- 735teenaw0 contributionsGreat Day!We only had 3 days in Darwin and really wanted to see Kakadu. This seemed like a great option. Jordan was our pilot. He was informative and enjoyable to spend the day with. We had an early start from Darwin, and flew to Katherine with sights pointed out from above. In Katherine we took a taxi to Katherine Helicopters where we got a thrilling helicopter tour of Katherine Gorge. Our pilot was a wealth of information, and seeing the gorge from that perspective was awesome. We then flew to Cooinda, and Jordan was able to point out Twin Falls and Jim Jim Falls. Very little water as it is dry season, but great to see these places. In Cooinda we had a look around before boarding the yellow water cruise. We enjoyed the cruise and saw lots of crocs and wetland birds. After the cruise we had an enjoyable lunch in Cooinda Lodge and then flew back to Darwin feeling like rockstars. We had a great day. The folks at Kookaburra Air have a well organized plan and Jordan was an absolute delight.Written October 16, 2024
- ging4660 contributionsFabulous: Kakadu National Park Scenic Flight & Yellow Water CruiseHad a wonderful day out flying to Kakadu with our pilot Jordan. We flew over Kakadu and landed at Cooinda Resort where we then did the Yellow Water cruise and saw many crocodiles and birds. Seeing this land from the air was just wonderful. Highly recommended.Written September 12, 2024

- damienw9350 contributionsA great way to see a large spanse of the Northern Territory. Worth every dollar! Spectacular day out. Highly recommend.Amazing views from the air across a great expanse of the Northern Territory all seen in a day! Spectacular scenery and great commentary along the way from Austin my very knowledgeable Kookaburra Air pilot. Views of Darwin and surrounds from the moment you take off, fly over the Stuart Highway and see the old telegraph carriage lines alongside, see many avocado and mango plantations as you head south, the abandoned gold mines full of water that surround Pine Creek, the changes in the landscape as you see Nitmiluk National Park prior to descent in to Katherine. A short ride from the airport to the Helicopter and a very memorable flight over Nitmiluk National Park heading to Katherine Gorge. From the air you get a perspective of the size and scale of the area. A view of the Gorge from the water as well would have been perfect but was not part of the tour. Back to the plane for a flight over Nitmiluk National Park and Kakadu National Park en route to Cooinda and the Kakadu Yellow Waters Cruise. Great views of Jim Jim Creek and South Alligator River on the descent in to Cooinda. Being the dry season in July, there were plenty of crocodiles and lots of bird life to see on the cruise. Simply spectacular scenery is all I can say. Following the cruise, I decided to grab a bite to eat at Cooinda Lodge prior to the return flight to Darwin. Austin recommended the Beef Burger and it didn't disappoint. The flight back to Darwin provided vistas over the Mary and Adelaide Rivers and stunning afternoon views of Darwin. Thanks to Austin and Kookaburra Air for a sensational tour! I would do it again in a heartbeat to see the scenery in the wet season. Highly recommend!Written July 22, 2024
- dstewar900 contributionsFantastic morning seeing Kakadu by air with Kookaburra AirFantastic morning with Matt, flew low so we got a great view of the landscape. Great to fly over places we had seen from the ground (especially the view of the “crocodile hotel” in Jabiru. Highly recommend.Written May 23, 2024
- 825glenh0 contributionsWhy let only the birds enjoy the view?Had a brilliant day with Captain "Air" Jordan. Sunrise from the air over Darwin was amazing and the day just kept getting better. The helicopter ride above the Katherine Gorge gives a spectacular perspective of the size and beauty not able to be truly appreciated by land. The cruise provides an up close experience of the Gorge. If you only have a short time in the Top End, treat yourself to an unforgettable day.Written May 2, 2024

- 715anned0 contributionsBest way to see KakaduWe had the most magic day. Beyond expectations. Austin was or pilot for the day and Matthew, the co, we got 2 guys for the price of 1. So informative showing the rivers and sites over to Yellow river, all at 3000+ feet. Great tour on the river, lots of crocks, birds and beautiful plant life. Home in 40 minutes at 8000+ feet. Thanks guys for a fabulous day. The only way to fly 😊Written September 15, 2023
- MadamJosephine0 contributionsWonderful way to see Kakadu and surrounds by airFour of us arrived at 8.00am and were airborne by 8.30am in a 6 seater plane with two pilots Austin and Matthew, so it was a really a private trip. We flew at low level (3500 feet) over the Mary, Adelaide, and all the Alligator rivers, marvelling at their twists and turns before circling the Jabiru Uranium mine and landing at Cooinda airstrip, having had 2 hours in the air. Seeing the extent of the Kakadu escarpment from the air was wonderful too. On arrival we had very good coffee's at the Lodge (own expense) before going on the 90 minute Yellow Waters cruise, seeing lots of small crocodiles and lovely birds. We then had a quick lunch back at the Lodge at our own expense before the less than 1 hour flight home. The pilots were knowledgeable and sought higher altitudes when the flight got a bit bumpy and uncomfortable. Visibility was great each person has their own section of window. We were anxious to get back to Darwin asap and the pilots obliged. My only issue was that we back seat passengers could hear the commentary but couldn't ask questions through the headset.Written September 14, 2023
- Bether6130 contributionsDon’t miss this!I had a fantastic day with this company. I’ve never been in a small plane like that and I was a little nervous and the pilot made me feel very safe and comfortable. I also enjoyed the river cruise more than I thought. Great commentary and lots of wildlife! This trip made me want to return to Darwin.Written September 12, 2023
