      School tour - Amazing!
We took a school group of 50 students. It was an incredible insight into Multicultural Australia for our students who are from a regional area. Lots of delicious food and we met a range of interesting people. Highly recommended. We will definitely return next year!

      Explosive flavours and heartwarming stories
We walked to 6 different locations. Starting at Al Shami Restaurant, we tasted some amazing Fettah and Foul. The restaurant was beautifully decorated with some classic Fairouz music. Then we walked to a Persian supermarket and Afghani bakery to taste some freshly made bread. We then made our way to Kabul House to have lunch. We enjoyed some tasty lamb and rice sprinkled with raisins and Afghan styled meat dumplings in a yoghurt/dill sauce. The food was absolutely delicious. We then walked to another Persian supermarket that had a large selection of herbs and nuts. Our final stop was an Afghan dessert shop. We tried some carrot juice with Saffron ice cream and some traditional Afghan desserts. The tour guide was a beautiful young Afghani woman. She was so nice, vibrant and expressive. She shared stories from growing up in an Afghani household. Her passion for her heritage was very clear and heartwarming. I would recommend experiencing this tour if you've never had middle-eastern/afghan/persian food. The people on the tour with my husband and I were really sweet and everyone enjoyed each others company. Couldnt have been a better day spent with great people.

      Don't bother
I cannot recommend this tour. We met at a local restaurant and had a lobster taco, while it was delicious the lobster had been flown in from the US frozen. A short walk took us to a local bakery where one sausage roll was divided between 3 of us, a piece of gluten free chocolate cake was purchased as one person was Celiac and this was divided between the 4 of us on the tour. The third stop was at a delicious gelato shop and thankfully we each got our own small tub. The tour continued along the route described in the advert and we stopped for a drink at The Lord Nelson where each person could choose their beer and were given a half pint, thankfully there was no quibble when I asked for a glass of wine as I don't drink beer. A short walk around The Rocks and a stop for our guide to purchase some macarons and we headed to the Thai restaurant where the guide ordered 2 dishes for us to share. Whilst having suffered from being carried in the guides bag for a bit the rather bashed macarons tasted delicious. There was very little information imparted about the history of the areas we walked through or Australia in general and while our guide seems like a nice person she was not particularly engaging and was so softly spoken that it was difficult to hear her. We had treated my niece to this tour and found it embarrassing as it was not even close to the hype and we would have had a better afternoon if we had done our own thing.

A Delightful Stroll through Barangaroo and the Rocks
The ability to wander through Barangaroo and the Rocks conversing with Abdul our guide, being introduced to a combination of history and food ensured we had a great time. The food venues have been carefully chosen and we will most certainly be back.

      Knowledgeable guides and amazing food
Our two guides were so knowledgeable and we really appreciated them sharing their personal stories. All the food we tasted, in particular the Syrian food, was amazing. So culturally diverse in a hidden pocket of Sydney. Was great experience as a adult family group of 9

      Fantastic tour
We loved this tour, we were lucky to have Farhat as a guide and she is a lovely person. She took time to explain the customs and culture and to answer any questions we might have. We also got to taste some yummy food that we might not normally have had. I would recommend this tour 100%.

      Fabulous cultural and gastronomic fun
Noor’s tour of Cabramatta was delightful. She was full of energy, sharing her secrets - both where to eat, what to eat, and even how to cook things at home. So much fun. Highly recommend for Sydneysiders and visitors alike. You could have been anywhere in Asia.

A great tour with interesting flavours in an interesting suburb
We'd been meaning to do this tour in Harris Park for a long time, as we enjoy the new tastes that are part of a Taste tour. Until this week, the dates and/or times hadn't worked for us, but the Wednesday evening tour was a good alternative to a Saturday tour. The first course at ChatKazz was a perfect beginning, with tastes unknown to ordinary Sydney people. The visit to the grocery store was really interesting, but perhaps would be better at the end of the tour, so we could have searched for products that we had enjoyed eating. The Dosa was a "must do" menu item, that didn't disappoint. The kofta was a new experience that we definite hope to eat again. The walk to the temple that we couldn't actually see was a bit disappointing, but apart from that this was a great tour. Our guide was fastastic, and offered lots of insights into the preparation of the food we were eating, which increased our enjoyment even more.

      Brilliant!
A brilliant experience, made all the richer by our wonderful guide, Latife. She was personable, knowledgeable, passionate about her subject matter, and had some very nice touches to the tour, such as providing us with tea and "mystery tastings". I would strongly recommend this tour to all comers.

      Best Food Ever!
My wife and I travel a fair amount, and very often use food tours to familiarize ourselves with a new city. We agree that the overall food on this tour - from the first stop to the last - was the best we've ever had. Our guide was also awesome.

We really enjoyed our Taste of Chinatown tour. Our tour guide Christie was extremely knowledgable about the area, Asian culture and cuisine and all the food we tried was absolutely fantastic. She had put lots of thought into how to structure the tour with a mixture of walking, restaurants, bakeries, tea shops etc. And every place she took us to were all very local and authentic. Really cannot recommend this experience enough if you’re a foody and interested in learning more about Asian culture and cuisine

I went on the Taste of Chinatown tour & was more than pleasantly surprised by all the wonderful places we visited & the history we learnt.
I am born & bred in Sydney & have only been to this area a few times even though I work close by!
We have been back to one of the restaurants in the past month & the food was just as delicious as the first time.
This is a great tour to do as it helped us find out more about the area & explore things we wouldn’t normally try.
Thank you to Ivy as well, she was an awesome guide, we had a fun & fantastic time!!
The list of places we visited for recommendation are:
    Topotea Tea Shop
    Emperor’s Garden Cakes and Bakery
    Chinatown Noodle King
    Kowloon Cafe Shop

Great to see an organisation such as Taste Tours giving locals and tourists an insight into different cultures and foods, and doing it so well! Living just 1km from Chinatown, I rarely venture into Chinatown except Paddy's Markets, as its daunting to know which restaurants are good, so this took all the guess work out of it and I found a few that I will definitely return to. Patrick (guide) was awesome, engaging and knows his stuff, definitely worth a try for those of us who miss Asia so much and just can't travel there at the moment. 100% recommended and would love to try another one in the West of Sydney as a result. Enjoy!

Our guide Tae took us on a walk around China town stopping at various culinary Asian marvels where we were offered a generous tasting dish in each restaurant. The food was fantastic and generous, ranging from Navi Lemak with Wagyu Rendang, to Portuguese Tarts and home made dumplings and noodles. You won’t leave hungry.
Tae also told us about China town’s history and landmarks. Fantastic way to have a bite, meet some people and learn something at the same time.
The profits of these tours are invested back into the community which gave Tae her job.

Our son & his partner gave us this tour for Christmas 2019, so it was eagerly awaited through the interstate lockdown. We finally made it to Sydney & thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Christie was very knowledgeable about the Chinese history in Australia the buildings around Chinatown & also the food from different Asian countries we enjoyed eating. After hearing of the different types of noodles, hotpots & chilli or pepper heat of more dishes, we’ll be back to try them. The tour is over 3 hours & we tried Malaysian rendang beef, Korean spring onion chicken, a Chinese Tea Ceremony (our favourite) Chinese homemade noodles with chicken & veg, finished with lychee gelato. Abbie at the Chinese Tea Ceremony was terrific. She prepared a delicious green tea & told us about its origins & how to prepare it.
Our guide Christie was fabulous. Thank you for all of the stories, I enjoyed them all. Find out why Chinese people tap two bent fingers after tea is poured for them. I highly recommend this tour. We’ll try one of the others another trip down.
