    What to Expect
Take a deep dive into the history of mining in Canada with this admission and guided tour at the Britannia Mine Museum. Learn about the history of this fascinating industry through a series of interactive exhibits and through your knowledgeable tour guides.

Start your Britannia Mine Museum visit any time during its opening hours from 9am to 5pm daily. This National Historic Site and Canadian Signature Experience offers an award-winning museum on the location of what was once one of the largest copper mines in the British Empire.

Take your time to immerse yourself in the museum’s collection of displays, hands-on exhibits, and films, learning about the rich history of this unique industry. Then climb aboard the museum’s on-site mine train, which will take you on a trip inside one of the former mining tunnels. Along the way, your guide will share stories about the mine’s colorful past.

Continue inside the sprawling mill building to see BOOM! and learn about the inner-workings of one of the last-remaining gravity-fed mills in North America. Finish your tour with a chance to pan for gold at the museum’s gold-panning station, taking home any of your lucky finds.

It was not our first visit, we’ve been here 4-5 times over the last few years, but everyone was impressed with the recent changes. You can see and hear the mill in full action. Unbelievable. Fantastic experience. The museum offers a 20 minute movie about...More

A fabulous museum with attentive staff- the museum is well set up, tour is informative and well run. The interactive presentation video shows are very impressive and we could not fault the museum in any way. Job well done!

Tour was instructive and entertaining. This is a great example of turning an environmental disaster into a tourist attraction. Amazing to think so much of this history happened while we were comfortably and unaware enjoying Vancouver city life so close by.
