About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Z362RFvincentc0 contributionsSydney in a dayMy wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the tour given by Peter. He gave us a day of special sights and key attractions. He also accommodated our special requests and seamlessly incorporated into our tour. His knowledge of Sydney was special and you can tell he loves his hometown. It was a real pleasure to to have his company and we couldn't have packed more into a day on our own.Written August 27, 2024
- edweia0 contributionsSydney’s Food GemsAnother seamlessly easy, fabulous food feast with Peter. I do not know how he finds these gustatory treasures, because they’re not on the tourist radar, thankfully. First up was Turkish sweets highlighted with dark and white chocolate, cherries, Nutella and fruits. Then it was back to the city for a wonderfully fresh, authentic Gado Gado (really delicious), followed by a delicate Asian chicken dish in the leafy residential suburbs of Sydney and an aromatic Persian feast featuring smoky, melt-in-your-mouth barbecued meat balanced with rice, vegetables and the most amazingly delicious tangy lemon drink I’ve ever had. All accompanied by Peter’s extensive knowledge of Sydney. He clearly plans your trip to ensure it exceeds your expectations and has thought of everything to make your trip an unforgettable and delicious introduction or continuing journey to the jewels in Sydney’s food crown.Written August 12, 2024
- Curious520776571300 contributionsThe food I suspected Sydney has, but didn't know where to look.Surprising locations for multicultural foods. Peter knows where it all is, just name which you want to try - or take his pick. Have never had baklava like that before! Nor the delicately smoked chicken. Each dish was new to me. Hard to pick out a favourite, all good. Thoroughly enjoyable and hassle-free day.Written July 29, 2024
- lindavX8970TL0 contributionsWonderful and flexible guidePeter was a wonderful guide - he was very flexible in adjusting the planned excursions to accommodate the weather (rain and mist) and our interests in both nature and culture. This was our third time in Sydney so we had already done the most obvious sights. On the two day trips we booked with him, Peter went out of his way to guide us through other parts of Sydney and surroundings, and gave us some wonderful tips for the rest of our stay. Through our pleasant conversations we now have a better understanding of life in Sydney and in Australia in general. Looking forward to our next visit and exploring more of Sydney with Peter!Written June 10, 2024
- C1344DIevang0 contributionsVery Knowledgeable and KindWe had an amazing tour all around Sydney with Peter Bailey. He was very flexible with catering the tour to our needs and was an expert on all of the places we went. He had some secret places for some great pictures of Sydney harbor and the bridge. It was also a pleasure to ride the ferry back from Manly afterwards. Peter was also able to make recommendations for my dietary needs. I would highly recommend Peter Bailey and would definitely try out some of his other tours if I return to Sydney in the future.Written June 2, 2024

- Curious520776571300 contributionsThe Sydney Melting Pot in a nutshell. Authentic cuisines, knowledgeable host and guide.Fabulous food, and it’s all made so easy. This is a unique tour, showcasing the best of a carefully curated selection of cuisines, available all over Sydney. Peter is such a knowledgeable host, there is nothing formulaic, none of that repetitious “And we’re walking” or reading from a script. Not the herding or waiting that you expect in big groups - which means it packs more locations in, yet it feels relaxed and unhurried. And along the way, we saw some scenic parts that aren’t in the usual tours - driving over Madonna’s Bra (the ANZAC Bridge), the Parramatta ferry trip (our choice). So many memorable aromas and flavours. Mmmm… Oh, and bring a container to save some snacks for later. Well worth fasting for!Written January 28, 2024

- 794gemmah0 contributionsperfect way to discover SydneyOne of the best tours I've been on. The tour was very personal and adapted to our needs and interests. - Melissa H0 contributionsBest tour I've ever taken! Our family wanted to tour the Blue Mountains while we were in Sydney, but were daunted by the logistics for our group of five that included two young kids (4 and 7-years-old) and 3 adults (including one retiree with a disability that limits mobility). We thought the group tours seemed either too slapdash (stopping for mere minutes before dashing off) or too miniscule (only a couple of stops before heading home). The train seemed simple enough, except for figuring out the logistics of getting around the area once we arrived (and needing to cut out a stop to Featherdale that my kids really wanted). We considered just renting a car, but driving on the left side of the road was intimidating, and it was hard to really assess what we wanted to do once we arrived, and what would be too much for our group to handle. Ultimately, we arranged for a private tour, and it ended up being an absolute highlight of our trip. Peter was really communicative about logistics leading up to the tour, and an excellent conversationalist and guide during the tour. He also gave us recommendations based on things we wanted to do for the remainder of our time back in Sydney. He planned a fantastic itinerary that allowed us to see the beauty of the Blue Mountains from several lookouts, visit Scenicworld, and Featherdale. When the kids got hungry he recommended a delicious little pie shop in the mountains, and everyone enjoyed their offerings. We were never rushed, and the plan was seamlessly adjusted as we went based on our wants and needs. It was such a delight to see this beautiful natural wonder with an experienced guide who knew how to avoid crowds, and manage a group with a lot of different wants and needs. As a bonus, Peter was easy to talk to, well-traveled, well-informed, funny, and kind to our entire party. I know we were on the fence about whether or not to go to the Blue Mountains, and whether we really needed a private guide. I can tell you wholeheartedly that you should go, and that you will definitely be glad you hired Peter to take you. I cannot overstate the fact that our entire group had a GREAT day - no small feat! Highly, highly recommend his tour services!Written November 27, 2023
- AMW393870 contributionsExcellent tour! This tourguide is highly recommend, Peter was excellent. He was friendly and knowledgeable and gave advice for us to get best out of tour and where to go to see things and take photos. We saw Sydney and The Blue Mountains both in a day tour. Long days but well worth doing it and making memories.Written November 2, 2023

Peter Bailey took me on a visit to the Blue Mountains and Bathurst. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day, and I found Peter to be excellent company, and most knowledgable about all the places we visited. These included Katoomba, Lithgow and some beautiful waterfalls. Peter was also very familiar with Bathurst. He was able to point out many details of the history, architecture and background of the places we visited and passed which added to the pleasure of the day.
Â
Peter was very solicitous of my needs, as I use walking aids these days, and drove carefully and responsibly. He was easy to talk to and it was a pleasure to spend time with him. I have no hesitation in recommending his services as a specialist personalised tour guide to Sydney and it’s environs.

Peter is, quite simply, amazing. He's personable, knowledgeable, and expertly guided us through a busy National Park in such a way that we almost felt like we had the place to ourselves. He's made these great booklets of information about Australia and NSW that you can peruse as you drive out of the city and into nature, plus we were free to ask any and all questions we had.
I would sign up for any tour with Peter. If you're thinking about it, just do it. He clearly loves what he does and where he lives. He gives great advice, can help you plan your other days, and knows what to do and where to go.
We're so thankful for our day in the Blue Mountains and would go back in an instant if we could. Stunning doesn't do it justice. As a human not known for their hiking skills, know that the walks and stairs were just challenging enough. Do it. On all counts. You won't regret a moment.

We loved our tour with Peter! He is soft spoken and knowledgeable about the sites we saw. He also has a great sense of humor. We went on beautiful walks that, as a tourist, we wouldn’t have known existed and the views were spectacular! We would highly recommend Peter Bailey’s services! Lynna C.

Peter was a great guide to show us around. Very knowledgeable and he took us to spots we would not have otherwise seen. He was great to talk to while driving around as we had a lot to compare between countries. Highly recommend Peter if you are heading to Sydney.

Our family of five (including teenage boys) enjoyed an incredible day with Peter. The tour was first class from start to finish.
Through the day, we saw:
- Featherdale Wildlife Park. What a treat! We were literally the first to enter the park, having the animals to ourselves for some time, thanks to Peter’s timing.
- Scenic World - including all the traditional rides (Skyway, Railway - twice, and Cableway) and all the scenery of two great hikes (Furber Steps, and a waterfall trek)
- Nice mountain villages, including a nice stop for lunch
- An excellent cliff hike
We covered a lot of ground, and Peter was a great guide - sharing his insights and the day never felt rushed. Check out his website directly, which had good itinerary ideas, FAQs, and booking options.
You’ll enjoy the time traveling, as Peter is happy to field questions and discuss any topic. We learned so much about Sydney and Australian culture - it was like speaking with a friend after a while. (He even had good music ideas - one more way to learn Australia!). The van is very comfortable.
Highly recommended. Thanks, Peter, for a great day.

(Sorry, it's taken me nearly a year to get round to doing this review!)
We had already had a guided tour of Sydney with Peter a couple of weeks previously, so being picked up for this tour was like meeting an old friend again. As we headed out of Sydney towards the Blue Mountains I discovered to my delight that Peter, like myself was a jazz fan. He introduced me to a very good Australian band, The Catholics, and I was able to point him towards a few European acts.
I have mobility difficulties, but Peter had carefully tailored the tour to suit me,. His knowledge of where to park, and where to go for the best views with minimal walking was excellent.
We saw stunning views, all the major sites as well as a jaw-dropping ride on the scenic railway, all the time with Peter taking the greatest care over timing and accessibility. We dined at the Petalura Eatery - highly recommended if you have the time and a very empty stomach!
Fantastic day out, really enjoyed it and cannot praise Peter enough for his personal attention to detail.

Peter took us on a wonderful tour of Blue Mountain today. My husband and I enjoyed the activities at Scenic World and the stunning scenery at the lookouts he chose to stop at. We appreciated his efforts to avoid the crowds and make the experience a thoroughly pleasant one. Peter is an excellent and considerate guide and we recommend his services without reservation.

On a recent trip to Australia, my wife and I booked a tour with Bailey's Sydney Tours to introduce us to the beauty of the Blue Mountains outside Sydney. Peter Bailey greeted us at our hotel with a very comfortable van for the two-hour drive to the mountains. There, we spent several hours at Scenic World, hiking and enjoying the fantastic scenery. Peter stayed with us during our hike, providing very knowledgeable and interesting commentary about the area and its history. He planned our trek through the park to avoid crowds and to maximize our time enjoying its natural beauty. Following a late lunch in a picturesque nearby town, Peter drove us back to Sydney, all the while answering our myriad questions about Australia. Peter is a great conversationalist and was a very enjoyable companion for the day. Upon returning to my hotel room, I discovered that my wallet was missing. After several panic stricken minutes we texted Peter, who found my wallet in his van and had it back to me in ten minutes. Our tour with Peter was a 5-star experience. Thank you Peter, for a great day.

Jan 2019 • Friends
We booked an 8-hour private tour for five to the Blue Mountains with Peter Bailey. The tour was in mid-January, 2019, and we booked it several months in advance. Since we were arriving in Sydney at 6 a.m. and boarding our cruise ship at mid-afternoon, we had several hours to kill.
It turned out to be perfect! Peter was one of the most amiable folks we encountered on this trip.
In making the initial reservation, I corresponded with Peter several times via email to make specific arrangements, and he offered several options for stops and other amenities. Because we landed in Sydney earlier than expected, the cruise line transported us from the airport to a hotel hospitality room at the base of the Harbour Bridge, and Peter picked us up at exactly the re-arranged time. (due to the last-minute time and location changes, I was able to modify the pickup arrangements with Peter via text messages, and he even texted me a picture of his VW van.)
From there on, everything went according to plan. He even made lunch reservations at a nice restaurant for the six of us. After seeing the sights, we still had some additional time to utilize; so he offered us the alternatives of visiting the paid-admission parks (Scenic World/Featherdale) or to drop us off at the Olympic Stadium ferry terminal, then take the public transit ferry back to the Sydney Harbour area where he would pick us up and shuttle us to our ship. We chose the ferry option, and we're glad we did! For just a few bucks apiece, we had an hour tour of the harbour with seven passenger pickup stops at some very interesting locations. He met us near the Opera House, and 15 minutes later we were boarding our ship.
We five jetlagged Americans were very appreciative of our adventure and of the fact that we'd made a new friend. Also, the price was very reasonable.
ADVICE:
-- Book early!
-- Don't be afraid to ask Peter for his advice. He's there to please you!
-- If you have time, include the Harbour Ferry in your plans. It was delightful!

We're landing in Sydney at 6:15 a.m. on January 13 and, after arrival/customs, will be taken to our ship. Boarding is in the afternoon. During this 5-6 hour wait, we'd like someone the take the five of us to the Blue Mountains and return early evening for our boarding. The ship leaves the next day. Can you customize our tour to accommodate this time frame?
