About
Sea kayaking in Ireland is an activity on the up and offers the opportunity to get close to nature and to travel to places inaccessible by any other form of transport. We run four different routes on the Giants Causeway coast for different abilities and to accommodate the weather and sea forecast. The route that passes the Causeway itself is an exciting paddle that requires competent kayaking skills. We use many other routes suiting beginner to intermediate kayaking skills such as via Dunluce Castle and the magical cliffs at Whiterocks and from Ballintoy to Carrick-a-rede Rope Bridge. Giant’s Causeway coastline is undoubtedly one of the most popular tourism locations in Ireland, so it can get busy on the walking traditional route. Spending a half a day exploring the area surrounding the Causeway is a fulfilling and fascinating experience. Sea caves, smugglers coves and geology abounds in the short stretch of coastline to either side of the Causeway itself.

We went on the causeway kayak tour with Darren from Far & Wild recently. Fantastic experience from start to finish. Darren is a great guide, professional, knowledgable and patient. The tour was fun and we had fabulous views of the coast, and some up close encounters with the marine life. Can’t recommend highly enough, give it a go!

Marvellous four hour trip with Darren along the Causeway coast. Seals, dolphins and peace and quiet. Darren was excellent and didn’t mind that we had to be reminded which way to put on a wetsuit! I would recommend to anyone and would love to do this again.

I think you got the lucky day Fiona, I haven't managed to spy the dolphins up there myself yet, so well done. Thanks for the great review!

I booked the Far and Wild Causeway Coast Sea Kayaking for my girlfriend's birthday and I couldn't have imagined the day working out any better - all thanks to our trusty guide Lawrence who knew every rock, cove and cave along the way. Looking back, we were probably able to relax and have so much fun because we felt safe and in good hands. A very experienced, knowledgeable guide and good company.

We met in the morning at Ballintoy Harbor to catch the benefit of the turning tide and paddled along the coast towards Carrick-a-rede rope bridge. Lawrence highlighted various geological features and identified some wildlife along the way. As if by magic we had a fly by from a puffin! Just Brilliant!

We circled the rock at Carrick-a-rede and passed under the bridge for our return. I believe pushing through the gap under the bridge was a lucky and rare opportunity which largely depends on weather conditions, swells and tides etc. All of which Lawrence had down to a tee.

We set off back to Balintoy to discover the labyrinth of rocks just off the harbor - there's a lot more to it than you'd think including a hidden plinth surrounded by rocks and open views of the Irish Sea... it's just one of the secret spots Lawrence knows about.

After 3 hours we headed back to the harbor and took off or wet suits. We said our thanks to Lawrence and headed straight to the harbor cafe for two double scoop ice creams with all the toppings followed by a sleep on the beach just round the corner.

Best. Day. Ever.
