About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- I5209ANsueb0 contributionsFantastic experience! We thoroughly enjoyed your Sunset Prawn Platter Cruise which we did on 25th July. The boat was a perfect size- not too big and not too small and we really enjoyed our position at the back with the beautiful sea breeze. The staff were all so wonderful – friendly and very, very helpful especially since we had one of our group unexpectedly in a wheelchair/on crutches. We cannot speak more highly of them! The prawns were superb as were the dips beforehand. We really liked the way we were allowed to BYO our drinks and even extra food while still having glasses, crockery and cutlery provided. We managed to score a perfect sunset with an awesome red glow. All in all, 11/10 and we will be telling all of our friends how fantastic it was! Well done and thanks, Regards, SueWritten August 9, 2023
- luellas20190 contributionsSunset and dining how perfect Darwin. What beautiful night we had out on Darwin Harbour and the sunset was just amazing, the red sun was so beautiful. The ambience on the boat was perfect. Food just didn't stop, u could go and help yourself to seafood salad then steak and salmon came out very nice. The staff were fantastic very helpful thank u Molly & Jenna for a great night.Written August 1, 2022
- David S0 contributionsGreat evening on the harbour. Dining option selected.Had a great evening on the harbour, enjoying the sunset over Darwin with a really nice meal. Honestly, it is a bit clunky but that is part of the charm of it all. We are Territorian's of 25+ years and really enjoyed the experience. Tucker was nice. The prawns were not everything that I expected them to be but the rest was awesome. Oysters were the bomb, along with the locally smoked Mackerel. Everything was fresh as. I would recommend taking your own beer or wine (as it is OK to do so) as our bar tab added up quickly, as we didn't bring drinks with us. Great staff and informative. I recommend the dining option as the food was of great quality.Written April 28, 2022

- Cassie T0 contributionsSunset cruiseWhat I liked - abundance of food which inhjcuded dips to strat with; and bana prans and oyetsrs with dals for 1st ocurse and an option ofm dalmion or steak for second course; and finally fruit for derate. - relaxed atmosphere on a boat going aroudn the bay of Darwin - ;pvey company of other diners What I think detracted from the xpoerince - the rpice - $119 per eporson plus creit car fee but we were paying more for the sail rather than anything sepcil about the meal we could ahve found at a restaurant on land - it was too cludy for a sunset on the ater( not Cafe ASdiue's fault) but did again detrcat from the rwson to be on the eater that night. - the ataff seemed flsutered about the order of service and it showedWritten April 4, 2021
- BRIAN G0 contributionsService with a smileThis cruise was a highlight of our trip. The boat was comfortable and uncrowded, the food was plentiful and delicious. The service could not have been better. The cruise itself took in all the places of interest with very interesting commentary. I cannot recommend this cruise more highly.Written August 28, 2019
- Freda170 contributionsWhat a beautiful way to finish the day!Wow, Cape Adieu is a lovely traditional fishing ketch and only seats 50 passengers for dinner over 3 decks. We were lucky and had a table on the top deck so had wonderful views and a cooling breeze too. Kelsey looked after us for the evening and she is a delight and nothing is too much trouble for her. The food is all prepared by Mary and is delicious. Plenty of excellent seafood and all caught locally. There was a bit of a commentary when anything of interest came into view, but apart from that we just relaxed and enjoyed the beautiful evening. Would highly recommend.Written August 8, 2019

Went on the sunset cruise tonight & was looking forward to a nice relaxing last evening in Darwin on the water. We booked for the prawn platter as we knew we wouldn’t want a full dinner after our full day. Had we realised that booking the prawn platter only meant you were seated in the galley/kitchen where the washing up was done & the staff were preparing the meals for the “preferred guests “ who had booked for the full meal, we would have found a different cruise. The service was atrocious. We were literally treated like second class citizens stuck in cattle class while the first class diners enjoyed a lovely view, sea breezes, music & actual service. We had to actually ask for our meal, all the staff were running round serving the other guests at the front & top deck of the boat while we sat there wondering when the prawn platters came out. When the washing up started & the kitchen hand turned to another couple stuck down the back with us & said ‘you can have your prawn platter whenever you want just yell out’ then walked away completely ignoring us till we called out & asked if we could possibly have our platter.!! All night we dined while dishes were crashed around, containers emptied overboard that sprayed back onto us, the only breeze came from the hot air coming from the fridge motors & the grill, then the chef decided to spray the grill to clean it & we choked on the fumes! It was the most disgusting display of customer service I have ever experienced in my life. I’ll be leaving Darwin now with a very poor last impression & certainly won’t be in any hurry to get back here or recommend it to others. Well done Cape adieu, you’re doing a great job for the tourist industry in Darwin. If you’re going to offer 2 styles of menu you should be very clear that people ordering the prawn platter only should not expect to be treated try same as other guests!!

Hi There,
We are terribly upset that you didn't enjoy our sunset cruise.
Unfortunately we are, as the rest of Australia, struggling to find staff and are constantly having to train new people on a daily basis. However, I can assure you we treat every guest with respect and pride ourselves on our customer service. As no complaint or discussion was had during the cruise, we were unable to assist you. We would have been more than happy to help.
Our Stern deck is reserved for those who select our Prawn platters and Cruise only options as you are separated from our dinner diners so our service can run smoothly, and you're not sat among people having our four course meal, while you receive your one platter.
This deck does have our grill and dishwasher however, separated by the large Bain Marie and with the extra viewing platform out the back, this is a beautiful space to watch a stunning NT sunset.
The crew at Cape Adieu apologise and wish you the best on your travels.
Cheers Molly

There is always something magical about the sea combined with seafood
(as fresh as the harbor breezes) washed down with a beautiful light local rose wine.
Of course, the added accompaniment of a wife and old friend full of stories of the good old days made for an evening that we won’t forget.
The 20 meter ketch, which the owner christened Cape Adieu, was totally at capacity; yet, the crew was able to serve us a four course meal as effortlessly as guests in a private house.
Of special mention was our server, a young woman named Sophie, who was there even before we knew what we wanted. This was specially difficult, as our group had significant food allergies (which the catering crew met beautifully) and mobility issues (and we were assisted when needed).
It is such a shame that Travel Advisor allows a top grade of only five stars as Cape Adieu provided us with a ten star evening.

Everything about the experience was AWESOME. Management could not have been more helpful in assisting us to make and change our booking (especially during Lockdown situation). The ship and fit out for dinner was the perfect setting. Dinner was sensational: home made dips, freshest and most delicious prawns, oysters, fish, salads etc. The crew and their service was so professional, friendly and we felt immediately welcomed and completely relaxed once onboard. The vista (sunset like no other) was stunning (so many photo ops and crew and friendly fellow guests more than happy to assist). Being able to bring along our own beverages was an extra added bonus appreciated by all. This was definitely our Darwin highlight. Thank you Cape Adieu for such amazing an memory for our family. So enjoyable that we have booked again for our next visit in 12 months time!

Chose the prawn platter but it was obviously overbooked so we were sat in the full meal section, tucked away in a corner behind the servery directly in the blazing sun for the first 30 minutes before we even left the dock. Didn't get much better from there. Didn't need the romantic light offered, as we had the full force of the deck light right above us.
If you get offered a bench seat in the back section, get off immediately demand your money back.

Hi there,
We're really sorry you didn't enjoy your time on board with us. If you would like to get in touch with us to discuss compensation we would be happy to help. However, we did offer if you would like to be seated elsewhere during the cruise and your party declined this invitation. We do have specific seating for different cruise options but seeing as we had a table spare at the front we thought you would be happier there.
Sincere Apologies

Very well organised including sending customers reminder texts with clear instructions. This was greatly appreciated when traveling given access to internet is patchy. A wonderful experience. The food was absolutely beautiful. The staff were friendly and provided great customer service. The cruise and views were spectacular. This was great value for money. While you can byo we didn’t and the prices for wines and beers were very reasonable.

We researched the many sunset cruises available and decided on Cape Adieu sunset tours.
We had a beautiful evening. The staff were all super friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious and plentiful.
Even though it was a bit windy , sitting out the front of the boat it was very pleasant puttering around the harbour enjoying the food , company and sunset
Highly recommend

An amazing experience on the Harbour of Darwin. Lots of drinks and bubbles. Their was an array of finger food probably not enough to satisfy someone hungry but good to eat with drinking.
The owner was lovely and informative about Darwin and the staff lovely and offered sunscreen, drinks and water
Very worth the $ and it’s nice to something different in Darwin when visiting

A lovely way to spend a couple of hours enjoying Darwin's beautiful sunset! The food and wine was fresh, delicious and plentiful. Only drawback was we ordered the salmon for main which we think afterwards was threadfin salmon. Never heard of it and was not cooked 'crispy skinned' as we enquired and were assured it would be. Would never have guessed the crumbed fish was any sort of salmon in a million years, by taste or appearance, but okay nonetheless.
The service was excellent as was the quality of each course which included Coffin Bay oysters, prawns, dips, breads, a variety of fresh salads and fresh tropical fruits. Big shout out to the slim man (Shane?) who used to own the boat who was very attentive with providing our drinks upon embarking and ensuring everyone was looked after and provided commentary throughout.
Unimpressed with the very overweight man who opened the gate and proceeded to engage and process entry with everyone except the women who were quite obviously lined up right in front of the gate, and who then continued to engage with and admit other patrons away from the gate! Not impressed with this blatant oversight.

Food was tasty and plentiful, service was friendly and efficient. We set sail on time, was great that it wasn't a large boat so not many diners on board.
Three decks which meant you had plenty of room to move and sailing was very smooth. Departed on time.
The sunset was spectacular and the sea breeze made for a perfect night.

Fantastic sunset dinner cruise of Darwin harbour. Crew was excellent from the moment you step onto the boat until you leave they looked after your needs. Approximately a 2 and half hour dinner cruise and fantastic way to see the sunset. Food was great and plenty to have, certainly don’t leave hungry. Our cruise was smooth and weather was fantastic. Great that you can also byo. Certainly a recommend to do when in Darwin

You need to be there a little before 5, to board just after 5, then they serve dips and drinks and you leave the doc at 5.30. You can byo alcohol if you prefer. It is a very nice meal - enjoy 😁

just wondering how far in advance can we book? and can we request a "window" table? we are travelling in Jan 2019
Written October 15, 2018
When you book just ask about the table but all have views. January will be very hot and humid and if you are not used to this type of weather you may find it a bit uncomfortable as you are out in the open, no air conditioning.

Am just wondering if the tables are shared or if there is tables for just two?

Hi
We didn't share tables. I booked in advance a table for 5 and that's what we got. To be sure, you could also request when booking.
