Beautiful, calm camels to safely carry you around the station surrounded by the beautiful MacDonnell Ranges. Kate our cameleer was fantastic. - SandraA5650 contributionsBeautiful way to end the day- recommend sunset tourLovely people, lovely camels. The camels seem to be very well looked after. I only wish it ran slightly later so we could actually see the sunset (it was setting as we were getting driven home). I also wish we had a little more time with our camel- only had time for one quick photo when we got off at the end before they were put back in their pens. I also wish the tour was a little more informative, especially about the camels ie - where these ones came from etc. we kind of just arrived and then got put on the camel and went. I did find the trail itself though quite nice and very peaceful (except for one of the kids who wouldn’t shut up). The camels were all very lovely and well behaved. Great way to end the day.Written September 10, 2021

- adiandsherri0 contributionsCamel RideIt was a hot windy day which set the perfect scene for camel riding in the desert! Lol Our ride was at 2.30pm and we had a fabulous time riding some very placid camels. The guide was very thorough in checking everyone was having a good time. There are plenty of photo opportunities with the camels. Pixie and Saleh Mohamed certainly enjoyed some attention and a head scratch. Would definitely recommend and we loved our experience.Written September 18, 2020

- Anne L0 contributionsA beautiful rideWe had a lovely ride on beautiful, well-cared for camels. The area is stunning and the sunset was incredible. It was very quiet and peaceful. We had a drink and a snack at the end of the ride and it was wonderful meeting the other riders. Our shuttle to and from the farm was on time and clean.Written July 16, 2019
- AussieBiologist0 contributionsGreat for kids, more commentary needed for adultsMy daughter would have given this 5 stars as she just wanted to ride a camel and got this. But I would have given this 3 stars - hence the 4 star average. Why 3 stars? Well, all we did was sit on a camel for an hour. How about having the leader tell us a bit about camels during the middle photo stop, e.g. how they survive in the desert, and how they got to Australia via the Afghans. Interesting stories both, and would have made it educational rather than just a fun ride.Written May 8, 2019

Marcus was knowledgeable, friendly and all round fantastic! He’s a real life Croc Dundee (Camel Dundee?)! He made us feel very safe and comfortable, answered all of our questions, took photos of us at sunset and had a lovely chat with us afterwards. Couldn’t recommend this experience more highly! I took this as an off-train tour with the Ghan, and I loved it! Tours are included and this had a $60pp surcharge but totally worth it.
The camels are easy to mount as they have a platform, then they sit at the end to make it easy to get off.
They take 2 people per camel and walk in a caravan around the farm with the camels attached to each other so you don't have to do anything except sit down and enjoy.
They included a beer at the end with some snacks and displays about the camels and history of the area which was worth a look. The staff were very friendly too.

A beautiful and relaxing ride on the back of a camel at sunset with my husband. The setting sun on one side and a full moon on the other and the majestic Mac Donnell ranges around us. A champagne and nibbles followed our ride. The staff were awesome particularly Chris who took some awesome photos as he led the camels through the dunes.

The driver and the owner of the tour are very friendly and professional. The pick up time was the dot and we get to see sunset in open land with bushes now and then and the Mountain views are spectacular. The camels are well behaved and everything went so smoothly. End the tour with refreshment and snack was icing to the cake.Thank you so much for a great evening with you.

We loved our afternoon ride! It’s a beautiful and peaceful part of the world and the camels were gentle and well behaved. Thank you Chris for being our very knowledgeable Cameleer and our driver. We’re sorry we couldn’t meet up with you again at the Observatory but it was sold out 😢 Therein lies a Post-COVID warning folks, Book your activities well in advance as a lot of places are operating at reduced capacity due to staffing shortages, although I don’t believe this is the case at Pyndan. We really wanted to do the sunset ride, but simply because it’s the most popular it sells out early.

We chose the sunset ride for the opportunity to get the sun going down over the West MacDonnell range and were not disappointed. The set-up they have makes it so easy to mount and dismount the camels and the ride is very smooth. The information you get is comprehensive and the whole experience is one we will recommend to our friends when they visit the "Alice".

Did the sunset tour with a 2 year old and 7 year old and chose this place because they allowed children under 5 to ride camels. Was well organised and a nice setting. In hindsight, should’ve waited for the 2 year old to get a bit older before going, as she had had enough after 10 minutes.

We did the sunset camel tour, Marcus and his team are great, camels are very placid and gentle, we felt very safe on our hour long adventure, Marcus answered all questions about camels and himself that our group asked. Refreshments at the end of our tour was a real bonus. I would highly recommend the Alice Springs Camel tour.

The sunset tour into Central Australia was great if you have not expeienced a camel ride before. We did see a beautiful sunset through the clouds and a full moon rising which was great.
We felt that although the camels were well behaved and the tour was well organised, the guides could have given a bit more info in regards to our surroundings as well as the camels themselves (training, feeding, where they were sourced from etc). It was good to speak to Marcus at the end of the tour while we enjoyed a glass of bubbles.
We did this tour on the night we arrived in Alice and loved it - then did another sunset camel tour when at Uluru, which emphasised that it could have been better if the tour guide interacted more with us. You defintiley had the more comfortable saddles through! :)

Thanks so much for your feedback. I'll remind our staff to advise our camel riders that during the tour what we value sharing is the silence of the bush, the sound of the birds, the hum and feel of the camel's breath under your thighs as it breaths in and out. When we get back to the farm, this is the time for our camel guides to interact with our guests to share information about camels in Central Australia etc. Our daily lives are so full of noise that we think that the silence of nature is a gift. Thanks again

We did the sunset tour and the camels and setting were wonderful. We were disappointed in the host experience however. The young staff need some training on engaging with the guests. When we arrived we were asked our booking name and told to wash our hands and sign forms then we just stood around waiting until told to line up to where we would hop on the camels. There was no welcome or group briefing and once on our camels we just started walking off. The two staff did not introduce themselves so I don’t know their names. We got no overview of the camel farm or outline of what our tour would entail. Along the way we had no knowledge passed on of any interesting landmarks or commentary at all, except when we stopped for some quick cursory photos.

Cheers for sharing the you enjoyed our camels and the setting. And most importantly, thanks for your feedback about the host experience. It's so important for us to hear as the owners as we can't be on every tour, every time. Our interps training for our guides is so much greater than what you experienced. We have shared your review with the camel tour guides and it gave us the opportunity to reiterate their hosting role. Thanks again.

I cannot recommend this place enough!
First off we arrived and were greeted by a lovely smiling lady called Tracey. She was very kind and friendly. Then she showed us the camels and told us their names and answered every question we had about them. Riding camel named shadow was an unforgettable experience for both me and my wife. My wife said this camel ride was the best birthday gift ever.
Tracey took us on camel back through the bush and the sunset was stunning. We felt very safe and welcome. Tracey was very knowledgeable and made us all laugh . She even took photos for us on our phones of us on the camels. The sunset was beautiful and our shadows cast on the beautiful desert floor. It was a trip of a lifetime. We will never forget.
Thank you pyndan camel tracks and thank you Shadow the camel!

Is there a weight limit to riding a camel and is it fairly easy to mount
Written June 2, 2021
Not sure about weight limit, but mounting camel was easy and you climb off a platform. It was lots of fun.

what wildlife is there to be seen in the winter (July) months?
Written May 3, 2019
If you want to see wildlife then I suggest you visit Alice Springs Desert Park. If you want to see the wonderful scenery from the back of a camel and perhaps as a bonus see a small mob of kangaroos then this camel tour is for you.
