and folkloreI rate this 90 minute walking tour of Cairns inner city very highly and would put it as a must do. Our guide Peter is able to convey an immense knowledge of history, architecture styles and local foke lore over the course of an easy walk. The style is very much like a conversation in delivery with added “old photos’ to view from his tablet. Peter opened our eyes to Cairns. We commenced a 5pm walk on a 35deg 75% humidity afternoon, but the pace ensured no hardship at all - due mostly to the fascination of the sites and stories. My wife and I did this on our last day - hindsight says do this on day 1 or 2 (our guide will smile at this - he says 90% say this). I have no hesitation in recommending Cairns Urban Walking Tours at all. (Jan30, 2024)Written January 30, 2024

Knows a lot of details and is real enthusiastic sharing the stories. My only critical note: I would have liked to hear a bit more about the time before the European settlers.Written July 23, 2023

It illuminated our understanding of both the city and restoration projects on the reef. A must do for visitors wanting to enjoy this city.Written November 8, 2022

My husband and I had an amazing time with Georgia on this tour! It was so fun to see Cairns through the lens of the hipster influence. She introduced us to so many cool restaurants, shops and murals that we never would have known about on our own! Georgia has out a lot of time and effort into organizing everything. I'm excited to explore all of the places she showed us now that I'll be living in Cairns for a month. Definitely take the time to go on this tour, it will be a highlight of your trip to Cairns!

We thought we had seen it all after a week in Cairns, but this tour showed us all the hidden gems of hipster life and street art the city has to offer. Our visit became enriched from this experience and we spent the days following going back to places to try more of what we had seen. The tour was great and Georgia made it exciting and fun.

I mean as a local, I knew Cairns was good but now I’ve seen it through a different lense altogether. This tour is brilliant as Georgia’s passion for the history and culture of Cairns shines a whole new light on the city. It really is a wonderful way to spend an hour and a half and for such a great price; accessible for everyone. Hipster or not, you’re going to love the hidden gems that Georgia will reveal to you as you cruise the streets of this beautiful Cairns. Only one negative I need to mention: I just had to go back and spend some money in the new shops and delicious eateries that we popped into!!!!
Loved every minute Georgia! Thank you.

Thank you Emmylouloves for your review. I have been so delighted to hear how this hipster tour is giving locals a new understanding and appreciation of this great city. I am glad you discovered the unique shops where independent retailers are pouring their hearts and creativity in making wonderful experiences, whether it be coffee and amazing food, unique clothing, individually crafted items, and vintage gems. Happy exploring :)

The Hipster Walking Tour was great fun. Tattoo parlours, burger bars, funky shops and cool graffiti. Georgia has lots of fun facts and shows you the hippest places to check out and enjoy in the city. I am a local and loved a closer look at the street art. My parents were visiting and loved seeing Cairns through the lens of a hipster. Highly recommended.

Thank you ellayogi23! I am so glad both you and your parents enjoyed the tour - they really understood the importance of hipster culture by the end...its not just a "look". Glad you discovered places to enjoy in the future.

After the walking tour my wife and I connected to Cairns in way we never would have otherwise. We discovered quaint stores and cool food (think organic, farm to table) places and even got discounts for future purchases. And we had an amazing time with Georgia who is one of the warmest, friendliest beings on the planet.

As a Cairns local, I was a little sceptic to this tour at first, mainly because I could never place my perception of 'hipster' together with Cairns. I ended up absolutely loving the tour, thanks to Georgia's incredibly open, grounded nature which makes anyone feel at home in her company. Georgia herself is one of the hidden gems of this tour, with extensive knowledge of the back alleys of Cairns and what's going on in the city. I learned an incredible amount about the town and was able to discover new sights and hotspots to explore thanks to her.
This city has long deserved this kind of activity, where locals and tourists can meet, where tourists can get to know the city, and where locals can re-discover their hometown. A definite must, for anyone, when in the city.

Thank you AnthroEndeavour! I am so glad you have enjoyed this tour and that you have new hotspots to explore and re-discover in your home town. It is an absolute thrill to see the delight on people's faces during and after the tour. Cairns really is a very cool ("hip") place, increasingly so every day. Thank you again for joining me on this adventure and hope to see you again.

Georgia definitely got the type of energy a person needs in order to run engaging walking tours. With a nerdescé level of knowledge, coupled with the laid back approach that makes Cairns what it is, she provides participants with an engaging and informative tour. A hipster myself, I especially delighted in her theories on localised hipsterness. Only thing missing from the tour was a micro brewery, but apparently those aren't included in the index developed by the 'murican relocation company that places Cairns as hipster spot number two in Straya.

Thank you authentic_af! I loved having an authentic hipster like you on the tour, and your humour is much appreciated! I think you have given me the idea for a new tour....the microbrewery beer. I think there is only one in the city at the moment so we might have it include some other interesting drinking spots with specialty drinks and cool atmosphere. I hope you continue to enjoy the hipster spots in Cairns...there are even more out there not covered by the tour. Enjoy! And might see you on another tour...:)
