Excellent small group tour with a great guide
We booked the Daintree and Cape Tribulation tour. Being a relatively small group we had plenty of time at the Daintree including the Daintree river cruise, lunch, ice cream and then visiting the Thornton Beach which was the substitute for Cape Tribulation due to the roads still being under repair. We ended with a visit to Mossman Gorge where we had time for a swim. Steve was brilliant as the driver and tour guide. He had great passion for the outdoors and Far North Queensland and his enthusiasm was unabated despite what was a really long day for him! Highly recommended.

Not worth going through Discovery Sustralia to book the Port Douglas tour. Could have done a better job myself.
Early flight arrived at Cairns no meet and greet. At resort 10.45 super tired. Found out resort 5 km out of town. No restaurants, cafes or shopping nearby. Could not enter my accomodation before 3 pm. No pick up and drop of to reef cruise. Needed to book a taxi as too early for public transport and too far to walk. Booked a small tour package deal but found out it was me, myself and I. Worst organised trip ever.

        Definitely recommend
Steve really made the tour more interesting thanks to his cheerful attitude and knowledge on so many aspects (history, plants, animals, etc) Definitely recommend if you want to see the Daintree forest and are short in time. Going in a small group is also so much better

        A great day!
Jim/James kept us educated and entertained the whole day. Everything ran smoothly - from pick up at the scheduled time to drop off. The Mercedes Sprinter van was air conditioned and comfortable and handled the road and any bumps well. Mossman Gorge, the suspension bridge and morning tea were our first stop. A couple of our group dared a quick swim. The Daintree Teahouse provided a lovely lunch with a dozen different fruits to sample. We enjoyed the cruise along the Daintree River where we spotted 2 female crocodiles and also saw some of the destruction left by the cyclone in December. Next was a quick stop for ice-cream as we kept heading north. From there the tour would usually go a little further to Cape Tribulation, however the cyclone has caused so much damage to the roads the end of the line for us was beautiful Thornton Beach, followed by the long journey back to Cairns. Thanks to Jim/James for a great day!!

        Good knowledgeable tour
Good tour with a knowledgeable guide. Good lunch stop too. Stops and sights were easy to get to. Only minor issue was it would have been good to hear with more than one day's notice that Cape Tribulation we could not do on tour due to past weather damage. However this did not spoil the tour for me and just means I need to visit again.

Fantastic day and highly recommend. Our guide could not have done anymore for us. We were in a group of 16 in total and didn’t feel just a number. We enjoyed a fantastic lunch and learned so much en route to each of the locations

A lot of time in a bus.
Today we did the Daintree Rainforest tour. The highlight was our driver/guide called Mario who was charming and knowledgeable. The downside was that it felt like we spent most of the day in the bus. We probably went an hour out of our way for 15 minutes on Cow Bay beach and a stop for the worst ice cream in Queensland. It would have been so much better to spend more time at Mossman Gorge. Wouldn't do it again or recommend it.

Very good experience, very good driver, route, mini bus, unfortunately it was raining and the cape Tribulation access was closed.

        Rain in the rainforest
Hats off to our tour guide Carsten, who really tried his best to make a great day out of a very rainy one. We visited in March from Cairns and we woke up to TORRENTIAL downpour. I called the operator number and they confirmed we were still a go. We were promptly picked up and the morning was relatively smooth. The viewpoints were a bit tough because of the rain. The morning tea was lovely. Unfortunately, the crocodile ride was cancelled because the boat captain could not get to the tour spot. Plus the river was super high and super fast so probably would not have been safe … also lots of silt in the water so no crocodiles would have been visible anyways. The roads were under a lot of construction. There were many lights to direct traffic one way at a time because the roads were reduced to one lane. This is all because of a recent cyclone in December 2023. Lunch was very nice. The cultural center was the best part. The gents were able to organize a lesson / sharing from a local Elder to help compensate for all the weather caused mishaps - which was very considerate. I was personally really enthusiastic about swimming in the gorge based on other reviews but again with the rain and river rising and fast water - it was just not safe. Now the reason I have four stars was because of the price. Recognizing the weather mishaps were absolutely not within the control of the company, I really tried to think about the tour if it had had perfect weather and what not. Even if everything had been perfect. It is a tour that is definitely on the higher side. Now what is worth the price tag … well, if everything had been perfect with lots of sunshine and crocodiles and swimming in the gorge … maybe. So for others. Just be mindful that the itinerary is based on a perfect weather day and after all - you are in the rainforest ! This is not to take away from again - our very kind host Carsten, he really worked hard and always had a big smile on his face - which really helped with the rain and the mud haha Thank you !

        Great family holiday!
We spent a week in Port Douglas and had an amazing family holiday. We stayed at "By The Sea" which was right next to Four Mile Beach and still close handy to the main street of Port Douglas. Day trips to Mossman Gorge, Hartleys Crocodile Farm and a day of snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef were highlights! Do yourself and your family a favour and spend a week in an amazing part of Australia

A fantastic way to see is part of the world.
A very beautiful & interesting part of the world, my visit came a few months after a horrendous weather front. But our guide made the day and wonderful visit. My favourite part was our swim in a spot out of a travel magazine.

        No Disappointments here.
A delightful excursion which included stops for refreshments. It was well paced and the seasoned guide anticipated questions. This Discovery Tour was well worth the time and money. The tour guide, Darrel, was simply fantastic.

We had the half day tour in the afternoon with our Guide Steve. We enjoyed the option to start at 1 pm, so we were able to start the day very relaxed. Luckily we were the only guests at this tour and so it was very personal. The tour was also very flexible: As we already saw the Barron falls from the skyrail, Steve took us to some other secret places in the rainforest and gave us lots of interesting information. What's really special about this tour, is that you're far away from all the full touristic places that are around Cairns. So if you want to see and learn about the true nature of this region, this tour is the right thing to do.
We also had the chance to take a little swim in a rock pool above a waterfall.
Steve was a perfect guide, very informative, interested and entertaining - so the 5 hours (in fact it was 5,5) were over much too fast.
Thanks for having us and we can highly recommend to do this tour!

The guide was an expert on the ecology of the rainforest and the dry bush and the difference between the different areas. Obviously with the bushfires in New South Wales and Victoria there was an emphasis on environmental management which was interesting. Whilst the guide was very smart I didn't book the tour thinking that I would be given an education. I was hoping for something a bit more entertaining so if that is what you are looking for this is not the tour for you. The limited activity is a problem as the advertising suggests that you will go swimming and walk around the rain forest (we did this for around 5 minutes). We were not offered the opportunity to swim which was disappointing as it was one of the main reasons we booked this tour.

We had so much fun!! We came to Cairns for the snorkeling and booked this at the last minute when we had a free afternoon. We didn’t have high expectations but this ended up being the highlight of our trip! Absolutely breathtaking views and our guide, James/Jim, was the BEST!! He was so much fun and very informative. We learned a ton from him and he really made the tour so awesome. You can tell he genuinely loves his job. We all loved him!! Highly recommend this trip.

Guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about the environment sometimes this tipped from education to hectoring but understandable given some of the things he told us. The tour was done after a long shortage of rain and that meant the rainforest and waterfalls were dryer than normal but that is nature. We were even prevented completing one section due to a collapsed tree. If you want a small group tour with a guide that really knows nature this is the tour for you. Glad we did it

Our guide Mick picked us on his Land Rover up on the dot for a 4-hour 4W Drive tour in the afternoon. Very knowledgable, friendly and even engaged well with my teenage daughter (who's extremely quiet) and 9 yo son who is very chatty but Mick answered all his questions patiently. We've taken a picturesque view of Barron Falls before going off-road. We explored huge termite mounds with lots of insightful commentary by Mick. We drove over streams, visited the famous Clohesy River Fig Tree then stopped by a creek to just get our feet wet. Then we headed to Termite Fruit Vegies to sample an amazing array of local fruits. We bought honey, custard apple (super tasty) and freshly roasted Macadamia (you must try). This 4-hour tour makes me want to return this little paradise.

A great memorable day full of adventure & information.
Steve our driver was a wealth of knowledge. We drove along dirt tracks through flowing rivers & creeks, stopping along the way to see various trees, ferns & the giant Clohsey strangler fig.
Steve told lots of stories, explained simply & answered everyone’s questions.
We followed the beautiful Davies Creek, then had a short walk to view the falls from the best viewing point, a real treat.
After this we stopped at the most beautiful, tranquil camping spot by the river for afternoon tea.
Thanks Steve for a great tour, lots of laughs & nice safe driving.

We did this tour with Steve and 4 other people. Steve showed us the rainforest spread across Cairns and it’s various unique characteristics. He showed us places in the forest away from the tourist crowd. It was a half day tour but worth spending the time. We really enjoyed the flora and fauna of Cairns wet tropics. Steve also arranged a small coffee break right in the middle of the forest at a very surreal location. We also went for Platypus spotting in the nearby creek, unfortunately couldn’t spot the platypus but the location was serene. Overall I would highly recommend this tour. Thank you Steve for the great tour.

My driver was Carsten on November 11, 2018. He is an asset to your company. He is so pleasant and has so much knowledge of the environment. He also impressed me as he is concerned about the environment and its future. It just takes one person at a time! There was one other person on the Sunday morning tour. We both learned a lot and had a great morning. I highly recommend this tour for people who don't want to spend a whole day touring. Just the right amount of time leaving your afternoon free. I was actually traveling with a large tour group and enjoyed getting away on the smaller vehicle tour versus another tour bus!
