A very enjoyable day out
Mar 2020
My partner and I had a great time on this tour. We enjoyed all 3 wineries we visited, the hosts at the wineries were well prepared for our visit and very informative and engaging regarding their wines and the region around them. The cheese tasting and chocolate shop visit was a nice addition to the tour to round out a great day. The lunch was very nice, with a good choice of food on the menu and at a lovely location. Our bus driver, Jim, was a friendly host, he drove well, was very knowledgeable of Sydney history and the surrounds. He was kind enough to stop off and let the international visitors admire kangaroos in their natural habitat. And the stop off at the truck stop on the way to and from the Hunter Valley were also appreciated.
I would highly recommend this tour and would go on another tour with this company.

Nice Day
Nov 2019
Our tour guide was great. The day was longer than we expected due to traffic. The wineries and people were very nice. We weren't thrilled with the wines, but know that we have high standards based on our wine preferences. Recommend this tour if you're interested in getting outside of the city and want to see and experience more of Australia.

Thanks for your review of our Hunter Valley day tour! We're glad to hear you had a great day out experiencing what this part of Australia has to offer. Unfortunately at this time of year when there are lots of holidaymakers on the roads, it can cause some delays. We hope you enjoyed getting out of the city though and experiencing some of the wine and local produce the Hunter region has to offer. All the best for your 2020, the Activity Tours team.

Wonderful Trip. Brilliant Guide.
Dec 2019 • Solo
Chris who was our driver and guide for the day trip to Hunter Valley was fantastic! He was a natural, sensitive to our needs, sharing great information on the tour and helping with photo taking (if required).

He made sure we were comfortable with bottled water, an onboard fridge as well as strategic stops along the way so we could use the washroom and grab a coffee.

The tour itself was well worth it. We visited three vineyards; each with its own character. The wine tasting was generous
with a good variety of wines for everyone to try. No pressure to buy. Cheese and chocolate tasting were wonderful, too.

My tour included lunch at a cafe in Hunter Valley and it was good.

Our group had a brilliant time. Thank you Chris for a top day out.

Great small group tour experience of the Hunter!
Nov 2019
My wife and I were part of a relatively small group (10 in total) and the tour description + previous reviews are all accurate - you'll visit three wineries with plenty of tastings, as well as a visit to a local cheese and chocolate shop. Obviously the wines offered had a local focus (prepare yourself for Semillons!), with a fair balance of whites and reds.

Lunch was very solid at a local cafe as well, and you'll have plenty of options to choose from.

Our tour guide and driver, Jason, was hilarious and made the long ride to and from the Hunter (as well as all of the rides in between) enjoyably bearable. If you happen to have him as your guide, you'll definitely enjoy the day!

As a solo traveller I decided to join this group activity and although everyone else had joined with friends I was made very welcome.our guide/driver Chris was very knowledgable and pointed out interesting things on the drive up to Hunter, where we then visited 3 excellent winery’s and tried plenty of wine. The lunch was great as was the chocolate and cheese shops.
Really was a great day out.

El vino did flow...
Nov 2019 • Couples
This is an awesome trip and worth every penny. We were picked up by our Aussie guide Steve in the morning at the agreed pick up, and then had a two hour trip up to the Hunter Valley (brief 15 min coffee stop in the middle). Steve was very knowledgable and taught us a lot about the country, and the Hunter Valley in particular, all with a dash of Aussie humour thrown in.

We went to three wineries - two in the morning, one in the avo (picking up the lingo). All gave a range of whites, rose’s and reds, and tailored the tasting to the group’s preferences. We also managed to squeeze another two wine tastings in at the lunch stop - in the Hunter valley gardens - bringing our total glasses across the day to 35 by my reckoning. Lunch at the cafe wasn’t gourmet but was satisfying, and there was a range of options to suit everyone.

All in all a great day out with good company (group size of 14), the highlights being seeing some wild kangaroos hopping around the Ernest Hill vineyard, and the fizzy Malbec at Savannah estate!

Couldn’t recommend this tour enough, especially if you are to get Steve as your local guide!

Thanks for your review of our Hunter Valley day tour. Very impressed by your Aussie lingo, too! It sounds like you had a fabulous day out with Steve and got to experience a range of wineries and vino across the day. Bonus re: the kangaroos, too! Thanks again and all the best - have a great arvo! ;) The Activity Tours team.

We Enjoyed Two Out of the Three Wineries
Sep 2019
Our guide Scotty was excellent -- friendly, talkative, and informative. I got the impression that he wasn't much of a wine lover himself; however, he listens to his past guests when he schedules his winery stops. We disliked our first stop, Iron Gate, because the wines were so-so and the person leading the tasting seemed uninterested. Everything got better from there. Our visit to Allandale was fantastic, especially when the vintner himself stepped in to lead the tasting. The wines were the best at this stop. We also enjoyed our stop at Mount View with its gorgeous location; an expert led a relaxed outdoor tasting there. Because some people were no longer interested and wandered off to enjoy the countryside, the tasting was much more intimate there, and we even got to taste some port-like wines that aren't normally part of the tasting.

The Smelly Cheese Shop was a hoot, thanks to a whacky employee who directed the tasting. We even got to see kangaroos alongside the road. Even lunch was good.

Some people brought their kids with them on this tour, something I found inappropriate, but the kids behaved beautifully. It was a long day, but we're glad we booked this trip.

We really value you taking the time to mention this, so that we can improve our offering based on your experience. All the best for the rest of your time here, the Activity Tours team.
