About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Carmen O0 contributionsAmazing views from the top of Dalsnibba Mountain. This excursion was absolutely wonderful. Our guide Sandra did a great job. She was very friendly and kind. Alexandro was a very skilled driver. There was never a time that I felt uncomfortable or afraid of the sharp turns and narrow road we drove on to get to the top of the mountain. The views from the top were absolutely breathtaking. I would highly recommend this excursion company to everyone.Written September 29, 2024
- Trip8194050 contributionsJulia, you’re a star!I generally do not write reviews but, our guide Julia was an amazing amazing person, who might I mention loved the weather (mentioned multiple times due to the view of the far away Alpes) as much as I did on that particular day. Apart from this, it was pretty much everything that we expected from the description. Highly recommend if you have a limited time frame on port! 🙂Written September 16, 2024
- 01060 contributions$89 booked direct with the company. Same tour through ship’s shore excursions $195After disembarking in the beautiful small town of Eidfjord, our bus followed the Eio river to the “Hardangervidda Nature Centre” to learn about Norwegian nature, the climate and environment. The highlight was a panoramic movie that took us on a visual journey along the fjord, mountains and waterfalls. We continued towards the Måbødal valley, surrounded by spectacular mountains driving through tunnels and over authentic stone bridges arriving at Hardangervidda, Europe’s biggest mountain plateau. We then continued to the Vøringsfossen waterfall. The waterfall has a free fall of 145 meters and a total height of 182 meters making it one of the highest waterfalls in Europe.Written September 12, 2024

- 708yolandal0 contributionsWorthwhile even when it rainsVery nice excursion from Eidfjord via interesting museum to the waterfalls. Fortunately we did have some views although it was rainy weather. Even then it was beautiful. Good guide and driver. Only thing we can think of is maybe some more time at the waterfall as there are many paths to take. Thanks!Written August 25, 2024
- Venture466817962410 contributionsA great tour company and a great Norway experience!Norway Excursions was recommended to me by another cruiser on the Ultimate World Cruise and I was able to book several small group tours with them in multiple port stops in Norway. The guides and drivers were fantastic and very knowledgeable. The pace of the tours was very good - we had enough time to get all the photos we wanted and were able to visit a wide variety of places on each of the tours. I would definitely book with them again if we return to Norway in the future.Written August 24, 2024
- I7646BJlauries0 contributionsShore Excursion from Olden to Geiranger FjordTruly gorgeous scenery, comfortable bus for traveling, plus an enthusiastic and informative guide, Julia. We also had one of the best tour lunches we have ever had at Hotel Union, absolutely delicious. A well organized and well executed shore excursion. Highly recommend.Written August 24, 2024
- SproutTrout0 contributionsFollow the scenic road to Troll's LadderThis was our second day with our excellent guide, Denise, with Norway Excursions. We saw spectacular scenery. The highlight of the drive was going to be Trollstigen (Troll's Ladder), but the road was closed because of landslides. We did get a good view at the top of the mountain from a viewing platform of the switchbacks. Cross your fingers that it will be back open when you visit so you can experience all those switchbacks. In Stordal, we peeked in the window of the Rose Church. The interior was decorated in 1799 by travelling craftsmen. You can purchase a ticket at the nearby house, or explore the graveyard for free. Next to it was an old long house from the 1800s. The length, low ceilings, and small windows were all designed to maximize heat retention in the winter. Just down the road was our lunch spot serving some traditional Norwegian food. It was a beautiful and relaxing day.Written August 24, 2024
- SproutTrout0 contributionsOlden, Gateway to Extreme BeautyOlden Private the Majestic Geirangerfjord Experience - Norway is such a beautiful country. We saw a lot of it from tours out of the ports of Olden and Alesund. We were guided by the best guide we have had on the entire trip, a young woman named Denise. From Olden, we went to Lake Oppstryn, viewed the waterfall Øvstefossen; and took photos from Mount Dalsnibba's Skywalk, Flydalsjuvet, and Eagle Road. We saw beautiful scenery along Gamle Strynefjellsvegen (County Road 258), a 27-kilometre (17 mi) long road that runs through the Videdalen valley linking the Nordfjord region and Eastern Norway. It is designated a National Tourist Route. We encountered a lot of switchbacks as we drove higher in the mountains. Our guide told us the hairpin curves have names. For example Ørnesvingin means "The eagle swing" and Årsethaugsvingen means"Years pile swing." We also had a tasty lunch at the classy Hotel Union in Geiranger.Written August 24, 2024
- davidalejandrop9210 contributionsGood tour, a bit rushedThe tour was good, comfortable coach and very good and nice guide (Sylvia). My one complaint is that the time at Mount Dalsnibba was super short, by the time we used the toilet and cafeteria we had to leave! More time should be made for the stop.Written August 23, 2024
- 465gertjanr0 contributionsGreat experience, worthwhile to do.It was an amazing walk, and well worth it; the climb was on parts difficult, but definitely worthwhile. (One of us has 2 artificial knees, and trained a good bit on a treadmill before the trip. We think this did help. But if a hand was needed, there was always someone with a helping hand.)Written August 23, 2024
- ChiliQueen610 contributionsWONDERFUL TOUR WITH SAM!We went on the Ultimate Sightseeing Tour. It was very easy to find our tour guide at the port and the bus was right there too. We had Sam as our tour guide for the day. It was a wonderful tour and Sam was great! I highly recommend this tour, guide and company! We ended up seeing and doing a lot in the half-day tour.Written August 22, 2024

We take this tour through Princess excursion, the scenery of the ride to there is ok. However there will be nicer one in other Norway fjord ports. The hike to the Galcier lake to see a tiny clacier is not worth the effort. I do not recomend this tour , you can find much better one in other Norway ports. ei, Tromso.

It seems that you may have been a passenger of a Princess Cruises excursion and NOT Norway Excursions. Sorry to hear that you did not enjoy the hike to the glacier and the beautiful scenery in this part of Norway. We kindly ask that you consider removing this review and posting it under the appropriate tour operator or the glacier itself. Safe travels home!

The guide Daria had on a yellow jacket and was easy to spot at the cruise pier. She spoke decent English, checked us off her list and we had to stand around for about 15 mins waiting for the bus. Upon our arrival at the park (which had no entrance fee), she said we’d be returning from our drop-off point at a specific time (1pm); however, she then pretty much disappeared (we lost 15 mins waiting & looking around for her) and so the 4 of us made our own way up to the glacier and back down.
At 1pm (the prearranged return time), we had to once again stand around for 20 mins in the parking lot waiting for the bus.
Given there was no guiding, I’d recommend finding your own way to the park for less cost. The tour wasn’t terrible but disappointed in the lack of value.

We booked this tour as we were a little late booking shore excursions from our Royal Caribbean cruise and we couldn't have been happier with our choice.
To start with the Briksdal Glacier hike, it was a little steep in parts but I think anyone who doesn't have mobility issues should be able to accomplish it easily, stopping frequently for pictures on the way up took about an hour and the hike down took probably 30-45 minutes. The views were beautiful and we had unusually good weather. Our tour guide was even taking pictures. At the base of the hike is a cafe, cafeteria, and gift shop with restrooms.
As for this specific tour, we got a roughly 30 minute bus ride from from the port to the Briksdal Glacier and the guide provided interesting information on the way there and back. The bus driver was incredible navigating the narrow roads. We stopped briefly on the way back for photos by the glacier-fed lake.
I would absolutely recommend this tour for anyone able to make the hike.

Very nice trip! The guide is a very nice person. We have around 130min come and back to the Briksdal, for me the time is enough. It is worth to mention that there is a very smart and large Lake on the way from Olden to Briksdal, the kind guide give us 10min take photo for the Lake. I am really appreciate it.

Excellent tour. Went while on a Norway cruise with RC. Our tour guide, Denise, was fantastic. She provided lots of interesting tidbits of info about Olden and Norway in general without talking too much, which some guides tend to do. She also provided us plenty of time to explore on our own and gave us clear instructions on when we should be heading back. The hike itself was gorgeous, as was the drive to and from the national park. Hike was challenging but very doable (even for kids/older folks) and lake and glacier at the end was definitely worth it. One of the most beautiful areas I have ever been to. Overall had a great time and would do again, especially if Denise were leading it. 5 stars!

Wet, misty + cold on the day we did Briksdal, but loved it! Was on P&O Iona cruise and they cancelled Pulpit Tock/Stavanger due to poor weather, so this was our first (and best excursion) after 60+ hrs on board. Booked through Olden Travel on line before sailing and saved £‘s. Easy to do, discount for second trip (Loen?) and great service. Olden rep on dock outside ship, coach trip scenic, walk to glacier relatively easy (depends on fitness, etc) A couple of steep(ish) bits by waterfall but there is the option for the buggies? The waterfall is . . . a bit obvious this, wet! And by that I mean, the spray when you try and get pic from the bridge. I stupidly tried to get even close up a banking but that wasn’t a good idea. Drenched. The lake + glacier are stunning. Probably not supposed to do it, but as we had a padlock engraved ready for Pulpit Rock (seen fence near top with locks on it from YouTube), we left one on fence. We weren’t the only one btw. My message on back of “She just fell over the edge . . Honest” made better sense for Pulpit. Car/Coach park has cafe/sovereign shop and toilets. A tip? We brought a couple of Tupperware boxes (again more for cancelled hike) to fill up from ship during brekkie (croissants, muffins, etc) and a flask for coffee. The cafe naturally was busy so we sat outside on the sheltered tables and had a picnic! Definitely recommend trip.

Beautiful excursion, very well organised, the guide illustrated and explained to us in an impeccable and exhaustive manner not only the information regarding the Briskdal glacier, the beautiful basin that we skirted during the journey, Lake Oldevatnet but also information on life in Norway, really interesting . The timing of the excursion was perfect even for me as I'm not much of an athlete, but it allowed me to see wonderful views, impressive waterfalls and the tongue of the glacier in its splendor. The organization was perfect, we got on the bus right next to the ship and were brought back well in advance and with the same comfort.

Our family had a wonderful tour with Bas to the Briksdal Glacier. He was a very informative and friendly guide. Since we lucked out and had spectacular weather, we were able to make several stops along the way to just stare in awe at the beautiful scenery. Bas answered all of our questions and explained how he was able to get a job in Norway. He also explained how the grass roofs, (which most of us had never seen before) actually worked. I really enjoyed this tour with our guide Bas, because I love learning about people's daily lives in countries so different than my own country. Thanks Bas for a great excursion!

Is this suitable for a 7 month old baby do you think? Could you use a stroller on the hike, or would you struggle in parts? I've seen troll cars but not sure how safe they would be for a little'un? And finally, do you need to bring a car seat for the coach there and back? Many thanks for any insights you can give us! :-)
