The sites offer excellent wall dives, swim-throughs and overhangs, great for both novice and experienced divers. you can expect to see an abundance of fish species, hard corals such as staghorn, table, plate and boulder coral, and many species of soft corals. Your day begins as you board the boat at Marlin Wharf. The ultra modern 29 meter catamaran will be your base for the day. Throughout the day you'll visit three different locations which may include Thetford, Milln and Flynn Reef. Each stop showcases a different aspect of the beautiful Great Barrier Reef. At each site you have the choice to snorkel, dive or a combination of both. If you have never tried scuba diving you can choose to do one or two introductory dives, or you may prefer to stick to snorkeling and explore all three sites from the surface. A crew member will take those interested on a guided snorkel tour at one of the reef locations. Certified divers can choose to partake in up to three certified dives. Whatever you choose, your Outer Great Barrier Reef Dive and Snorkel Cruise includes up to five hours in the water. The friendly crew will be happy to answer any questions you have throughout the day. Great Day
Had a flawless day out diving and snorkelling the reef out of Cairns. Professional staff cater for all skills levels and experience, great food!, and comfortable vessel.

Don’t come to Cairns without visiting the reef. Even snorkelling out there is often sensory overload.

Great day on the reef
We had three snorkels at different locations within Flynn Reef. Each was a little different. Whilst the coral was patchy there were loads of fish to see. We also saw turtles, giant clams and reef sharks. We also spotted a pod of dolphins off in the distance. The boat isn't as large as some of the others but was very comfortable, although there wasn't a lot of seating outdoors. Everything was well managed and the food was good and plentiful. There are fresh water showers & change rooms, both of which were handy to have.

So much to see in reef
Jun 2021
We had a great day out, staff great and plenty to each and drink. On time and plenty of informing and guidelines while on boat. All equipment excellent and clean ship and enough room for sitting etc. my only issue was it was difficult to hear instructions, especially out the back, l have perfect hearing and struggled to hear what was being said, so l think either a video or loudspeaker especially if you are standing at the back, even inside his voice was low at times and was not able to be heard. This can be dangerous or cause issues with some people. The first stop was not as good as hoped as not a lot of fish or interesting sea coral etc. third snorkel was the best and though choppy was so interesting and full of different fish, take two towels and easy change of clothes for in between dives as you have to sit for lunch and not in wet clothes.staff were wonderful

Lovely day for the entire family
Excellent day out on the outer reef. It was rough getting out there so I was glad the entire family took sea sickness tablets beforehand. But once we arrived, the conditions were calm being surrounded by the Barrier Reef. There was 11 of us in total including 5 children. We all had a fantastic day. 3 of us dived, lovely coral and fish, turtles and a reef shark to see at the 3 dive sites. The rest of the group snorkeled and it was still excellent with lovely fish and coral to see. Lots of food and drinks served so there was no need to bring anything except a towel and swimmers!

Absolutely fantastic!!
Absolutely loved our experience with these guys, everyone was supper friendly and ensured the safety of everyone. We took our 9yr old neice and she was treated wonderfully. The reefs were breathtaking and we saw so much. Lunch was great, it was a meat curry, rice, vegetarian hot dish and then there were cold meats, salads, fruits as well as cakes for morning and afternoon tea. We cannot recommend these guys enough!!!

Well organized and professional day trip to the reef!
I have dived off the reef on two previous trips, but this dive trip was by far my best experience. The boat is quite fast and we arrived at the first dive site in just over an hour. I have my PADI qualification but am only an occasional diver, so was grateful for the supportive dive master Nori who managed our group of five divers. He seemed to intuitively head off any issues in advance, which put me at ease and made the dive experience much better. For example, I had pain in one of my ears going down, and he spent several minutes with me helping me sort it out. On the dive itself, he pointed out turtles, sharks, a ray, lots of clownfish “Nemos”, and some incredibly huge giant clams. We also swam through some undersea passageways which was really cool. Back on board, we were served morning tea and a substantial and tasty lunch—far better food than I remember from other outings. All staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, I found this experience more professional than others and would highly recommend it.

Scuba with Silver Swift- Just Do It !
Had a great dive with the Silver Swift crew yesterday, very professional and extremely safe. I am an experienced scuba diver and did 3 dives with these guys & gals and I was very impressed. I have dived with other companies at this level in Cairns and in other Qld areas, the Silver Swift team are a cut above. I will certainly be back. Big thanks to Kenji who is a great dive master, silver service from the get go, and the food was awesome to boot. Thank you Team Silver Swift.

Sad experience of the GBR
Myself and my partner booked with Silverswift after being recommended by Pro dive company.

I cannot describe how much I love the Australian wildlife and having watched so many documentaries about the GBR it has always been on my number one places in the world I have to see.

I understand how precious the GBR is, and how we have to protect it.

It was with great sadness that we went on the boat today.

I was heartbroken to be in a group of 5 other divers that repeatedly kicked and broke the coral. There were parts of the dive going through coral tunnels that were outside of our skills myself included which lead to again coral being hit by tanks, made me feel so uncomfortable under the water.

After the second dive I witnessed a man just off the back of the boat where all the oxygen tanks are smoking in the sea. Hands free. Above the coral reef where we had just been diving surrounded by snorkelers. I desperately looked around to get the attention of a staff member as it was clearly stated earlier that there is no smoking aboard the boat until we arrive back in Cairns. The staff member simply laughed and found the situation amusing.

The actual dives were very poorly organised, I didn't even know what the reef was called until after when writing up our log books (Flynn reef).

I surfaced on both dives with 140 in mine and my partner's tank.

This very much felt like a money maker, without care and consideration to the fact we are diving and one of the most vulnerable prescious reefs in the world.

This trip will be a trip I never forget, but not for how beautiful and magical but for whitnessing the coral being stood on and scraped against. Moreover the instructor gave no care and the staff aboard were evidently the same.

It is very disappointing to see your review, especially noting you joined Trip Advisor with the purpose to post this. Our staff who were on the vessel on the day were very dismayed also and would have been very keen to have had the opportunity to address your concerns directly, none of which you or your partner raised. However please be assured your comments have been investigated. We take our responsibilities regarding the environment very seriously, which is one of the reasons we only conduct guided certified dives, with all dive staff being qualified PADI dive instructors. Your group of five was made up of certified divers, none of whom had logged less than 18 post-certification dives. We offer guided certified diving as a means of ensuring you see the best of what a particular site has to offer i.e. giant clams, anemones etc. At every dive site, a dive briefing is conducted where the reef name, site name and pertinent information regarding that particular site is delivered; these were conducted at each of the 3 sites on the day. At the “swim through” site, it was mentioned by your instructor during the site briefing and he encouraged anyone with concerns or who was uncomfortable about going through a swim through (roughly 2 metres long and the height of a doorway) to discuss with him. No one mentioned any concerns to him, including yourself. The instructor did deal with one diver in your group who had buoyancy issues, but no one including yourself raised any concerns at any stage throughout the day about the behaviour of other divers or that they had seen divers who ”repeatedly kicked and broke coral”. We had several other groups in the water at each site also led by qualified PADI instructors who would have raised this with your instructor had they witnessed any inappropriate behaviour or diver impacts. Regarding the man smoking in the sea, whilst very unusual (and desperate), it should be noted that he carried a bag for ash and his used butt, and that the tanks you refer to are SCUBA tanks filled with air, not oxygen tanks. We wish you all the best in your future diving endeavours.

Expert guidance and excellent service
Phenomenal three dives with Nori. I had done a refresher a month before heading along and Nori, as with all staff, was polite and helpful. He was an attentive, skilful and generous dive guide and was always there the second I struggled to get my arm out of the stinger suit! His guidance on weighting was spot on, resulting in three of my favourite dives ever filled with memorable sightings of turtles, sharks, rays and incredible fish. Highly recommended.
