Amazing river Rafting
We had the most amazing time rafting the Pacuare River, with our guides Juan Carlos and Eduardo. We spent two days on the river which is so beautiful! The accommodations and food were great and our guides did an amazing job guiding us through the rapids. Juan Carlos shared his love of the plant and animal life with us which was so informative. We highly recommend this adventure. Thanks guys!

Best part of our CR excursion
Can't say enough about what a great time we had. Sante (? spelling) and Roy were our guides for this trip. They took us and another couple out for our adventure and took such good care of us. These two guys worked their butts off. We spent maybe two hours total on the river the first day and stopped at the Pacuare River Lodge for the evening. My husband and I are 53 and 62 and in relatively decent shape. The hike from the river to the lodge was a challenge. Very steep!

The lodge has electricity and running water, but everything (food, linenes, garbage) has to be packed in and packed out. I can't imagine hauling all that stuff up that hill everytime. We offered to help, but other than helping carry bags of ice or food, these two guys did it all. They made sure we were fed well and had drinks. They even made the beds!

The lodge is situated high over the river and the view is spectacular. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided. Second day of rafting was anywhere from 3 - 4 hours with lunch break. Along the river there are waterfalls and rivers, some of which we stopped to get out and explore and swim.

Scenery cannot be described. I have been on other rafting trips in West Virginia and this was so much more fun. The guides were friendly and knowledgeable. If you have time and resources - take this trip. You won't be sorry!

Highlight of my trip! Absolutely worth it!
Nov 2019
My boyfriend and I decided to take a 2-day trip with Exploradores which was highly recommended to me by a friend. I am glad that we decided to do this! The entire process was seamless. They will provide transportation but we drove to their exploration center where breakfast was provided. Usually there are groups of people but on our 2-day trip it ended up just being my boyfriend and I on the raft along with Santi and Eduardo who were THE BEST guides to be with. Their knowledge and service was absolutely out of this world. They made sure we were comfortable at all times. Santi was a great guide and made the entire process fun. We stayed a the Pacuares Lodge overnight on the river and that was unique and a once in a life time experience. The kitchen was outdoors and they cooked us lunch and dinner and breakfast again in the morning. Eduardo took us on a small hike to the waterfall the first afternoon we were at the lodge. The lodge had a beautiful view of the cliffside and the entire lodge resort. I would recommend this trip to anyone wanting a unique experience!

Absolutely amazing rafting trip, excellent guides
Oct 2019
Our overnight rafting trip was nothing short of amazing. We chose the overnight option because we wanted the rafting experience as well as the jungle experience and that's exactly what we got.
The rafting was more relaxed on the first day, which gave us an opportunity to really soak in the beauty of the jungle and to learn about its wildlife as well as the Cabécares, an indigenous group that lives in the area. Our guides Sasi and Miso were incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about Pacuare and made our trip fun, informative and safe. On top of that, they prepared delicious fresh meals for us.
The night at Pacuare River Lodge was really special. The lodge is a beautiful and peaceful place in the middle of the jungle and we were lucky to be the only guests there that night.
On the second day, we had a lot of class III and IV rapids waiting for us, which made for a fun and exciting end to the trip.
A truly special experience that I wholeheartedly recommend!

Absolutely great trip, stunning landscape
May 2019 • Couples
Tis review mainly related to the company that takes over from Exploradores, they are husband & wife owners of the lodges and I suppose they have a deal with Exploradores overall.
Pickup at our hotel at first was a bit glitchy, because there was a different company taking people in a similar trip that picked up at the same time and a sleepy lady and her mum had confirmed they were indeed me and went with our guys. So our van was gone and the other one was waiting for the already departed ms. sleepy. Anyway, the mistake was cleared up and we did a swap down the road.
We then went on a ca. 2 hour transfer to the Exploradores HQ with their guide, Roberto. I read some negative reviews about him, but actually I thought he was just very funny and upbeat.
We got some breakfast when we got to the place and then people transferred onto the correct vehicles, depending on which tour they'd booked. We went with Roberto and the 1 Day trip people again and received our safety briefing from him (again, very entertaining). Then myself, my husband and one other lady were dropped off with the people who actually run the 2-day trip, which as far as I am aware is a different company altogether and I suppose they just have a deal regarding the transfer there. It is a husband (i totally forgot the name) and his wife Joanna who own the lodges.
We were introduced to our guide, Mao, and the 4 of us set off. He was absolutely great and such a nice guy. We spent about 1 hour on the river the first day and then stopped at the Pacuare River Lodge. Very lovely spot, nice little cabins and looked after by working volunteers from all over the world.
Mao made some nice snacks and then took us on a hike to a waterfall. He also showed us around all the different edible plants growing there by the lodge.
Later on he made a very tasty dinner for all and we had a bit of a happy hour with some drinks. Was a very nice and relaxed afternoon and evening there.
The next day, after an equally lovely breakfast, we want back on the river for approx 4 hours, with one lunch stop. This time we had a safety kayaker with us, think his name was Manfred. He also took lots of pictures, which Joanna later emailed to us free of charge (unlike at the 1-day trip, where you have to pay as far as I've heard). Mao took us under waterfalls and pointed out notable points along the river on the way. My husband and me had such a brilliant time and I was sad when it was over!
Would absolutely recommend the 2-day trip, I'd say you just get way more out of it and the night by the river is so worth it.
