During the journey, the crew will review basic snorkeling techniques and help you get suited up for your first snorkel or dive. Arrive at the first stop and, depending on your chosen activity, either head down to the snorkel platforms for easy access to the water or join your scuba instructor for your introductory or certified dive. Guided snorkel excursions are available for beginners or less-confident snorkelers, while dive masters accompany small groups of no more than six people. After working up an appetite in the water, relax on deck while the onboard chef prepares lunch. Then feast on a delicious buffet of hot and cold dishes, including vegetarian options and plenty of salads, fresh fruits, and bread. Cold drinks are available for purchase. Continue to the second dive site, where you’ll have another chance to snorkel or dive. As you explore the vibrant corals of the Great Barrier Reef, look out for exotic marine life such as parrotfish, puffer fish, or clown fish. If you’re lucky, you might even spot a reef shark or sea turtle. If you have any questions about your sightings, all will be answered during a special marine life presentation once you’re back onboard.  After a full day at sea, set sail for Cairns, where your tour ends back at the cruise terminal.

      Phenomenal scuba experience
Visited with a G Adventures tour. From start to finish this experience was exceptional. Staff incredibly knowledgable and helpful. Planned to snorkel, but decided to scuba at both stops instead - the briefing, kitting up and scuba experience for a first timer was incredible. Cannot thank the Dre enough for their insight and sharing the reef with us - thank you!

      Amazing day!
The crew is very friendly. The boat is big enough that you have your space. They took us to 2 magical places and gave us enough time each time to explore. They served us a great lunch and snacks. I was amazed by the chef onboard who really did a great job. A photographer is on board for pictures if you wish. It was a great day and really recommend them.

      Amazing time! Incredible crew!
I took this tour recently along with the option to scuba dive. Phoebe is an absolute angel who helped me the whole time, even if I was clinging on the her for dear life! She made my experience one to remember in a good way, and calmed my nerves throughout. 10/10 would recommend!

The perfect team to make your trip to the barrier reef one to remember
Amazing trip out to the reef with the passions team. Great food, spacious boat, wonderful staff and most importantly great snorkeling locations. I went on a guided trip with Mathilde who was amazing! Diving down to show us giant clams, starfish and all sorts of reef life including a reef shark! I was very anxious at first but she made me feel at ease and really added to my experience. There was also the option to do introductory scuba if you want to give it a try! Loved the coral conservation talk by Russell as well, super interesting and informative. If you aren't sure who to book with.. definitely book with Passions of Paradise. One of the last locally owned boats in Cairns with great reef locations and options for everyone!

      Hastings Reef Snorkelling and Dive
What an amazing day with Skipper Craig at the helm and a well coordinated, friendly and hard working crew. The crew are the key to this exceptional experience. My husband did the introductory dive course and special shout-out to Marco for his professionalism and care and bringing the magic of the reef to Mike. The chef made lunch was delicious. Special shout-out to Levi for his care. I’m really made for land but that did not diminish the day for me . If you are travelling to Cairns and you want to see the reef then look no further than Passions of Paradise , a local family owned company.

      Fantastic Tour! 10/10 would recommend
This tour was fantastic! The 2 snorkeling locations were both beautiful and the boat was comfortable and great to relax and enjoy the ride. The crew were all very friendly and knowledgable and what topped it all off was the marine biologist presentation about the reef on the way home. I feel like I learned a lot and it was very interesting and informative. The ride was a little rocky from the weather but the motion sickness tablets sold on the boat worked very well. I will definitely be recommending this tour to any of my friends and family who visit Cairns. I tried the introductory dive where I felt very safe and got to see so many cool sea creatures and animals both snorkeling and scuba diving.

A crew that takes customer experience to the next level
Outstanding experience. The whole crew are all about making sure every single person has a fantastic experience. The crew are all client focussed and brilliant communicators. They make a safety briefing feel like a really interesting TED talk. The reef is always going to be amazing but this team take the whole experience to the next level. Loved the Eco talk on the way home - pitched perfectly to make it interesting and impactful. Healthy tasty food for all the meals and snacks provided.

      Best experience ever
Best company ever. I had a really great time in my first scuba diving. Starting with very clear safety instructions, delicious food and beautiful workers that made our day fabulous. Specifically our scuba diving instructor, Monse. She helped us a lot and made our our experience better. Highly recommended!

Positive Passions staff made the day!
Long held ambition to see the Great Barrier Reef. Apprehensive as I haven't swum for years and I'm getting on in years. I didn't need to worry... the staff were friendly, informative, helpful but most importantly positive in their attitude towards me seeing the reef. I almost gave up but was told that if I wanted to go they would make happen and they did! Held on to a float, steered by Vanessa who encouraged me and was my guide around the reef. Such a great experience... can't recommend Passions enough for customer service.

Incredible experience in the reef barrier, very attentive staff, information about the reef, it’s nature and how to preserve it, and also delicious food! Big shout out to instructor Monse, who helped us with such patience and attention during our first dive ever.

Amazing snorkelling experience and great crew!
Customer service is terrific! I had booked via a third party company and no issues sorting out changes to dates their end but then when I managed to get hold of Jo at Passions of Paradise, not only was she helpful but she was extremely patient and pleasant to deal with. Thank you Jo, you are a true asset to the team! The day itself was amazing, crew members fantastic. A big shout out to Braden who did the diving brief for first time divers. He was also our dive instructor. I was a little nervous being my first time ever and he was very encouraging and understanding. I had to resurface twice and he was very patient with me. When we were diving, my mask was a little leaky and he gave me the time to clear them and ensured I was ok before we continued. I wasn’t rushed at all and felt totally confident he had my safety and concerns as top priority! I managed to continue the 30 min dive and was extremely grateful to Braden for his patience and expertise! Thank you Braden!! You definitely calmed my nerves! We went out to Milln reef and our second snorkel was at the three sisters. So many different schools of fish, it was an amazing experience! Thank you Passions of Paradise for giving me such an amazing memory to take away!

      INCREDIBLE!!!!
Whatever you do don’t even bother looking at any other GBR tours! If you read any review read this one! I cannot fault a single thing, not one single thing from my tour today. The food was insane (we had satay chicken, salads, sweets and fruit) not to mention the incredible staff that were so knowledgeable, kind, helpful and overall awesome people. The scuba & diving gear was practically new, extremely clean and showed no sign of wear or tear. There is also an underwater photographer on board, we paid $80 AUD for photos for two of us ($40 for one person) and they were insane photos, they also give you reef photos. The boat was so comfortable and clean, once again cannot fault a thing!

Fantastic day of snorkeling spent on Passions of Paradise. Being a non-swimmer I was apprehensive about snorkeling. Our guide, Harry assured me that I would enjoy it and would have fun...and fun it was! Once in the water, Harry was re-assuring and continued asking how I was doing. His knowledge of the Great Barrier Reef was great and he took the time to point out the Marine life (he even dove underwater to take a photo so I could prove to my friends that I did it!). The whole crew was fantastic and their safety checks (to ensure everyone is accounted for after each stop) are impressive. The food was good and the catamaran was fantastic. Lots of room to lounge, tan or just relax.
Any trip trip to Great Barrier Reef should be booked with Passions of Paradise to support this locally owned/operated business.

I have wanted to dive the Barrier Reef for years and today really did live up to my expectations. I thought there was plenty of time to explore underwater... I was worried I wouldn't be able to do the try scuba and snorkel but I got to do both twice and didn't feel rushed. Yay! The team on board worked like clockwork to get us all sorted out with minimal wait times to get us in the water. Shout out to Remy my dive master, was awesome being able to swim around on my own (second try dive), and Russel who did his marine presentation a second time just for me and one other lady who couldn't stay down below because we felt a bit sick, legend!
Would recommend these guys 100% because we got plenty of water time, felt safe at all times, lunch was delicious and also got waited on for tea and coffee (was not expecting that!)

We really enjoyed our trip a couple of weeks ago. The staff were so friendly and genuinely enjoy their work and aim to please their customers. I've been on similar cruises both in Australia and overseas where you really feel you're just a source of income to the company. We visited during Covid so numbers on the boat were reduced, but we just found all of the crew were friendly, personable, fun (even the PA announcements!), and very safety oriented. I'm not sure what the staff-passenger ratio would normally be like (i.e. in non-Covid times) but we were honestly blown away by the staff.
Plenty of space on the boat, great lunch including plenty of vegetarian options (it didn't taste like mass-produced food at all), good tips from crew on snorkeling (saw a turtle!), drinks from bar reasonably priced, talk from Russell on the way back was informative and entertaining.
Heaps of shade inside if you need, also lots of space in the sun if you'd prefer.

It's difficult to choose a company when there are so many, but we really couldn't fault Passions at all and were so glad with the choice we made. Would highly recommend and wouldn't hesitate to go with them again.

I was bought up to say nothing if you don't have anything good to say. In this case i feel I should share my story. After years of travelling and doing tours. I have never been so disappointed by a tour operator before. I understand that the weather and the conditions were a bit rough and rainy and may not of been the best time to take my wife to Cairns to snorkel and I understand the staff and crew are busy trying to attend to 70+ guests on the tour. I spoke with one of the staff about transferring the date of the tour because of the weather and conditions and they assure me that the crew would assist my wife with the snorkeling. I understand that my wife is not a very good swimmer, English is not her first language and her snorkel kept filling up with water because of the rough conditions. i don't understand why one of the crew belittled my wife in front of her fellow crew members and passengers because of her ability to swim, understanding of English and the snorkel filling with water. Surely my wife is not the first customer they have had to help see the reef in these conditions. All the crew member had to do was speak slowly and calmly to her so she understood. You are meant to be professionals.

My memory of the day for life. Since the crew were going to assist my wife snorkeling and teacher her. She told me to go snorkel so i could enjoy tour and at the next snorkel place we would go together. Upon leaving my wife on the back platform of the catamaran to go into the water, i remember looking back to see her over excited smiling face filled with happiness to be going in the water to see the reef for the first time that she forgot to spray her mask with anti fog. When i got back, she was bundle of tears saying that she is never going back into the water and it hurt me to see my wife like that. I asked her what had happened and she told me that the crew member yelled at her for not kicking her legs properly and taking the mask off. My wife said sorry me because she couldn't understand the crew member yelling at her and was embarrassed about what happened. I tried to find the crew member to inquire what had happened and was unable to find her.
To end on a positive note. The next day we told another trip, this time with Silver Swift. My wife got in water and snorkeled.

Hi Paul, Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. This is very unsettling to hear as we are in the business of creating lifelong happy memories for our passengers and we pride ourselves on our exceptional service. The conditions on the day were challenging and this can make it very difficult for our snorkel guides to communicate in the water. If we had known your wife was upset we would have done everything in our power to ensure that she had an amazing second experience in the water. Our skipper and trip director are available throughout the day and they would have certainly made arrangements for your wife, or the three of you together, to have a one on one experience if they had been made aware of a problem. We always do everything in our power to ensure we offer a fantastic experience from start to finish so we do regret that we didn’t meet your expectations. If you wish to discuss this further we welcome you to contact us directly. Kind regards, Scotty

From the moment you board the boat to when you disembark, the trip is a life time experience. The trip out to the reef takes 2 hours, but the time seems to fly by so quickly. The staff are amazing. You laugh out loud listening to the safety brief, but you understand the serious side behind it. You can snorkel free of charge and for a fee (not over the top) you can have a go at scuba diving.
The staff on Passions is what sets this day tour apart from others. They care about your safety and well being whilst injecting a little humour. They never tire of the many questions being asked about the reef. The buffet lunch is included in the day tour and it is very delicious plus you also get afternoon tea on the way home. The galley can cater for various dietary concerns, provided they are advised in advance. Once you are out on the Reef, it is magical. If you are lucky you will get to see turtles and the most colourful fish life there is. It was lovely to see the colourful coral formations as well. There has been so much negative press about the coral, you need to go and see just how good it is for yourself. If you are looking for a day trip to the Great Barrier Reef you cannot go past Passions of Paradise.

What could you say that would do justice to such an incredibly fun day. The staff all genuinely care that you’re having a good time, and continue throughout the day to make sure that you feel comfortable and informed. The reef is beautiful and you can basically just swim around on your own or with staff and explore till your hearts content. The catamaran is high quality and there is lots of places to sit and relax and enjoy the water. Music is pumping and the drinks kept coming which makes the energy of the day up high until you finish the day.

A huge shout out for Simon (kiwi) who was really kind and thoughtful and offered us food and drink throughout the day. Another shout out to remy who was a good laugh and also made sure everyone was excited about diving.

We saw a turtle up close on our snorkel which was amazing, but it’s nothing on the huge whale that we saw on the way back into the marina.

10/10 would do again, will make sure to do the diving next time!

We did a tour with Passions a couple of weeks ago. I cannot recommend this company more!! From the moment we walked on the boat, the staff was friendly, so professional, great at communicating and leading, and present with anyone's needs. Multiple staff members started conversations with me, just out of curiosity to know me. They all radiate positivity and it is obvious they enjoy their work, have incredible passion for what they do, and then are able to demonstrate that and lead a dive with ease and excellence. There was s chef on board and the food was amazing! Kristy (dive master) also offered an hour long talk about the reef. I was so impressed with her level of knowledge and ability to answer questions in a thoughtful manner. As for the sights, they took us to two really beautiful dive sights, and we were able to see sharks, rays, and tons of beautiful aquatic life and coral. I highly recommend Passions as the tour you choose for any dive or snorkel! Everything was outstanding, and exceeded my expectations.

This was a wonderful and exciting Trip. The crew was wonderful and performed multiple safety checks .They took
The time to communicate with everyone on board and attend to their needs. They made a delicious lunch with lots of extras . There was lots of water and coffee. The boat was super clean and the staff was flawless.
KATE delivered a super presentation on the Reef and wild life and even the rain Forest. We all learned a lot from this trip. A shout-out to NEISHA who was behind the counter and doing multiple tasks. Yet she made time to have a conversation. We were blown away by trip and friendliness
    Of this staff !

Wonderful experience. The dives were great. The food and presentation after the dives were good. Make sure that you apply and reapply sunblock to the backs of your legs. Our phone camera (Pixel 3) did not work well in the plastic case thing - I would recommend renting a real waterproof camera.

We had a great tour of the reef today with Passions. It was terrible rain leaving Cairns and yet everyone’s attitude about the day ahead was so positive and upbeat. We visited two great reef sites at Hastings Reef and despite the weather the snorkelling was excellent. The lunch was so good too, with multiple cold salad options and two hot dish choices. A great addition to the day was the talk on the way back to Cairns by Lea who gave an informative presentation on coral and marine life. This was also the first time we discovered that Passions is one of the last locally owned tour companies and about how much they contribute towards saving the reef with their donations to conservationists as well as planting new coral. For this reason alone I recommend choosing Passions but everything else about the tour was so well organised that you just can’t go wrong! Another crew member worth highlighting was Simon - he actively walked around checking everyone was feeling ok (from sea sickness) and he was so so helpful and approachable.
