I booked the Northern Lights tour with Alta Adventures hoping for a magical New Year's Eve experience, but it turned out to be a huge disappointment. The entire evening felt unorganized and rushed. Despite being advertised as a 4-hour tour, the "guide" dropped us off at the hotel lobby before midnight, cutting the experience short. To make matters worse, heavy cloud cover meant we didn’t even get a glimpse of the Northern Lights. While I understand the weather is unpredictable, there was no backup plan or effort to make the evening special. Everyone on the tour seemed just as disappointed. What made the experience even worse was the complete lack of information. The guide didn’t tell us anything about the Northern Lights or about Alta itself. In other reviews, he mentions that it depends on the interest of the group, but that’s complete nonsense. In the bus, you could barely communicate with the front, so it was impossible to get any details unless you were sitting near the front. A more professional company— which this is not—would have ensured that everyone received the necessary information without having to ask for it. After dropping us off at the hotel lobby, the guide told us to go outside and see the fireworks. It felt incredibly disrespectful. For next time, I will book activities with a more established company to ensure a better-organized and more professional experience. This was, by far, the worst tour experience and guide I’ve ever had. A complete waste of money. I can’t recommend this tour to anyone, especially for such an important occasion like New Year's Eve.

My family went on a Northern Lights tour with Alta Adventures in mid-December--a truly wonderful experience! From the start, the team was extremely responsive and accommodating when our group reached out for an amended tour. The warmth and enthusiasm of our guide Steven Toogood also cannot be overstated! Steven made our tour a memorable and enjoyable adventure with facts about the aurora, stories from the surrounding areas, hot drinks, and plenty of opportunities for photos. His dedication to finding the lights and making our chase special was so appreciated. A huge thank you to Steven and the team!

We found this trip outstanding, our guide Steven Toogood making it a highlight of our holiday. Quality warm clothing and boots were included in the price and at a temperature of -21 very welcome and necessary. Steven was very knowledgeable about the area, friendly and attentive, making sure we each felt involved and guided/helped us throughout to get the best photos. We went to 4 areas of outstanding beauty in our hunt for the lights and even though a full moon hindered what would of otherwise been a perfect night sky; we achieved some gorgeous photos and had a really “bucket list” evening.

Our guides were absolutely amazing! They were so passionate about the Northern Lights and helping us find them. They took us to a lake and the views were just out of this world. My coworkers and friends were so jealous of the pictures we had taken! Most of all our guides were friendly people to begin with, so even if we didn't see the lights, the nightly adventure would have still be splendid. Highly recommend!

It was a wonderful trip! Stig took us far into the fjord and we saw so many orcas and humpback whales. He waited patiently for us to take countless pictures and enjoy the beautiful views. Tasty hot chocolate and pastry was the cherry on top. We still cannot believe how beautiful this was - thank you Stig and Alta Adventures!

Amazing King Crab Safari in Alta The King Crab Safari in Alta was an unforgettable experience! Our guide was excellent—knowledgeable and engaging. We loved the fresh and delicious crab soup, which was the highlight of the tour. The scenic walk through Arctic landscapes and the bonus whale-watching made it even more special. A perfect blend of adventure, nature, and amazing food. Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful experience with Stig and his team in the Norwegian Fjords. He knew the best place to bring us and we saw whales and even caught a glimpse of an orca. I would hugely recommend Alta Adventures. Thank you Stig 🐳

Diamela, Stig and their team could not have done anymore to make our trip memorable. We travelled with Dia and her love and passion for Norway and the Northern Lights was truly special. We saw so many Auroras and they knew just where to find them. They kept us warm, yummy hot chocolate and the pastries were to die for, and a special pat with their husky. A truly special excursion.

Amazing northern lights hunting with Dia. Pick up from the hotel and others straight to the office and set off after the briefing. Dia is friendly and taking good care of us. We went to 4 spots and lucky enough to see her appeared at the first spot.

The owners were so accommodating and knowledgeable. They provided boots and outer wear so we weren’t cold. We learned a lot about the area and their lives. Unfortunately we didn’t see any northern lights because of the clouds and snow but we drove to many different areas to look. I’d highly recommend the tour.

A complete and so informative night excursion Northern Lights. Stig is from Alta and knows a lot about his area as well as everything you need to know about the Aurora Boreal and where to find it. A perfect night.

Sig is a delightful Alta local, and leads a wonderful personal experience in Alta. We took the 6 hour snowmobile trip and had an amazing time experiencing the beautiful countryside. We travelled 60 kms, with a stop for coffee and waffles at the half way point. The gear he provided is top notch and we were comfortable and warm despite the snow and wind. Highly recommended.

The tour was very well organised with experienced local people. we were taken to the best places to see the lights and we experienced an excellent showing.

This tour was fantastic and the lights even came out to play Diamela and Stig were really friendly and helpful. We loved the fact that this tour was small and in a mini bus which made it more personal . We visited 3 locations during the 4 hours we were out and Diamela and Stig knew exactly where to go to get the best view. The hot chocolate and danish pastries were much appreciated Would thoroughly recommend booking this tour

My friend and I recently did this tour with Diamela and Stig. I wasn't sure that we'd need to get away from the city lights to see the Northern Lights, but I have to say, it was well worth the drive out of town. We went to three different spots and I got my best photos of Lady Aurora on this tour. Stig is a talented driver on icy roads and Diamela is a fabulous host fitting people expertly with gear. She introduced us to her "retired" husky Loki as we warmed up around the campfire with late night snacks. they followed up with photos the next day! It was great! We took the snowmobile tour with them the next morning and had even more fun! I thoroughly recommend any tour that Alta Adventure offers!
