- gurow75700Fantastic!We had a perfect stay at this place. The wine and the kitchen- fantastic!! A little hidden diamond in the middle of the best winedistrict.
- leenuleenu10000Amazing winery with good wines and really cute roomsOur friend suggested to visit Massimago while our stay in Italy. It was a lovely experience! The winery is just a short drive (ca 30 min) from Verona up to a hill. The location is really nice and the place itself is very well taken care of. We decided to stay over night and booked a room on the website. Really convenient. Once we were there, we started to check in and heard that the wine tasting is starting immediately so we asked if we could join and was of course welcomed to do that. So we left the check in for later and went to wine tasting. Matt, one of the workers, spoke fluent English (lived in Canada for a long period) and was really a nice guy and showed us around and answered all our questions. We tasted Mago (a brut Rose) and another white wine outside but since it was so hot went for inside to taste reds. The wine basement table was served with chees and prociutto and it was really a nice atmosphere there. All in all I really suggest to do the wine tasting once you are at Massimago. After the tasting we were quicky checked in to our lovely old style room. The decor was really neat, old style but cosy and clean. It seemed like you were in somebody's house visiting not in a wine mansion. We even forgot to lock the door of our room. The place has a really lovely pool and areas to relax. We signed up for a dinner as well that offered either 9 or 7 course meal. We took the 7 course one and were really pleased. The food was great and wines paired really well. What a great experience and would really recommend visiting Massimago winery!
- vanessat14900Wonderful wine and food experience! This was such a wonderful Wine & Food experience at an unique location. The place is very quiet and the view over the vineyards is just beautiful. They have a big garden (which Francesco is taking very good care of with a lot of love), an inviting swimming-pool with a top-view over the vineyards and a lot more. Alessandra was so kind to show us around the house, telling us a lot about its history and so much more. She’s a very kind person and an excellent host. Initially, we just pre-booked a Wine Tasting with cheese and a bit of dry-meat. However, Edwin (the chef) recommended that we should choose a 4-course Menu instead. We’re so happy we did. For cooking, they used their own vegetables from the garden as well as the wine we were having to each dish. It simply was outstanding cookery. At the time, we were the only guests and decided to have lunch directly in the wine-cellar which was georges and definitely added up to the whole authentic experience. For the first course, we had a very refreshing sparkling wine (rosé) from which we simply had to buy a carton because it was so good. The following courses were simply a delight too. If we had to come up with some downsides (which there weren’t really any), we can only mention the driveway up to the winery which was a bit too much of a country road for our sports car - but we managed it anyway. What’s more, we’re sad that we had to leave so soon, getting to the next Wine-Tasting on time. All together, it simply was an exceptional experience and we highly recommend the place to go for a visit. Thank you Alessandra, Edwin & Francesco & Team
- CarloVItalia00So much to say so little time!Great location, great food...however...we stayed two nights, we were offered a complimentary glass of Luke warm white wine upon our arrival. Our accommodations were fine, but way over priced for a room without air conditioning. The person who was to clean the room the next day had called in sick, which was no big deal but the staff should have informed the guests of the situation and at least offered fresh towels. We also chose a fixed price menu for dinner the first night for €89 euro per person with wine pairings. ( they also had a €59 option with two less courses) The food was exceptional as they have a new creative chef but the wine pours were extremely meager. We probably would have done a second dinner the following night but basically €180 a couple is way over priced. I totally understand that they are making necessary changes to improve the client experience but they need to recognize that if you are going to charge Ritz Carlton prices you better damn well deliver on Ritz Carlton quality, service and accommodations. On a final note, surprisingly we were not even offered a tour of the winery or an opportunity to taste any of their other offerings, or for that matter the opportunity to buy their products. We love and want to support these smaller wineries but they really need to get their act together give greater value and also be a little less greedy.
- Rabs2200One of the most amazing wine experiencesWe have done a lot of wine tastings over the years but this one was special. When we arrived Giuseppe was there to greet us. Before our visit he was wonderful with corresponding with me over email and was even better as a host in person. Every wine we had got better and better. We were shocked by the delicate taste of the pink Prosecco made from Amarone grapes. The Amarone, which we really came here for was easily the best we have ever had. Back to Giuseppe who I truly want to thank for making this a special experience. You can have amazing wines but without friendly and knowledgeable hospitality you can’t have a great wine experience. Luckily for us we had it all. One quick note. Our WAZE gps got us a bit lost so take not of this if you are trying to get to the winery.
- MaggieJL00Fabulous tranquil hotel stayA group of 7 of us stayed for 3 nights to celebrate my mother's 85th birthday. The rooms are gorgeous, clean, and perfectly functional. Some of the rooms have a small kitchen area and cooking facilities. All rooms had a fan for the hot evenings, and some had air conditioning. The gardens and pool are perfectly tranquil, overlooking the vineyards. The Massimago wine that we purchased was delicious. Gloria, the hostess, was wonderfully welcoming and very helpful with regard to restaurant reservations, as there is no restaurant on site. Breakfast each morning in the garden, was a delicious feast of croissant, bread, fruit, ham and cheese, yogurt, cereal and even eggs cooked to your taste! The wifi worked fine for all of us.
- 51rik00Elegant organic winesWe arrived without a booking for the wine tasting but were lucky enough to be greeted by Gloria who was only too happy to oblige. We started with the fresh and fruity (unoaked) Garganega. A beautiful crisp and refreshing wine, perfect for a hot day in the Italian countryside. Then Gloria poured out some Mago, a stunning sparkling rose. Although it is made using the Charmat method, it is more reminiscent of a Franciacorta (made in the Traditional method) than Prosecco. In fact it has nothing in common with the light and unstructured Proseccos that seem to have flooded the market. Pure class. For the reds, the owner Camilla, took over the tasting and described her reds with pure passion. The wines are 100% organic and the vineyards are protected from nearby non-organic agriculture by surrounding woods and forest. One really has to admire what she has done in a short space of time. We moved straight to the Profasio, which is a Valpolicella Superiore. It has great structure and is a beautiful full-bodied wine, but is not overpowered by oak or alcohol. Pure elegance. We then tasted the two Amarones, once again, they were wonderfully balanced full-bodied wine, without being syrupy or overly jammy. It was probably too hot that day to fully appreciate the Amarone, but I could definitely picture sipping these by a fire after an action-packed day on the ski slopes! If you visit only one winery in the region, this is the one to go to.
- DanGrayMTB00Excellent wine! This place is simply out of this world! Awesome wine relais on the hills just outside Verona. Their wine is supreme. I definitely recommend the Mago', you won't be disappointed!
- GillyTravelBug00Gorgeous wine!We stopped in here for some wine tasting as recommended by a friend......Unfortunately we did not have a reservation and it was closed. (make sure you check the opening times on the website!) However, one of the house keepers from the inn was gracious enough to open up the wine room for us an poured us some wines to taste. Everything they have is organic and these ended up being some of the best wines that we tasted on our trip in Italy. Verona is the region known for their Amarone wine and Massimago did not disappoint. Had I looked up the winery ahead of time I would have booked us in to stay at the vineyard as they have a B&B! Next time. :)

My husband gave me a wine trails round Europe book for Christmas. We were in Italy in for a wedding and found this relais in the book and decided to book a couple of nights stay to chill. Well, we did just that!
The staff were extremely helpful and kind, they couldn't do enough for us. The room was lovely and large. We did the wine tasting with Susanna who was fluent in English and very knowledgeable about the wine and area. The taster menu and wine pairing was a delight! Beautiful views from the pool over the vineyards.
To note, the restaurant is closed on Monday and for lunch on Tuesday. There is a lovely restaurant nearby (Tratroria la Torre) which was excellent. The spa is open only during the cooler months rather than the summer. No air-con in our room but there was a free-standing unit.
Thank you for making our stay so welcoming! Highly recommended.

We had an amazing time visiting. The wine was great, people were really kind and explain a lot about how the wine was made, plus the breathtaking view in the middle of the wine fields. Definitely want to come back to stay a weekend.

We were lucky enough to get a tasting for just the two of us. Matt was friendly and informative, making our visit very pleasant. Four wines, olive oil and meat and cheese platter. Beautiful views of the Valpolicella region. Would highly recommend.
