Highlight of my trip
Oct 2019
The one day trip with Olivier was my highlight of a family holiday to Europe. Olivier is very knowledgeable about the battles and places that the Anzacs fought in in WW1. Wish I could have stayed longer.

Incredible wealth of information
Sep 2019
Our family (with three kids 11, 9 and 7) were hosted for a day by Olivier as we toured the Western Front in his van. It was a full day seeing and learning about the history of wartime and seeing significant locations. Olivier had researched our relatives prior to the day and was able to show us family graves and even the paddock where our Great Grandfather was injured. His understanding and knowledge of this period of history is remarkable yet has well informed understanding of architecture and art as well. He was inexhaustible! A tour with full value. Thanks Olivier.

Brilliant
Husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Olivier. He was very knowledgeable and extremely passionate about the area and war history.

He certainly put things into perspective in regards to the chronological history of events as they had occurred during The Great War.

We really enjoyed ourselves and highly recommend Olivier tour.

Exceptional Tour Guide
Oct 2019 • Family
Finding the right tour and tour guide can sometimes be difficult. But with this choice you can relax, you are in very capable professional hands. Olivier is exceptional, his knowledge of the battles on the Somme is thorough, especially when he combines his knowledge of the Picardie villages, army placements, trench locations and geographical landmarks to take you back in time to the Great War.

I say Olivier is exceptional, this is because I booked with a couple of days to spare, and asked could we add an additional stop to the itinerary, which he did at the small but very poignant Franco Australian Muséum at the school in Villers Bretonneux. He also patiently waited while we took photos and chose books and collectables.

The tour itself was relaxing with regular stops to get out and explain the battlefields. Furthermore, we stopped for lunch at the Le Tommy café du souvenirs in Pozieres which has very good pub food, complete with First World War relics and imagery from the surrounding fields.

I would highly recommend any tour by Olivier, as the next time we are in France we will book another tour for certain.

Extremely informative tour
Oct 2019
The Australian battlefield tour was excellent, and Olivier was a fantastic, informative and engaging guide. Starting at the cemetery at Villers-Brettoneux and the Sir John Monash Centre, the tour winds through the Somme Valley visiting many of the historic sites where Australians served, including Hamel and Pozieres. Olivier is very knowledgeable and explained in detail the movement of the front line between mid 1916 to 1918.

He out-did himself by locating the grave of a relative of someone in our tour group, in a South African war cemetery at Delville Wood. This is a bit “off the beaten track” (in terms of Australian involvement in the war) and wouldn’t normally be on the tour list, but Olivier was very obliging, and treated this moment with dignity and respect.

A fantastic end to the tour, visiting original trenches at Newfoundland (Canadian site), which was very interesting.

I have no hesitation in recommending this tour (with teenagers) and would gladly do it again. Unreservedly 5 stars. Well done, Olivier.

Thorough Battlefield Tour of the Somme
Sep 2019
We did a one day tour of the major sites during the Battle of the Somme. The tour group was small (six in total) with two Americans (us) and four Australians. The tour included the Sir John Monash Centre (itself an amazing, interactive museum) located behind the Villers–Bretonneux Australian National Memorial, the Lochnagar Crater and the Newfoundland Park of Beaumont-Hamel. There were other stops as well to see additional monuments and important sites. A huge shout out to our excellent tour guide, Olivier, who was so incredibly knowledgeable which made the tour substantial and really detailed.
Transportation was comfortable and we never felt rushed at any of the sites. Olivier was able to adjust as we went, should the group want to stay longer at one place vs. hustling us from place to place. He also knew the secret of when to stop and talk vs. walk and talk, a rare skill when conveying as much information as he did.
It was a great day spent walking through the countryside of Northern France, that even those in our group that weren't big history people, still really enjoyed learning and visiting these crucial sites of WW1.
I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone with even a passing interest in WWI. So, so worth it.

Excellent day out.
Aug 2019
This was such an experience for my husband and I. Olivier’s knowledge and research of the area is just outstanding. He explained each army’s movements and objectives, warfare strategies and the effect on each army, the environment and local inhabitants which must have suffered terribly. Olivier has the ability to bring the battle to life through his excellent commentary. He also located the grave of a long lost great uncle, making our day even more special and the long trip from Australia worthwhile. We cannot thank him enough for all he did for us.

Chemins D'Histoire battlefields tour
May 2019 • Couples
We had a wonderful day tour with Olivier from Amiens on May 25th. Ours was an Australian tour with 2 other Aussie couples. Olivier had researched our relatives extensively & took us to locations where they fought & sadly were injured or went missing from. His knowledge is extensive & he really brought the Somme Valley battles to life. Villiers-Brettoneux & the new Sir John Monash Centre were highlights. Would highly recommend Olivier's battlefield tours.
