- MsTracy19790 contributionsNot just for childrenA friend and I decided to go on impulse after a work lunch. It was her choice and I wasn't sure, although I remembered enjoying the underwater tunnel when I was in high school. It was really good and I'd recommend a visit even if you don't have children with you. It's a deceptively large venue so leave at least an hour but we took about 90min. We ended up spending a fair amount of time around the main tank watching the fish and dugong. It was super relaxing and my Fitbit thanked me for the visit.Written August 24, 2024
- LQK20100 contributionsDugong was very cute! The experience, in general, was extremely great. We reserved tickets online so the entrance was smooth. Exhibitions were really nice with informative legends. The animals seemed to be well fed. We especially loved the dugong and the penguins.Written August 20, 2024
- 682_rp_dk0 contributionsOvercrowdedThe place was overcrowded, no air, it was like fish in can. The tickets had specific time to enter the aquarium, but either the visitors did not follow instructions or they sold too many tickets. My kid started panicking. Asked staff how can we abort the tour and leave immeditely. They did not help, just waved us to follow the signes. We had to walk thru the entire show to be able to exit. I cannot say anything about the content of the show because did not see them.Written August 19, 2024
- W9448GVlouiseh0 contributionsVery over priced.Really disappointing. I firstly thought I had booked happy hour tickets, only to discover the Website had defaulted the date to a weekday. When we arrived I was charged an extra $60! $200 for a very disappointing experience. The Dugong area has not changed since I was a kid. It's in desperate need of a Reno. It's so old and dated and rundown. I can't believe the aquarium gets away with charging what it does. If i was a tourist in Sydney I'd be shocked - as a major modern city shouldn't we have an awesome aquarium? The only good part was the shark tunnels, but surely you don't pay $200 just for that? The jellyfish tubes were pretty much empty, there were barely any seahorse, only 1 turtle, and quite a few empty tanks. The whole place smelled weird, and the toilets were absolutely filthy. I wish I could get a refund. I feel so ripped off.Written August 17, 2024
- waynehN4248TO0 contributionsAbby meets the sharks .My 18 yo daughter went for the dive and it was wonderful and extremely well run . The family became part of the whole event and were treated respectfully, as VIP guests and included in the event even though we just watched . We had our own guide and even taken back of house while we waited for my daughter to change from the diving gear . She got very very up close with the sharks and rays . The video taken by the safety diver (extra cost) was well worth the fee and made the experience one of the best you could imagine. She was extremely excited , and happy with the whole dive experience .Written July 24, 2024

Upon purchasing this Merlin Pass we had to select a time to activate the first attraction (Sea Life Aquarium) but we were unsure if we could’ve made it on time.
Communication via messaging and phone were excellent as we had to amend it on the day.
After activation the Merlin Pass was valid for a month and visitation at each attraction was at our own lesuire, although the itinerary did state to pre-book time slots but this wasn’t mandatory when we arrived at the attractions.
We did all 4 attractions which 3 of them were all in one place at Darling Harbour, Sky Tower Eye was approximately a 10 minute walk from them and found in the Westfield Shopping Mall.
It was definitely worth purchasing this Merlin Pass as it saved us money on individual bookings for each attractions.

First of all the 3 attractions: Sea Life, the wax museum and the Wild Life zoo are all in the . The same building, so it's super convenient. The wax museum and the zoo shares the same entrance. The pass allows you go immediately walk in with just your pass print out. The aquarium is good with a sea cow, sharks, rays, jelly fish and touch starfish exhibition. The zoo is the best for close encounters of animals. Been to many zoos down under and this one is the best. You actually get to see the platypus, Tasmanian devils, and other nocturnal marsupials up close, and the emus walk around you. Really didn't want to see the wax museum, but I had a blast, it's mostly taking selfies, and a small bio of the wax lifelike characters, with emphasis on Australian celebrities. It's all located in the beautiful Darling Harbour which has a wide array of eateries and libations to choose from. Give yourself like 6 or 7 hours to see, shop and eat. Plenty transportation options available: ferries, light rail, taxi. A must! You can only start the tours on the assigned day but you can finish the package anytime afterwards. The Sydney Sky Tower is located closer to Hyde park in the CBD at the Westfield shopping mall, rather hard to find that starts on the 5th floor behind the huge food court. There is a 3D film shown first.

The views from the Tower were amazing. Go close to sunset so you can have the best of both worlds, daylight and night views of Sydney. The best part of the aquarium was the Sharks, a must see! The wild life zoo is ok, nothing compared to the Taronga Zoo, the wax museum can be seen in any country, nothing special.

I’ve not been here before, so I made it on my last day while in Sydney. I bought the Sea Life and Wild Life combo tickets online and it was $65 for entries to both attractions. I booked in my entry time for Sea Life first and only after I had lunch, I booked in my entry time for Wild Life (I was advised you can enter about 15 minutes before your booked entry time). As I visited on a Thursday morning, it wasn’t that busy so they didn’t really restrict you to your entry time. I reckon on super busy days (like weekends, school holidays) you’d have to adhere to your time.
Overall, I enjoyed my 1.5 hours here at Sea Life and about 2 hours at Wild Life, just taking my time enjoying the marine life. I’m sure kids will enjoy it too and plus, it’s not too hard to find as it’s located at Darling Harbour on Barangaroo side.
=TIPS=
• Pre-book online for discounted tickets.

How big is Australia? Safe to say, it is pretty big. Picture Sydney, a bustling city, lying in the heart of New South Wales. It has an aquarium! I wonder what's in there, surely all kinds of creatures and underwater monsters? True, there where several varieties of fish and creatures in their dirty, dank tanks. Squint your eyes to peer into the murky water and you might just see something. Sydney aquarium is shoved right on the harbour, squeezed in between their other waste of money attractions. It's tiny. Absolutely tiny. I had the impression I could spend all day there, you know like other zoos from around the world? They really are day experiences. This took me one hour and I was glad to get out. I spent more time walking to their measly attractions, than actually looking at them. Tiny aquarium, a gold fish bowl is bigger than this. What happened? Why in Sydney, this massive place in Australia did they decide to shove a zoo, an aquarium and madame tussauds right next to each other? Maximise profit I guess. Anybody who reads this review, don't go, save your money, save your time.

Hi There,
Thank you for taking the time to review us.
Most of the tanks here at SEA LIFE Sydney pull water from Darling Harbour! During the filtering process the water can go a little foggy, making it harder for our guests to see our creatures. However, this means the creatures are able to live in happy healthy water!
Crystal clear water would be amazing, however our little fishies sadly would not survive in this.
It is disappointing to hear that you thought our aquarium was not big enough. Due to our position in the city we do not have the space to expand our aquarium much more. I hope you were able to enjoy all the zones we have inside the attraction including the Penguin Expedition Ride and the brand NEW Day and Night on the Reef zone!
Kind Regards.

Aquarium was not bad, but mot awe-inspiring. The hop on Hop off bus instructions were very unclear. We thought had two days to use it, but found out when we did go to use it on day two that it was only good for the previous day. We ended up getting on it, but because of the time of day, around 4 p.m., we couldn't get off, and basically just did an hour and a half long cruise around the harbour. At least they let us ride is the upside I guess! Nice scenery and views of the opera house and other sights, but a little disappointed about not being able to hop on and off.

We purchased the Sydney Attractions Pass & went to the Sydney Tower Eye, Wild Life Zoo & the Sea Life Aquarium. The pass was a great value as it would have cost a lot more if we were to purchase separately. We were very happy with all 3 places that we went to. They were all within walking distance of our hotel in Sydney Harbour. I would definitely recommend this pass & the attractions that we went to.

What a waste of time and money. We booked to go at 4.45pm. There were too many people inside at any one time and the queues to get around were ridiculous. We skipped one part altogether.

We began our day at the aquarium, entry was simple and easy, staff were friendly. Throughout our journey throughout the attraction, ramps were not very accessible due to limited width. Once getting to the top of the never-ending ramps, the fire alarm system went off, after a few minutes we were told to stand by for further instructions, the alarm system went off for over 10 minutes and was quite disruptive to our visit and led to sensory overload. In the end, the alarm was turned off and we were told to continue about our day.
Onto Madame Tussaud’s, exciting but loud music ruined the experience. We understand the importance of showing off these celebrities great work, but noise levels took away from the experience, as it was way too loud and led to lots of discomfort for a variety of guests of all ages and abilities.
Lastly, we visited the Wildlife park, this was by far the best experience out of the 3! It was quite, COVID protocols were in place, compared to limited social distancing in the aquarium earlier that morning. Animals were happy, and we thoroughly enjoyed our exploration throughout this attraction.

Hi Drivere00,
Thank you very much for your review – your feedback is incredibly important to us. We are truly sorry to read that your visit did not meet your expectations. Due to the age of the facility we have a number of ramps, rather than lifts through the attraction. I am sorry to hear about the fire alarm activation, I can't say the cause of the alarm without further information, however when we do have ana alarm activation we work as quickly as we can to determine the cause and ensure the safety of all occupants.
Should you wish to discuss your feedback further, please contact our Customer Services Team via SLSA.DM@merlinentertainments.com.au with a copy of your original review. Thanks, The SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium team.

Interesting and fun day out seeing underwater animals. Went with husband and 7.5 year old child, it is probably more geared towards younger preschool kids but still was plenty interesting for the older kids.
The attractions are what you would expect to see at an a aquarium with two "underwater" tunnels that you walk through with sea life swimming over you. There was loads of activity and the fish and other animals were beautiful.
Went on a bit of a quiet day earlier in the day (10:30) and there were little to no lines with not much congestion. Took about 1.5 hours on an easy pace. When we left around midday the line to get in was much longer and I would assume that the crowds would be much hectic than earlier in the day.
Overall a must do for locals and great for visitors as well. Did Madame Tussands right after the Aquarium with the Attraction pass and that was very fun! Nice way to spend a few hours in Darling Harbour.
