Great walking tour with a very knowledgeable and passionate guide
Very much enjoyed our walking tour of Darwin with John who has lots of knowledge of (and is passionate about) Darwin and it's association with the war. We learnt so much and found it all very interesting. Gained a new appreciation of Darwins involvement in the Australian military. The walk itself is not too strenuous and there were plenty of pauses along the way.

    Informative and fun
Fabulous guide. Robin (as a local) has a wonderful knowledge of the history of Darwin. You will hear quirky, informative and interesting facts. It's given a much broader perspective and appreciation of Darwin and it's residents both past and present.

    Amazing
Guided walking tour with a very knowledgable, funny and accessible guide. He knows all kinds of stories about Darwin! We would have done the other tours with John as well, had we had a few more days here.

    Insightful walk around the city
Leisurely and informative walk around the city centre learning about the varied aspects of Darwins history to present day - indigenous history, European settlement, WWII bombing, cyclone Tracy through to the present day of life in multicultural Darwin and the Territory.

    Fabulous day with Robyn
Walked to the centre of town to meet Robyn our walking tour guide. It was just us two which was perfect. We felt very relaxed all day, despite the heat which saps my energy. Robyn talked about history, buildings, Aboriginal people and more. It was a very enjoyable experience.

Robin was very gracious & very knowledgeable. She took her time answering our questions & explaining particularly the history of Darwin & the Northern Territories. We definitely recommend this walking tour.

    Passionate locals knowledge - PRICELESS!
Highly recommend 🤗💕. John is a local who is passionate in sharing the little Hidden Gems of Darwin most I had just walked by. I did two tours with John & his passion never wavered. He took the time to find out my interests (& all group members) & incorporated as much as he could in the short time. What wasn’t covered John gave easy to follow instructions for us to go back & find in our own time, which I did & really appreciated his advice. I loved both tours and would do more if I had time. I highly recommend Walk Darwin Tours. Thank you so much John; very much appreciated.

Great couple of hours to spend to get an insight into Darwin
John was great, he was very knowledgeable and his funny tangents took us not just across history but also the local community, the economy, characters of the area and culture. We saw lots of things we’d otherwise have walked past and a great mix of scenery.

A great intro to the city of Darwin
As a total newbie to Darwin with only limited knowledge about specific historical events, this was a great introduction to the city and it's history. Our guide John obviously has great affection for Darwin, and was friendly and knowledgeable, and presented the city's history in an interesting way.

    Awesome
Heritage city tour. John is very easy-going and spritely. We'd walked through town the day before and today he uncovered so much context and interesting history that we'd completely missed, worth every minute!

    Walking tour a highlight
John’s walking tour was a highlight of our visit to Darwin so far. We learned so much and got good pointers on what else to do. John was a great guide - a really decent fellow, but also affable and interesting.

John was a great guide that was very informative. The tour gave us an overall understanding of Darwin’s war and cyclone history. We came away feeling we knew more about Darwin. A great 2 hour tour!

We are happy that you enjoyed your walk with us. There is a lot to see in a fairly small town that has had such a destructive past. John really enjoys telling the tales of our city and your review shows that we are still on the right track. Wish we could clone John.

We had very little knowledge of what happened in Darwin during the war, our guide was very thorough in giving us so much information and we left feeling like we had learned a lot. Thank you

Excellent! The team at Walk Darwin is pleased to read that you learned a lot in the 2 hours of our WWII Reflections walk. There is much to see and hear about from war time, isn't there? Thank you for taking a moment to share your experience with others.

Best of all, this tour is early enough to not suffer from the heat! I would recommend it, it was interesting and informative. I would do a walk with John again if I find myself in Darwin in the future.

On a hot march afternoon, John met us promptly and gave us an interesting, varied, and knowledgeable walk through the dark days that engulfed WWII Darwin. We trekked past surviving buildings of the Feb. 1942 Japanese air raid that marked the start of repeated attacks against this important military port and city. John kept us in the shade, stopped periodically in air-conditioned buildings, and made sure we were comfortable throughout the two-hour walk. We visited the historic waterfront, learned about the aftermath of the attacks, and how Darwin honors those who fell even today. John also advised on easy transportation back to our ship--he went above and beyond. Highly recommended tour with an enthusiastic local historian. Thank you!

Sure the pools and the markets and the food are all great but Darwin has something else to offer - a totally fascinating history. And in the hands of John, our walking tour guide, Darwin's history comes to life over two extremely enjoyable hours, full of great stories as we stop off at key locations around the CBD and harbour area. I totally loved it, and my 12-year-old son was also captivated by the experience. Personally I found it added a lot to our time in Darwin. Many thanks to John, I could not recommend this highly enough. Matt and Henry
