Our guide Tae took us on a walk around China town stopping at various culinary Asian marvels where we were offered a generous tasting dish in each restaurant. The food was fantastic and generous, ranging from Navi Lemak with Wagyu Rendang, to Portuguese Tarts and home made dumplings and noodles. You won’t leave hungry.
Tae also told us about China town’s history and landmarks. Fantastic way to have a bite, meet some people and learn something at the same time.
The profits of these tours are invested back into the community which gave Tae her job.

A fantastic tour through Sydney's Chinatown district. As locals we typically stick to the few favs, so this was a great way to explore some less obvious/known places. It was good to do it with another couple from the Sunshine Coast (out of towners). We had a great tour guide, Tirian, who shared insights about the 6 or so places we visited. He also has a wealth of asian cultural awareness and experiences (for a young guy) that he openly shared. Highly recommend and we will definitely be doing other tours in the future!

I went on the Taste of Chinatown tour & was more than pleasantly surprised by all the wonderful places we visited & the history we learnt.
I am born & bred in Sydney & have only been to this area a few times even though I work close by!
We have been back to one of the restaurants in the past month & the food was just as delicious as the first time.
This is a great tour to do as it helped us find out more about the area & explore things we wouldn’t normally try.
Thank you to Ivy as well, she was an awesome guide, we had a fun & fantastic time!!
The list of places we visited for recommendation are:
Topotea Tea Shop
Emperor’s Garden Cakes and Bakery
Chinatown Noodle King
Kowloon Cafe Shop

My mother and I decided to do a TASTE tour even though we live in Sydney. The tour was an absolute delight and apart from the amazing food - we learned so much about Chinatown itself as well as about the different regional foods of China. Patrick - our guide - was extremely knowledgable as well as being a charming young man. We also liked the ethical ethos of the company supporting refugees throughout the city. We would highly recommend this tour for locals like us as well as tourists to Sydney. Thank you TASTE !

I have been to Chinatown many times and for as long as I can remember but I had never experienced it like I did last night. Patrick is very knowledgable and provided history, background and anecdotes of the sites, architecture and restaurants making the night very enjoyable. The restaurants and the dishes were carefully selected to ensure we experienced the soul of their countries of origin. The amount of food served, the variety and the pace of the tour were perfect. Finishing off with the sculptural gelatos was truly the icing on the cake. I would recommend the tour if you want to have an unpretentious, adventurous Covid-safe night out in town.

Great to see an organisation such as Taste Tours giving locals and tourists an insight into different cultures and foods, and doing it so well! Living just 1km from Chinatown, I rarely venture into Chinatown except Paddy's Markets, as its daunting to know which restaurants are good, so this took all the guess work out of it and I found a few that I will definitely return to. Patrick (guide) was awesome, engaging and knows his stuff, definitely worth a try for those of us who miss Asia so much and just can't travel there at the moment. 100% recommended and would love to try another one in the West of Sydney as a result. Enjoy!

We really enjoyed our Taste of Chinatown tour. Our tour guide Christie was extremely knowledgable about the area, Asian culture and cuisine and all the food we tried was absolutely fantastic. She had put lots of thought into how to structure the tour with a mixture of walking, restaurants, bakeries, tea shops etc. And every place she took us to were all very local and authentic. Really cannot recommend this experience enough if you’re a foody and interested in learning more about Asian culture and cuisine

We booked this tour because we live very close to Chinatown and wanted to get to know the best restaurants in the area. The tour exceeded all our expectations. Our tour guide, Patrick, is a delight! He is knowledgeable, funny and generous — we now have a greater appreciation for the history of the area, and a bunch of new places to come back to.

We will book more Taste Tours in the future, and have recommended them to our friends and family.

Our son & his partner gave us this tour for Christmas 2019, so it was eagerly awaited through the interstate lockdown. We finally made it to Sydney & thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Christie was very knowledgeable about the Chinese history in Australia the buildings around Chinatown & also the food from different Asian countries we enjoyed eating. After hearing of the different types of noodles, hotpots & chilli or pepper heat of more dishes, we’ll be back to try them. The tour is over 3 hours & we tried Malaysian rendang beef, Korean spring onion chicken, a Chinese Tea Ceremony (our favourite) Chinese homemade noodles with chicken & veg, finished with lychee gelato. Abbie at the Chinese Tea Ceremony was terrific. She prepared a delicious green tea & told us about its origins & how to prepare it.
Our guide Christie was fabulous. Thank you for all of the stories, I enjoyed them all. Find out why Chinese people tap two bent fingers after tea is poured for them. I highly recommend this tour. We’ll try one of the others another trip down.
