I loved every part of the experience. I arrived early and found the mini-museum really interesting. The registration procedure was quick and easy.
The leader Chris was amazing. He explained everything clearly, answered questions, took photos of everyone (and the group) with each person's camera/phone and the enthusiasm for his role was obvious. It was very relaxing on the ride and l felt safe at all times.
After we had all dismounted at the end, Chris was happy for those who wished (l did) to follow him as he took the camels back to their resting area. He showed how the camels sit and took extra photos. I had a great time.

We loved our afternoon ride! It’s a beautiful and peaceful part of the world and the camels were gentle and well behaved. Thank you Chris for being our very knowledgeable Cameleer and our driver. We’re sorry we couldn’t meet up with you again at the Observatory but it was sold out 😢 Therein lies a Post-COVID warning folks, Book your activities well in advance as a lot of places are operating at reduced capacity due to staffing shortages, although I don’t believe this is the case at Pyndan. We really wanted to do the sunset ride, but simply because it’s the most popular it sells out early.

A beautiful and relaxing ride on the back of a camel at sunset with my husband. The setting sun on one side and a full moon on the other and the majestic Mac Donnell ranges around us. A champagne and nibbles followed our ride. The staff were awesome particularly Chris who took some awesome photos as he led the camels through the dunes.

4 adults in our family went on the sunset tour. We were picked up in the mini bus from our accommodation at 4:30pm and driven a short distance along the beautiful West Macdonnell Range to the Camel Camp.
We were greeted warmly and filled out our forms and COVID-19 paperwork before being introduced to our camels.
Within 1/2 an hour of our pickup, we were on our camels and heading out for a leisurely walk in the desert.
Admittedly, it was a small group and it was really quite cold out there, but our guide, Ben, looked after us all, as if we were the only ones with him; taking pics of us with our own phones and lining us up for the very best views to capture that sky over the mountains and the sunset.
We returned before dark, got to pat our camels and capture more shots of them and the sunset, then were offered refreshments and an opportunity to purchase souvenirs, read the history of the Afghan cameleers.
An unhurried vibe, we chose when we wanted to go back home.
From start to finish, this was a well run tour. Safety helmets and Covid safe practices, unhurried, safe mounting platform to make it easy for almost anyone to get on the camels. Nice camels, well cared for and well behaved! If you go in Winter, wear all your thermals, jackets, scarves and beanies as the evening air was crisp. Use your phone for photos as you need to hold on most of the time. If you go in the warmer months, the sunset tour would be the natural choice to avoid sunburn and heat stress. It’s not a long ride, but a good hour or so (I suppose depending on weather and the number of people on the tour). The staff are lovely.
We were back in Alice and out for dinner by 7:30pm.
Highly recommended.

We did the sunset camel tour, Marcus and his team are great, camels are very placid and gentle, we felt very safe on our hour long adventure, Marcus answered all questions about camels and himself that our group asked. Refreshments at the end of our tour was a real bonus. I would highly recommend the Alice Springs Camel tour.

I absolutely loved my camel ride. The ladies that looked after us were really friendly and they made everyone feel welcome and safe.
Riding a camel is definitely something to be experienced and it's much nicer to experience that at a place where the camels are clearly very well cared for. The scenery around us was fabulous too. I heartily recommend this as something to do whilst in Alice Springs. It was the highlight of my visit.

The sunset tour into Central Australia was great if you have not expeienced a camel ride before. We did see a beautiful sunset through the clouds and a full moon rising which was great.
We felt that although the camels were well behaved and the tour was well organised, the guides could have given a bit more info in regards to our surroundings as well as the camels themselves (training, feeding, where they were sourced from etc). It was good to speak to Marcus at the end of the tour while we enjoyed a glass of bubbles.
We did this tour on the night we arrived in Alice and loved it - then did another sunset camel tour when at Uluru, which emphasised that it could have been better if the tour guide interacted more with us. You defintiley had the more comfortable saddles through! :)

Thanks so much for your feedback. I'll remind our staff to advise our camel riders that during the tour what we value sharing is the silence of the bush, the sound of the birds, the hum and feel of the camel's breath under your thighs as it breaths in and out. When we get back to the farm, this is the time for our camel guides to interact with our guests to share information about camels in Central Australia etc. Our daily lives are so full of noise that we think that the silence of nature is a gift. Thanks again

I took this as an off-train tour with the Ghan, and I loved it! Tours are included and this had a $60pp surcharge but totally worth it.
The camels are easy to mount as they have a platform, then they sit at the end to make it easy to get off.
They take 2 people per camel and walk in a caravan around the farm with the camels attached to each other so you don't have to do anything except sit down and enjoy.
They included a beer at the end with some snacks and displays about the camels and history of the area which was worth a look. The staff were very friendly too.

We did the sunset tour and the camels and setting were wonderful. We were disappointed in the host experience however. The young staff need some training on engaging with the guests. When we arrived we were asked our booking name and told to wash our hands and sign forms then we just stood around waiting until told to line up to where we would hop on the camels. There was no welcome or group briefing and once on our camels we just started walking off. The two staff did not introduce themselves so I don’t know their names. We got no overview of the camel farm or outline of what our tour would entail. Along the way we had no knowledge passed on of any interesting landmarks or commentary at all, except when we stopped for some quick cursory photos.

Cheers for sharing the you enjoyed our camels and the setting. And most importantly, thanks for your feedback about the host experience. It's so important for us to hear as the owners as we can't be on every tour, every time. Our interps training for our guides is so much greater than what you experienced. We have shared your review with the camel tour guides and it gave us the opportunity to reiterate their hosting role. Thanks again.

If you want to see wildlife then I suggest you visit Alice Springs Desert Park. If you want to see the wonderful scenery from the back of a camel and perhaps as a bonus see a small mob of kangaroos then this camel tour is for you.
