Superb Overview of Castelli Romani Region

Our guide Pier is truly a Renaissance man; he is very well versed in the history, culture, geography, food, music, and natural areas of the Castelli Romani region of Italy southeast of Rome. He took us on a driving excursion stopping at several of the area's towns and villages and narrating as we drove. We sampled area wine and foods along the way. He also allowed us a few minutes to shop for gifts in the towns we stopped in. After our tour he offered advice on other things to see and do and where to dine. Pier was very personable and welcoming, and his car, which we toured in, was very clean. My husband and I highly recommend his tour. The area is beautiful and is famous for their white wine, strawberries, and other produce (such as pears, olives, Hazelnuts, chestnuts and pork). The tour is well worth the booking fee and gives you a superb overview of the region. Pier's tour made us want to see more of the region!

This is a fantastic tour of the close by country side of Rome. Easily accessible by train from Termini Roma….25 min ride to Frescati where you will meet the tour guide, Pier. A truly authentic guide who is a local passionate of his region. He took us through Castel Gandolfo, Nemi and Frascati. Beautiful small Italian villages with spectacular views. Pier was so personable and kind. He took the time to explain the « in’s and out’s » of each village. We were so jet lagged upon our arrival the day before…but Pier’s tour energized us as it was so interesting and educational. We missed the 1st train to Frescati as we were on the wrong platform. Pier was kind enough to wait for us and delay our tour by 1 hour. Thank you Pier for transferring the love of your region to us. The best and nicest guide you can have. Recommend 1000%! The highlight of my trip :)

Quintessential Delight!

Authentic. Soulful. Passionate. Pier entices your senses and sensibilities with his verve for the Italian landscapes of life. We felt immersed in the culture as he described with wild abandon the love of community found in the nooks and crannies of breathtaking Castelli Romani. We sampled the treats of this region exactly as the locals do— with cappuccino in hand overlooking amazing volcanic vistas while savoring its signature culinary delights. The quintessential—and quite unforgettable—highlight of our trip to Rome!

Nature and super charming town 20 min from Rome

What a wonderful surprise, who could
Imagine that just 20 min. from the center of Rome you could discover such charming little town like Frascati, amazing typical food and wine and 2 beautiful lakes. Pierpaolo the tour guide is super knowledgeable and super fun and will make you discover so many places, restaurants and typical things. If you are in Rome and want to escape the city this is a must do, but also if you are in Rome I suggest to stay one extra day to discover the Castelli Romani with Pierpaolo!!!

Relaxing Day Trip

Our day trip to Castelli Romani was very well organized. We visited many different lovely small towns. The views were very beautiful, the wine delicious and the food excellent. Pier was a really good guide, a real local. He spoke about local life and circumstances as well as more general topics. We are especially grateful for the tips he gave us to spend time later.

I would recommend this tour to others as well, and the next time I come to Rome, I will definitely go back to Castelli Romani.

Exceeded expectations!

Amazing tour! It was by far one of the best AirBnB experiences I’ve had on my entire trip. Pier is an amazing host - very engaging, knowledgeable, and fun! He showed me around the most beautiful places of Castelli Romani, shared their history and interesting facts, and introduced me to some of the local traditions and delicacies. Frascati was a breath of fresh air and a feast for the eyes after hot and busy Rome. I liked it so much that I will definitely be back to continue exploring the region. Definitely a highlight of my stay in Italy!

If you're tired of spending all day with other American tourists -- DO THIS. I've done every day trip from Rome: Positano, Capri, Tuscany, Naples. On these trips I spent all day on a bus with other Americans, and visiting touristy shops (more Americans). This is a 100% local experience. It's a day in 3 villages with the charming Pier. The most memorable day in Italy.

Our Best Tour On This Rome Trip

Pier creates a really good excursion away from the frenetic pace of Rome. We enjoyed all of the villages, especially Nemi and Frescati. The stops for snacks and pictures were great, but the best feature was such a personable and entertaining tour guide. Ask for Pier!

Amazing, Mouth-watering and Authentic Experience

On our final day we have decided to take the Castelli tour with Pier. I feel so privileged to have seen the country side with a local guide far from the madding tourist crowd in Rome. Especially the Fraschetta experience with Pier has been the highlight of my entire trip in Italy. It is definitely not just a dinner but a whole new level of mouthwatering experience that will be remembered forever. You meet Pier and after the first few minutes you feel like as if you've known each other for years; he is very friendly and attentive. The owner of the place is also the producer of the wine, so you get a chance to chat over a glass of wine and delicious simple food with them whilst the locals sing traditional Roman songs; I should admit that I felt exactly as if I was in an Italian neo-realistic movie scene. If you love wine, food and people go for it; I guarantee you, this tour will be the best thing you have done when in Rome.
