About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- lindy9090 contributionsFantasea cruise with Toronga zoo entry. We booked this trip that included toronga zoo entry. Great service. Very friendly and helpful staff. Boat always right on time. Really enjoyed our day and experience. Would use again and highly recommendWritten January 13, 2025
- Lainie M0 contributionsAwful NYE cruise…. Don’t botherDO NOT WASTE YOUR $$$ So bloody disappointing. Group of 11 of us went on the NY cruise… we got there at 7.30pm with boarding at 9.30, to ensure a good spot! What a waste of time… they had no structure or coordination with the queues. Absolutely no atmosphere, it was bloody boring! Saw the fireworks behind a bunch of heads and we kept floating behind another yacht so kept losing view. Relatives from UK came over as it should have been a spectacle and bucket list experience but no it wasn’t. I left miserable and not feeling excited or happy with the over $5k spent on this “experience”, just wanted to get home and get to bed. DONT DO IT. Find a better company to use…Written January 7, 2025
- 327jackid0 contributionsCommentary needs to be louder but otherwise nice cruiseDid the Sydney harbour sightseeing one hour cruise with the NRMA 20% discount. It was fine, but couldn’t hear a word of the commentary. He really needs to speak up. This was the 11.40am cruise on Friday Jan 3, 2025. Was seated upstairs. Boat was clean and seating was fine. Saw all the highlights like the bridge and opera house up close but would have liked to been able to hear the particulars of every where else.Written January 2, 2025
- Discover587769413060 contributionsNot as AdvertisedIt was more like a aquatic taxi rather than a cruising tour as advertised. we left from point to point visiting couple of places without any preview's briefing neither guided through to know where we were going or stopping at... we were completely lost as we didn't know whether we should bord off at some places or remain in the boat..... Not as advertised.Written January 1, 2025
- mkromvelel0 contributionsAvoid as NYE fireworks cruiseNot recommended for NYE fireworks. Terrible! It is a huge ferry with little comfort and privacy, very noisy. The boat departs at 22.15 and spends almost two hours on the water without any action which is boring. What a waste of time on NY. They forbid BYO or bringing your own wine but did not have any champagne or any other wine at NY saying it was sold quickly. The truth is they did not have it as I have not seen anybody with it. Shame on NY. The position of the boat to see the fireworks was miserable and too far to see good fireworks. Besides the boat always moved. Overall, it is a tourist trap and definitely not worth on NYE.Written December 31, 2024
- JudyBSydney0 contributionsDisappointing Fantasea Boxing Day cruiseExtremely disappointed with our 5th Fantasea Boxing Day cruise. I want a refund or credit. Instead of the most exciting part going out the Heads to the ocean and following the fleet to as far as Maroubra, the skipper turned around and went back to Circular Quay. It wasn't too rough he was too slow following the Sydney to Hobart fleet and even stopped for ages while other spectator boats whizzed past.Written December 27, 2024
- cherylbK7181IY0 contributionsExcellent CrewAmazing views of the city and The Boxing Day yacht race. Will do it again. The captain and crew were excellent. Could not ask for anything more.Written December 26, 2024
- rhysa8280 contributionsSydney to HobartWent on fantasea cruises for the Sydney to Hobart and didn’t get to enjoy the full front of the experience promised. The Cruise turned around early with a lack of explanation and overall being lazy. The cruise *did not uphold* there promised journey to Bondi.Written December 26, 2024
- Katya C0 contributionsTotal rip offAwful. Only told once we’d bought the tickets that the weather conditions were bad. Everyone felt sea sick the whole time and we didn’t see any whalesWritten November 15, 2024
- 189allieb0 contributionsVomiting crowdVery rough. Most people were vomiting. Weirdly we headed out to see for the last 15 mins. The whales were good, but overall wouldn’t recommend.Written November 2, 2024
- MaryN9780 contributionsSaw whales! We got to see whales. Not loads but the staff did their best given the poor conditions. But what we did see was fab and I’d recommend themWritten October 20, 2024
- ashleynisbet10 contributionsAmazing experience but not for those with a sensitivity to motion / sea sickness! When they start the safety briefing with a huge emphasis on seasickness and offer out sick bags before you board the boat….. The trip is around 20-30 mins outside the harbour so you are in open sea, so they are not being dramatic! But they have good advice about how to minimise it and how to deal with it should you succumb! Aside from that, it was amazing- to see humpback whale calf and mother having fun was wonderful! Just make sure to hold on, stay in the fresh air and look at the horizon 😂 ! Definitely not for the weak of stomach! I’ve been on many boats and this was quite a surprise how rocky it was.Written September 25, 2024
- Bella F0 contributionsSuch a great experience and a great captain! What an incredible experience. An element of luck comes with whale watching, and we got very lucky. We saw 3 different pods during our 2.5 hour trip. Two of which had very active breaching calves. Would definitely recommend! Bring a jacket and sunglasses to help protect from the wind as the boat picks up a lot of speed.Written September 22, 2024
- 841kylief0 contributionsSpectacular SydneyBucket list tick! Thank you to Chris and the team for an informative and amazing whale watching experience. Thoroughly recommend. My mum had the best Birthday ever!Written September 20, 2024
- NeilB640 contributionsTotal WasteThis was a total rip-off. It was NOT a "sightseeing cruise" as billed. The so-called commentary was under a minute of completely inaudible audio as we pulled out of Circular Quay - then silence. The route was identical to the much cheaper public ferries. We have taken two other actual sightseeing cruises of the harbor from other companies in past years. This was NOTHING like those actual tours.Written September 19, 2024

The zoo was terrific and certainly unique in location and set up. BEAUTIFUL views of the Sydney Harbour. A vast collection of animals. One downside is that the "hopper" version of the cruise is pretty useless in combination with the zoo, as it is certainly a 5 hour visit at the zoo. So no time to island hop. Better to purchase a direct ferry ride to and from the zoo to Circular Key.

This was an amazing zoo! Bought our tickets online from the zoo’s website before traveling to Sydney, Australia. Took the ferry from the Sydney wharf directly to the Taronga Zoo wharf. It was a short walk up to the entrance. The walk from the wharf was uphill the entire way and could be difficult with any limitations. There is also a bus that will drive you around to the other entrance to the zoo. The Taronga Zoo is world famous for a reason. It is amazing. The animals are mostly in open, natural habitats. Plan on at least 3 hours to see the zoo, but we were there for almost 5 hours including lunch at the cafe.

In the harbour views are always amazing and the mix of animals in the zoo was great including the koala experience.
The Fantsea boat was spacious and very comfortable.
Only slight negative is needing more round trips in the day to Manly and Watsons Bay in the schedule.

Nice zoo for visit with family but couldn't feed the animals, clean and very informative. Great view of Sydney. Compared to Sydney Zoo, the staff fed the animals so that we, the visitors, could see the animals and see the animal/staff interactions.

This was a great experience. The combo pass was great and the location to pick up the tickets was easy to find. Staff there and on the boats were great. The Taronga Zoo was one of the prettiest we’ve ever seen. The views across the harbor were amazing. Highly recommend this tour!

After looking at a few different options, Fantasea cruises was by far the best. VIP experience from the moment we boarded. The staff are so friendly & welcoming. The upper level is open, giving you the best experience when cruising the harbour. Don’t look anywhere else, just book with them and you won’t be disappointed.

Taronga Zoo is for sure the most scenic zoo with so many animals. I love this Zoo it takes us to the ultimate animal experience. Giraffes in this Zoo has the most beautiful spot in the world! Highly recommended.

AMAZING!
We had a reptile tour with Bonnie and then we explored on our own. Such a massive place, where the enclosures looked to be designed for the animals comfort, as opposed to the entertainment of the visitors. Master 10 was blown away by the amazing Tiger enclosures in particular.

The zoo is undergoing a lot of new building construction. Go early or late to avoid the sleeping animals. More likely to be active early or late. Be sure to walk through the aviaries....a great way to see up-close the native birds. There are stairs but nearly always a ramp or an elevator for those who need or want it.

The boat you travel on is the Fantasy cruises. The staff were friendly and they did a great job. There is free coffee and tea on the larger boat. I didn't see that on the smaller boat. There is a posted schedule. In the middle of the day they take a break, so make sure you review the timetable and plan accordingly. Also, the service doesn't go into the late afternoon/evening. For example, the last boat departing Manly Bay is 330pm. So you will need to find different transport back after that. The zoo was very nice. Very hilly. Wear sneakers. If you start at the bottom you will be walking uphill. Fom the boat there is a bus to take you to the top. Overall good experience.
