About
Exploring the underwater world of Bermuda is made easy with the use of a Harley diving helmet. Transport to the reef is provided aboard a fully equipped glass-bottom boat, with ladder access to the seawalk. Your guide provides a safety briefing before the interactive activity and points out a variety of fish while you stroll along the seafloor. It’s simpler than snorkeling and scuba diving.

A note from Hartley Helmet Diving in Bermuda
Since 1947 all divers have their own separate hose and helmet with filtered Bermuda air. Helmets have always been washed with soapy water to prevent window fogging. Soap and water washes away bacteria and dissolves the the lipid bubble surrounding the viral information. Fresh air and sunshine abound

Make this your #1 activity in Bermuda! This was am AMAZING experience & the highlight of our week in Bermuda. Captain Greg Hartley is as entertaining as the incredible Helmet Dive & you will have a lot of fun & learn a lot about the sea life you will see on your dive. We will do this dive every time we go to Bermuda ! Put this at the top of your Bucket List !

What an amazing adventure!! I would recommend to anyone visiting Bermuda because it is such a unique/special experience and well worth the $$. We felt safe at all times and shared lots of laughs on the boat. Thank you very much to Captain Greg and first-mate Ben for creating a day we will never forget (and for taking some AWESOME photos of us and the fish under water). A great, great trip.

We did a helmet dive and the Hartley's were excellent hosts. There was plenty of time for questions and they took time to explain what we were going to see and how the dive works. As we got underwater, it was very easy and calm, with an amazing world to see. We saw many fish, coral and sea life, as well as an eel! We were on the Norwegian Breakaway cruise to Bermuda and we booked this on trip advisor. The experience is well worth it and amazing memories. We recommend getting the underwater photos, which also includes some of Greg's best historical fish photos.

What a wonderful experience for my girls! Greg really knows marine biology! Besides seeing and touching the fish you learn a lot about Bermuda and the reef. My youngest daughter went into this thinking she wasn’t going to do it because she is scared of fish and did it! Greg is very understanding, patient, and trustworthy that my daughter changed her mind. Definitely a great experience.

Thanks for your wonderful review. I do not know much marine biology, only some. That which I know may be different from what others know, so it seems I know a lot. However, I know only different. Many experiences are subjective. You get out of it what you put in. Your enjoyment has been your creation. We just added water and stirred. Thanks again. Please spread the word.

Today my husband and I spent a whole morning helmet diving with Mr Hartley and his son Ben and I just cannot recommend it more! If you are coming to Bermuda, even for a few days, this is an activity that you absolutely cannot miss!

What is great about it is that you can enjoy this unique experience even if you cannot swim. We felt perfectly safe at all times with Mr Hartley and his son who did a great job in making this experience memorable for us. There were plenty of stories told, fish to pet and feed, photo time and simply an opportunity to become a part of the wonderful underwater world for 40 minutes. Diving in a helmet was comfortable and it did not require any previous experience. We will definitely be coming back for more diving in the future when we come to Bermuda again! Thank you so much, Mr Hartley!

My wife and I joined Greg, Ben and several other guests a few weeks ago and had an incredible experience! We have had the good fortune of enjoying many unique and memorable experiences around the world and helmet diving was absolutely one to remember. First off be assured that you will feel 100% safe with the dive site located in warm, calm waters close enough to shore to reassure those insecure with the sea. Greg does an excellent job with a pre dive education and introduction session, further providing an additional layer of assurance.

For the dive itself, it’s super easy and not at all uncomfortable. While it takes a second or 2 to clear your ears once you’ve descended to the bottom of the reef (in our case 16 feet during high tide), there is no discomfort (or I’m my case claustrophobic feelings). Once you’re down the ladder, the experience takes off as you take in the numerous fish, coral and even an incredibly beautiful Moray eel coming by to say hello! With at least 45 minutes below the ocean, we had ample time to experience the incredible serenity and beauty of the reef. I can’t stress enough how unique, peaceful and inspiring this experience was!

On a final note….As tourists we felt privileged to enjoy not only our dive, but the Island itself in relative isolation. However we recognize that this isolation comes as a result of very difficult circumstances for many tour operators, taxi drivers, servers and small business owners like Greg. Regardless of where you find yourself, take the time to perhaps be more adventurous and generous than you might otherwise be inclined as so many in the travel and tourism industry are finding things very trying at the moment.

Wow, Dulmage! What a thorough review. Flotsam missed one dive the day before yesterday, but showed for the single dive we had yesterday. He is so awesome because fun is perceived danger willingly approached. Eels have a reputation, so many are afraid of them (The Deep). This makes interacting with them a thrill. Thanks also for visiting Bermuda, in such trying times. We will see you again, when circumstances permit

Awesome! Our family of four greatly enjoyed this experience. Highly recommend. We live in Bermuda, but this was the first time helmet diving for my husband and teen kids. The arrangements were seamless, and it was a great pleasure to meet Greg and his son Ben. Greg taught us about the history of helmet diving on our way out to the reef, and on the ocean floor he used clever word sticks to point out different fish and corals. We were each able to feed and pet some beautiful fish and even feed a teeny tiny shrimp that lives on the anemone. The slight magnification on the helmet allowed us to see everything so clearly. Greg did a fun family photo shoot on the ocean floor, along with our new fish friends. Overall, a unique and wonderful experience!

Greg Hartley, the fish whisperer, is a hoot. He led us on a great adventure under the sea. Our party of 7 with a variety of ages was managed with great ease. All ages learned about the amazing sea, fish life and life in general on this trip. It was the third visit for 2 people in the party, the second visit (30 years apart) for 2 people and the first (but not last visit) for 3 people in the party. Would not hesitate to do it again. If you see the beautiful ocean while visiting Bermuda and wonder what's underneath it all, Harley's Helmet Diving is the way to see it and understand it.

Thanks David for the glowing review. Yes! Please come again another year. You do need some time to go by so the buzz wears off. Then it seems new and exciting again. Now we need more people to come to Bermuda.

Greg is an excellent host/guide. We dive with him (almost) every time we come to Bermuda It's fun seeing newbie's apprehension on the ride out to the reef and the excitement when they come back out of the water.

I strongly recommend getting the pictures too. Years later, you'll really appreciate them

We had an incredible experience which was just magical for our family. I live on Island and can honestly say in my 40 plus years in Bermuda this is my favorite experience of all. The experience opens your mind up to another world and allows you to have close encounters with a variety of sea creates which is just amazing.
