A can't miss opportunity to explore under the sea.
We book our trip on the internet and had a great time. The groups were very small, and the guide was really great. We had a short training film and discussion before venturing into the sea. We interacted with the fish and other sea creatures. We feed the fish and some of them were trained to be touched. We also purchased the video which was a little pricey. It is a great way to show our friends what they missed out on.

Worth EVERY penny of the cost! A MUST DO ADVENTURE!
Greg and his son helped to make this an amazing adventure! Their knowledge of the fish and coral and the way they were able to share it was wonderful! We spent almost 55 minutes under the water experiencing Bermuda at its best. Greg made sure we all felt comfortable with the equipment and fully explained what we were going to experience. Neither Jill or I hesitated once the helmet was placed on our shoulders. We had never done anything like a helmet dive in our past 60 some odd years, but we will do it again! Thank you both for a wonderful experience! Jill and John

      Completely fantastic!
Let me bottom line this for you: if this looks even remotely appealing to you but you have hesitations- book it immediately without concern! I’m not the most adventurous person in the world, but this looked so fun and interesting that I knew I had to try it. I talked my husband and 5 friends into joining me. One of our party was fairly nervous, a couple were slightly nervous and the rest of us were excited. What’s so cool is that every one of us came out of it LOVING the experience. We were out from 9:30am until around 1:30pm and just had a blast. The group gets divided into smaller groups so that 5-6 people dive at a time, which gives you time to catch some sun and/or (as we did) float/swim in the gorgeous water while you wait. We were under for about 40 mins and I wish it was longer. it wasn’t difficult or scary- just had to adjust to the pressure changes in a similar way to Flying. It was beautiful, educational and a total thrill. Greg was incredibly passionate, knowledgeable, and dedicated to each person having a great experience. Can’t wait to do it again someday! Oh, and go ahead and spring for the pics, you’ll regret it if you don’t.

      Amazing experience!!
As someone who is not a great swimmer I was a little apprehensive when booking. Have no fear!!!! Greg the owner is amazing, calm, reassuring and very very entertaining. He talks you through exactly what to expect, but doesn´t tell you how blown away you will be when you get to the seafloor. Surrounded by beautiful fish and lovely turquoise waters, it’s like nothing else I have ever experienced. He provides snacks, drinks and entertaining stories while on the boat- definitely one of my favourite people to have met in Bermuda.

      Great adventure
This is a great experience. Greg is very easy to work with and he will guide you each step of the way. Don't be afraid to ask questions if you don't understand the process of the dive, he will explain everything to you. And if you are uncomfortable at any time you can go back to the boat, but I think once you get down there and see there is nothing to worry about you will love and embrace the journey.

One of the Best Experiences of my Life!
This truly was an amazing experience that I won't say was once in a lifetime because I plan on going back! First things first, it doesn't matter if you are athletic, or like me, someone that would rather not go to the gym, you CAN do this! Gregg takes great care in making sure you are comfortable so that you can enjoy what you are about to see. You can tell it is important to him for you to have an incredible experience and see the beauty in the water. What you get to see is truly beautiful! You are on the ocean floor and therefore can relax and not have to work to see the fish, coral, and all of the other living wonder below the surface. I have snorkeled many times and hands down this is so much better! The only thing I wish I would have been different is that I had a go pro so I could video all of it!!!! Next time! Put this place on your list of "Must-dos" in Bermuda, you won't be disappointed!

It was ok but a little pricey for what you got.
Mr. Hartley the younger is an interesting person and tries to make your time on his boat fun. It's just that when you arrive at his prepared location it's pretty much a staged underwater event. Fun but a little pricey.

      Wonderful Experience
We have been to Bermuda a few times and always wanted to to the tour but I was a little nervous with my son being so young. Now that he is 7 we were a little more comfortable with the idea, and I am so glad that we did it. The captain does such a good job explaining everything and took such great care of him! Such an incredible experience to see the reef, all the fish, and having pictures and video as well! Thank you Captain Greg!

      A must do in bermuda
I took my wife and daughter on Greg's tour and we had the best time. Greg and ben made it an enjoyable trip from the moment we left dock to moment we got back. Greg k ow these fish like they are his kids. They come right up to you and let you pet them and take pics. He even had a stand all set up for my go pro. These guys have done this a million times so they know how you can get the maximum enjoyment. I just rewatched the video and I'm smiling the whole time. So worth it.

      amazing experience!
this experience was so much fun for us (on our honeymoon)...once in a lifetime photographs to last a lifetime. Side note (you have to buy the pictures & USB stick - but you not only get your own pictures but some really awesome historical ones - OH and videos!) People we have sent them to think they are photoshopped :) We don't want to give anything away, but the videos and the tricks undersea are truly awesome. Ben (who we later found out - not through the boat - but online - that he is the Captain's son - is hilarious and we truly enjoyed talking with him!) GREAT COMPRISE BETWEEN SNORKELLING AND SCUBA DIVING!!!

      Unique experience
A very unique activity, not possible to do in many parts of the world. Reasonable price. I am not comfortable in water and simply wanted some reassurance from the crew before literally putting my life in their hands. The safety briefing was a toxic mix of philosophy, psychology and a lot of completely irrelevant stuff. It went on and on and honestly, at the end of it, I just COULD NOT remember the dos and do nots. The safety briefing as it says on the tin MUST be a safety briefing i.e. clear, concise, to the point and if possible the understanding of the "sea bed walkers" should be tested at the end. I simply chickened out but was later reassured by Ben (The owner's son) and am glad I went under water to see the wonders of the nature. Worth doing if you are in Bermuda, as it is quite a unique and unusual activity.

MUST DO!!! What a great experience. Greg and Ben are some of the most genuine people I've met. On the ride out, Greg educates with pictures of what we'll see and lets you know what to expect. They have this down to a science, they really take care of you. We had two groups going down - 1 group at a time, we had absolutely perfect weather, we got to hang out on the top of the boat while we waited for the other group. It's very educational, you can clearly see their passion. I went with my 17 and 20 year old daughters and they said this is something they would never forget

We did a helmet dive and the Hartley's were excellent hosts. There was plenty of time for questions and they took time to explain what we were going to see and how the dive works. As we got underwater, it was very easy and calm, with an amazing world to see. We saw many fish, coral and sea life, as well as an eel! We were on the Norwegian Breakaway cruise to Bermuda and we booked this on trip advisor. The experience is well worth it and amazing memories. We recommend getting the underwater photos, which also includes some of Greg's best historical fish photos.

What a wonderful experience for my girls! Greg really knows marine biology! Besides seeing and touching the fish you learn a lot about Bermuda and the reef. My youngest daughter went into this thinking she wasn’t going to do it because she is scared of fish and did it! Greg is very understanding, patient, and trustworthy that my daughter changed her mind. Definitely a great experience.

Thanks for your wonderful review. I do not know much marine biology, only some. That which I know may be different from what others know, so it seems I know a lot. However, I know only different. Many experiences are subjective. You get out of it what you put in. Your enjoyment has been your creation. We just added water and stirred. Thanks again. Please spread the word.

Awesome! Our family of four greatly enjoyed this experience. Highly recommend. We live in Bermuda, but this was the first time helmet diving for my husband and teen kids. The arrangements were seamless, and it was a great pleasure to meet Greg and his son Ben. Greg taught us about the history of helmet diving on our way out to the reef, and on the ocean floor he used clever word sticks to point out different fish and corals. We were each able to feed and pet some beautiful fish and even feed a teeny tiny shrimp that lives on the anemone. The slight magnification on the helmet allowed us to see everything so clearly. Greg did a fun family photo shoot on the ocean floor, along with our new fish friends. Overall, a unique and wonderful experience!

This is definitely the must-go activity in Bermuda! We have a family of 8, from 8yr to 70yr. Some of members never learn swimming and never would imagine themselves underwater. But captain Greg made it come true!
During the ride, captain Greg shared the history of the family business, back to his father and grandfather. Then he showed some customers pictures (with dog/cat underwear too) to ensure we would be totally safe during the trip. When we arrived the location, Greg and his son Ben helped us professionally to get to the sea bottom. My parents don’t understand English at all but Greg still nicely helped them out.
When we all arrived bottom, the fish were immediately around us, they surely know their friend Greg! It was truly amazing to see and touch snappers, starfishes, eels, sea cucumbers and coral reefs at such a close way. Also, Greg took all pictures and videos for us patiently. We were so lucky to only have two teams on the same ride, so each team had about 50 minutes to stay underwater. What a precious experience we have!
All family are so happy with the trip and highly recommend to anyone who never dived before. The whole experience won’t let you down!

Thank you for taking Gino & I out for an unforgettable adventure, it was the highlight of our trip! The knowledge you have of the area, undersea life, corals, fish and the trust/relationship they show with you is so incredible to see. I was honestly pretty nervous as I’m not a strong swimmer, but quickly realized it’s really not necessary for this excursion and your confidence and experience shines through any worries I had about diving. Captain Greg & son, thank you for sharing this special tour with us, it was a one of a kind experience we hope to visit again!

Tourists, some travel planning insight, this was the perfect activity in the 3ish hour range. Wether your visiting on a cruise or staying at a resort (we were staying at Grotto Bay and took the orange line ferry from St George to the Naval Dockyards- then took the bus back through Hamilton, it was a great day touring the island from every mode of transportation!) Book the tour, buy the pictures add-on to be able to share with your fam & friends to show them what you did as this is what you will be talking about from your visit to Bermuda! 🤩

*Also, side note as small family business owners ourselves- support this local family business by sharing with friends visiting Bermuda, book directly with them & come back to show them some love in the reviews :)

Today my husband and I spent a whole morning helmet diving with Mr Hartley and his son Ben and I just cannot recommend it more! If you are coming to Bermuda, even for a few days, this is an activity that you absolutely cannot miss!

What is great about it is that you can enjoy this unique experience even if you cannot swim. We felt perfectly safe at all times with Mr Hartley and his son who did a great job in making this experience memorable for us. There were plenty of stories told, fish to pet and feed, photo time and simply an opportunity to become a part of the wonderful underwater world for 40 minutes. Diving in a helmet was comfortable and it did not require any previous experience. We will definitely be coming back for more diving in the future when we come to Bermuda again! Thank you so much, Mr Hartley!

My partner and I had a fantastic time on this undersea walk last Friday. Our small group set out promptly at 9am. On the way, we were given a detailed primer on how the walk would go, and what we would see. The walk itself was a unique experience, made more special by the amount of time we were able to spend underwater. The Hartleys are great at what they do, and were full of information and easy to talk to. On the way back, we enjoyed sitting on the top deck, relaxing the sea breeze and taking in the amazing views. I recommend getting the picture package with USB drive: you get great pictures of your group, pictures of the sea life you just saw, and some great historical gems as well.

It has taken generations of hospitality, friendliness & love to build this experience into a TOP SHELF must do, when visiting Bermuda.

Greg, The Fish Whisperer, truly takes to heart the interaction with undersea nature. He is fun, intelligent, knowledgeable & a jokester who is fantastic with children & adults alike.

I watched him calm those with reservations. These are the same ones who are overjoyed Greg took the time to walk them through this Once-in-a-Lifetime walk in the underwater sand.

He teaches with compassion for the sea creatures he loves. His son is equally as caring, helpful and kind.

I make this same trip 30 years ago with Greg…. He’s just as passionate today as he was then. Don’t miss the opportunity to take the plunge with Hartley’s Sea Walk!!!

Thanks for rave review. However, due to cranial enlargement, I will need a bigger diving helmet! I would prefer you come more often than every 30 years. Thanks for the return visit. We look forward to the next Once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Greg and his son Ben were great hosts for the experience. They were knowledgeable and made us feel safe and secure during the entire experience. The best part was being able to touch the marine life at the reef and being able to bring my go pro to take videos. I would highly recommend this experience for all tourist visiting Bermuda as it required minimal experience and you get the same experience as scuba diving.
