About
Book ahead to experience the outback as the original Australian explorers did on this camel tour of Alice Springs. As you listen to your guide's commentary while on the back of a camel, it’s easy to imagine what it was like for settlers hundreds of years ago to travel across the Australian Red Centre. Stop for photos against the backdrop of the MacDonnell Ranges and spot wallabies and kangaroos.

Highlights
Experience Australia as the original settlers did: on the back of a camel
Get closer to wildlife than if on a traditional Alice Springs vehicle tour
Learn the history of camels in Australia from your guide
Hotel pickup and drop-off makes for a seamless experience
What to expect
Ready yourself for pickup from your Alice Springs hotel at the time indicated upon booking, depending on which tour option you selected (morning, afternoon, or sunset). Or, self-drive to Pyndan Camel Tracks if you prefer. There's no better vantage point to see the local wildlife without disturbing them than on the back of a camel. Keep your camera ready for up-close views of wildlife such as wallabies, kangaroos, and native birds on your gentle ride to the scenic Temple Bar Gap. Your guide helps you spot wildlife and teaches you about the history of camel use in Australia. When the tour ends, you are returned to your Alice Springs hotel.

Camel Riding At Sunset in the Alice
Sep 2021 • Family
Riding a camel with my family at Sunset! An amazing experience for the whole family! Thanks Sarah and the gang and of course the amazing Camels for the tour. My eight yr old was especially excited about having her own camel. We also got to see some kangaroos in the wild on our hr tour.

Thanks for sharing your kids and family enjoyment at meeting our camels and Sara our wonderful cameleer. The kangaroos seem chilled at sharing their MacDonnell Ranges valley with our camel train.

Top 5 attractions to do in Alice Springs

Went on the sunset tour and we were lucky enough to have the tour to ourselves (VIP). The staff were great and very knowledgeable. They provided lovely snacks and drinks after and were s super friendly. I have told my friends it is a must-do if you are in Alice Springs!

Was a great experience! Did the 12pm trip and had fun, the only issue was that the Central Australian heat really got to me. Besides that, I recommend anyone travelling to Alice Springs to take a trek with these guys

Great family experience ♥️
We were fortunate enough to have 2 Camel Experiences in August, one with friends, then another with 9 family members- both were relaxing and delightful. I recommend for families and couples .. if you are single , just snuggle a camel !

Lovely review! Huge thanks for your choosing to tour twice with the camels in August. Marcus, our owner and cameleer, reckons that if he ever needs a shoulder to cry on, he snuggles up to his camels.

Fun to ride a camel but location could be better
Jun 2021 • Family
It was fun to ride a camel but a little bit of a plod along. We were a bit disappointed by surroundings as long walk up a dusty road to what was basically a flat open area not up close to range as advertised and saw only a couple of birds on way. But well run operation with interesting camel history in shed.

Thanks for sharing your experience and noting the camel history displays. Great description of our unpaved tracks as dusty roads! That’s the outback. We are located in a valley among the Western MacDonnell Ranges. We can never predict what nature will offer on any given day. At the moment the budgerigars are making lots of noise perching in trees and swooping around in flocks. Sorry you missed them. On a tour last year an eagle 🦅 soared down and snatched a young roo in its talons! Thanks 🙏

Camels
This was a nice tour. Free pick up from accommodation and a generous 70 odd minute sunset ride. Camels are clearly well cared for and the ride was uneventful. The scenery at dusk was lovely. Chatting afterwards with the owner/operators was interesting too. Reconnended

Evening camel ride
We were due to do a sunset but the clouds had other ideas.. still had the best time. Sarah was a good guide and Shadow a good camel. The clouds provided great photos. Lots of fun to be had and enjoyed our champagne at the end...

Great experience to take a camel ride and witness the sunset just out of Alice Springs. Great to see how the ranges around the farm change colour.

Amazing! The camels were in excellent condition and obviously well cared for. We did the sunset ride, which was sensational. An unexpected bonus was beer, champagne and nibbles to finish the day. Highly recommend.
