- jillt9600 contributionsFascinating Insight to these wonderful GardensRobin led us on a 2 hour walking tour introducing us to the Botanic Gardens. She was very informative and absolutely delightful. She shared lots of interesting tales and experiences and certainly knew her plants! It was a hot afternoon so we kept to the shade but we will definitely be back to explore more.Written September 29, 2024
- N2125TGkathrynb0 contributionsGreat walking tour with a very knowledgeable and passionate guideVery much enjoyed our walking tour of Darwin with John who has lots of knowledge of (and is passionate about) Darwin and it's association with the war. We learnt so much and found it all very interesting. Gained a new appreciation of Darwins involvement in the Australian military. The walk itself is not too strenuous and there were plenty of pauses along the way.Written August 22, 2024

- Lolabout0 contributionsGood pace and informativeA really informative tour at just the right pace to absorb everything. The walking was at a gentle pace with lots of stops. Our guide, John, really loves Darwin and has spent many years researching the area so he was able to answer all of our questions. The tour was just the right length and we were able to get our bearings to guide the rest of our visit.Written June 13, 2023
- Kellie M0 contributionsLovely Tour with a knowledgeable and engaging guide! We loved our walking tour. John was extremely knowledgeable and engaging. It was nice learning new things about Darwin, whilst learning of it's huge history - that realistically shaped Australia, without a lot of Australians ever knowing! Would highly recommend this tour, and I look forward to joining another tour when I'm back in Darwin!Written March 27, 2023

- YogaSandy0 contributionsExcellent Introduction to DarwinWe had an excellent walking tour with John on The Hidden Secrets of Darwin Walk. It served as a great orientation to the city centre with the highlight being an introduction to the many pieces of street art dotted around Darwin. - Peter M0 contributionsBeyond Darwin W.W.11- A Tour with a DifferenceThis full day tour provides a different and unique opportunity to see the impact that Feb.19th 1942 (The Bombing of Darwin) had on Australia’s subsequent military operations and defence of its own territory. John’s knowledgeable commentary, through years of experience in the tourism industry was informative, interactive and downright bloody entertaining. A highly recommended tour!Written September 6, 2022
- Marla_560 contributionsAn excellent tour. Was a great day. John was friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. Seeing places with WW2 history not open to the general public was very interesting. The visit to the Adelaide River War Cemetary was very moving. Such a beautiful resting place for our fallen heroes. RIP. Lunch was very enjoyable, and being in a small group was nice too.Written September 6, 2022
- 191lynettei0 contributionsExcellent tour of the beaten trackWow! This is an excellent tour taking about 8 hours to complete. It is of particular interest to those Australians who had relatives serving in the Darwin region. John is an excellent tour guide who knew the answer to ever question, drove in a relaxed way, and brought delicious morning tea and paninis for lunch. Visiting Jan’s property which encompasses Pell camp and engineering and technical support stations was special because she has collect memorabilia over the years and also knew much of the history. I highly recommend this tourWritten September 5, 2022
- Mareeb230 contributionsGreat artWe did the Wander Darwin Walls Walk in August, I want to say thanks to the team who managed to move our original booking so my best friend & I didn't miss out. The arts on the walls are fantastic - some are interactive. Download the app to get the full experience. Our guide was good and very understanding when we weren't able to complete the full tour. The information provided was great and we thoroughly enjoyed the tour.Written August 15, 2022

John who lead the walk was really good and I felt I got a lot out of it with him pointing out things that we had already walked passed and not seen. I like the details he gave us of the history of Darwin. My deaf friend Faye really appreciated the notes that John brought for her to read so she felt really part of it. I recommend it to any tourist going to Darwin.
Unfortunately my photos are on my mobile phone and I cannot put them over to the computer I may be able to get one over to your facebook group. Will try.

Highly recommend 🤗💕. John is a local who is passionate in sharing the little Hidden Gems of Darwin most I had just walked by. I did two tours with John & his passion never wavered. He took the time to find out my interests (& all group members) & incorporated as much as he could in the short time. What wasn’t covered John gave easy to follow instructions for us to go back & find in our own time, which I did & really appreciated his advice. I loved both tours and would do more if I had time. I highly recommend Walk Darwin Tours. Thank you so much John; very much appreciated.

Walked to the centre of town to meet Robyn our walking tour guide. It was just us two which was perfect.
We felt very relaxed all day, despite the heat which saps my energy.
Robyn talked about history, buildings, Aboriginal people and more.
It was a very enjoyable experience.

The guide really makes the experience on tours such as these. Regretfully our guide, Brian, was inclined to talk more about his life and his experiences than move on with the tour. We were kept standing in one spot for the first 30 minutes of the tour while he spoke about his Cyclone Tracy and work experience, which was initially interesting however, we were keen to get on with the tour.
He has obviously led an interesting life in Darwin but a walking tour is what we had signed up for.
Another half an hour got us to visit two sites in the mall and then with some coaching we moved on with the walk, but with insufficient time to really see the subsequent sites.
Overall, we were disappointed with the tour. Brian had some aids to show but at times they were hard to see and often they faced him, rather than the group.
From previous review of the walk, it sounds like John is the tour guide to request.

On behalf of Walk Darwin, I apologise for the experience you had and thank you for providing this feedback highlighting that one of our guides has not met your expectation of a Walk Darwin tour. We take pride in providing local guides who are passionate about Darwin, it's history and lifestyle, and delivering an entertaining walk. They are human though and there is always a chance they will have an off day. It appears that this day it happened. We would love to clone John, but not sure that he is keen on the idea. Thank you once again for this feedback which will help us to support our guide to improve.

This was a great way to get to know about Darwin. Yvonne was very knowledgeable and excellent guide. The tour started at 8.30 so as to avoid the heat of the day. There are a couple of opportunities to sit down if you get tired of standing. Overall very enjoyable and good mix of history as well as general knowledge and street art.

Our guide John was fantastic. He shared his extensive knowledge and passion for Darwin history in an interesting manner. He has a great sense of humour too. The information and history in the small block we walked is really incredible. I really recommend this tour. It also gave some ideas of other places along the way that I would like to return to to explore further, like the mosaic in the Supreme Court, the library in Parliament House or the memorials along the Esplanade and park there.

I did the Heritage Tour with Yvonne this morning, 26 June 22 @08:30-10:30, it was one of the most informative and enjoyable tours I've ever had. The pace, information and the route as to the whole experience was just superb. It is a MUST in Darwin and a great way to learn about the city and get your bearing. I highly recommend it to everyone!

This tour was easy going and I found it very knowledgeable. John had lots of interesting facts and sights to share. The street art was amazing! There was only 4 of us, so easy to hear him speak. The pace was just right for a hot day. Enjoyed the unexpected coffer break and view from 16th floor building. Well worth it.

A nice early start in the mall to beat the heat. John had plenty of knowledge and historical information to share. A few local Darwin secrets explored on an easy walk around town.
