Not only was Claude’s knowledge the World War 1 aspects of the Somme exceptional, but he was also able to talk about the Second World War in the area, and indeed the border military situation for the whole area. As well as having a keen interest in this, he also bought a personality and breadth of conversation that made the day; solemn, informative, interesting and yet still light hearted enough to make the day totally enjoyable. He was incredibly professional and understanding. We were bald we chose him.

Northern France was a good holiday plenty of war sights to see and nice places to go and visit.Stayed in a nice place overlooking the sea food was good and Euros was helpful.recommend a to take your car.

This tour was nothing short of excellent! Claude was an outstanding guide, very professional and highly organised, but also personable and approachable. The 2-day tour had the perfect blend of travelling in the comfort of a spacious van, wandering through cemeteries and memorials, and visiting relevant, interesting and interactive museums. All of these activities were supported by Claude’s commentary about what was happening at that time and in that place. His knowledge of WW1 is incredible, and he is patient and generous when answering any additional questions we had. But perhaps what we appreciated the most was that we never felt rushed; once he had finished his explanation at each site, Claude gave us as much time as we wanted to read another plaque or headstone, or to take a few more pictures, or to simply take a moment to think of the fallen - and for that we were most grateful. We cannot thank Claude enough for the wonderful experience we had touring the Australian World War I Battlefields. His knowledge is endless, and it is very obvious that he is passionate about the subject matter. The morning began in the pouring rain, with bright sunshine in the afternoon, and finished with the last post at the Menin Gate at 8 o’clock, which was a very moving end to an incredible day. We highly recommend this tour.

Claude was prompt in picking us up from our hotel in Lille and then took us to see the final resting places of two of our family members, who were both killed in 1918. He was very flexible and worked in with our plans to visit these two graves at two different war cemeteries. He then took us around numerous battlefield sites and war cemeteries, involving New Zealanders, and his knowledge was first class. For that special day in connecting with those special soldiers, contact Claude and he will make it happen.

Claude met us at our hotel on time and took us to the Monash Memorial We proceeded to see various War cemeteries around the Somme valley. The tour was first rate and Claude's knowledge was impressive. Week worth the cost.

Where do I start?! As my husband and I were starting to plan our vacation to Europe one of my must do's was to go and see the Canadian monument, Vimy Ridge. Although I have no present knowledge of relatives who were a part of WW1, as a Canadian, as a child of a serviceman from WW2, a brother, a nephew and my husband have or still do serve, my interest in of taking up the torch to remember and honour those who gave so much. I searched online for tours, months before we left Canada, and came across this tour company "Battlefield Tours". I am unable to say enough wonderful things about this tour company, Claude and his knowledge, kindness, and patience with me as I was becoming more and more interested with each gravesite and monument. I started to look for my family name on graves and found many. Claude obviously had a schedule and I am sure I tested his time but he understood how this was becoming more and more important than even I had imagined. We opted for the private tour and found that it was worth every nickel. Claude has amazing knowledge, passion and obvious great interest in these sites and the history of the European "War To End All Wars". You will NOT be disappointed in this tour company, Battlefield Tours, and I HIGHLY recommend it!

My husband and I had two big days with Claude and what an experience which was nothing short of amazing. We are so glad to have chosen this experience and are so lucky to have had Claude as our host. Claude's knowledge is incredible. With both our grandfathers part of this war we were thrilled to see the places and experience the stories. Thank you so much.

We had a wonderful day with Claude in July 2018. Started with easy communication with Claude during the booking process, and while I had mentioned I would have my daughters with me I had not specifically requested any carseats, and yet he very thoughtfully brought a perfect carseat for my youngest. We received a lot of great information during our day, he kept all of us very interested including even my kids. The visit to the Vimy tunnels was especially great for the kids, as well as the great walk around Beaumont-Hamel. The lunch was yummy and kid-friendly. My husband and I learned a lot and got exactly what we had wanted from our day, which was to learn much more about the WWI experience of Canadians.

Claude is a fantastic host and guide. Amiable, knowledgeable and professional, he judged the pace of the tour and our interest in certain subjects to keep it from being boring. He explained the horrors of the War while being impartial. A great tour and a must for anyone interested in the history of this horrendous and wasteful time in history

We took this tour with Claude in October 2017 , he was a terrific host and guide. Claude is very knowledgeable and the tour was well organized including lunch . We requested a tour of the Canadian sites in particular, and saw them all with some additions to round out the experience. A very informative and satisfying day. Thank you Claude !

Claude went over the top on this tour. Excellent overview of the north end of the battle lines of WWI. Had a delicious lunch and found a great restaurant in Ypres. Final post (Taps for Americans) in Ypres was moving.
